Review summary

A memorable cruise that I will never forget as long as I live. Will definitely do it again either next year or the year after. I want to have a redo with this (regarding the murder on board which made us miss Tracy Arms).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Got a balcony room and it was great. Got to see some dolphins, whales, and a sea lion while out at sea. It was beautiful going into each port of Alaska.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All you can eat buffet and at the main dining room (mine was the Da Vinci Dining room). The dining room had new food on the menu everyday (nothing was the same except for the left side of the menu, that never changes) and the service was great. They always had a hand sanitizer station posted at the entry of everywhere you ate. For the specialty restaurant, I ate at the Crown Grill and had great food there.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The activities that were on the boat were fun. I mainly went to watch movies on the deck of the boat and it was great. My brother used the gym on board and said it was great.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship's shows were very entertaining to watch. A lot of them were very interactive with the audience, which was fun. The Activities Director was awesome and fun to see.

Children's Programs

Did not have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters in the dining room were very attentive and nice. They knew me by the end of the week. The room steward that I had was very nice and made the room very nicely. Even if there was some clothes on the bed, they always folded them nicely.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's design and layout was very pretty and elegant everywhere I went. The common areas were always clean and attended to.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin itself was very comfortable to hangout, sleep, eat, and watch the view out of. I slept on the top bunk of the bed and it was very comfortable to sleep in (I have not slept that good in a while). The blinds were dark enough that the light didn't come through. The bathroom was small (especially the shower) but what can you expect. The bunks went in the ceiling when we were done sleeping. My mom kept on hitting her head on the top bunk, but that's normal for a small cabin.

Ship tip

Get a shower caddy for the shower as there is not enough room in the shower for your stuff. Also, get another caddy for the back of the bathroom door to put your toothbrush and other stuff. Other than that, just get ready to relax and have fun on Emerald Princess.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Before my family and I went to sail out of Seattle, we went up a few days early to enjoy it. We went to see the Seattle Mariners MLB team play which was fun (try the crab fries and grasshoppers that are there, they are great). We went to Pikes Market Place (very crowded and hot, but was still fun). We went to see the gum wall (beware, the ground is sticky, but it was still cool to see). We stayed at the Dollar Tree Hotel by the airport and they give you free warm cookies everyday. The weather was in the high 70's so should've brought some cooler clothes. The only regret was not going to the Space Needle, that is a must do next time.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The weather was very nice (by nice I mean in the 50's or 60's, I come from Southern California where it is in the 90's majority of the time). Went to walk around the little town with the little shops in it, which was cute. We went to the Totem Pole Museum, it was cool to see. My brother, dad, uncles, and cousins went salmon fishing and caught 29 salmon in all and shipped them back home. Saw some bald eagles sailing up to the port too. Would go to this port again.

Juneau, Alaska

Favorite weather by far at this port, a whole lot of rain. Went to this port earlier than supposed to due to the murder that happened on the boat (yes, I was on that ship). Got off later than expected too, luckily the excursion was understanding of our situation (we ended up doing ziplining in the rainforest). Ziplining was a lot of fun (my first time doing it) we ended up ziplining in the rain. Did not have the chance to explore the town.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Was small and cute. Ended up doing the gold digging, sled dog, and scenic train route excursion. Got to keep the gold I found and walked around the cute little shop for that and the sled dogs. Sled dogs were awesome, got to hear a little history and background stories on it. Best part was holding the puppies in the end. Scenic train route was very pretty to see. Crossed over to Canada a little, and it was a beautiful fight day. Did not have the chance to walk the cute little town.

Victoria, British Columbia

Very beautiful country. Walked around downtown and it was gorgeous. Cute shops around (they take American money, but give you Canadian money return cash). Canadian money is a good souvenir, if your cheap. Gorgeous landscape all around.

Disembarkation

Disembarkment was good, but it was very sad for me because I did not want to leave that wonderful ship.

A redo WITHOUT the family dispute I assume. Doubtful that experience will be replicated on your next Alaska cruise. Bizzare reason for killing someone.
