Review summary

11 days cruise that supposed to have visited 6 ports but have to skip 2 of the 3 main places of interest due to fog. As a holidays maker, we can understand that safety is paramount but skipping places of interest is unfair. You may have no alternatives at that point in time but am pretty sure there should be contingency plans on hand whenever face with such situation. An established cruise company like Princess would have better plan to make up for such a situation.

Any body out there doing the Emerald on April 12? Anybody have any excursion tips for Moorea or Bora Bora? Can you find things to do without a tour?

Safety of all passengers ALWAYS trumps personal interests.  Sorry you didn't get to see some of those places.

I was on the same cruise as yourself by the sounds of it and it was clearly stated by the captain that we missed Dunedin because the port of Otago was closed. He also was also worried if we went on to akaroa (where the fog was also forecast) we may of gotten in but wouldn't have been able to leave, therefore missing other ports. It's not always a decision by the cruise companies but by the port authorities in each city.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing lol 👍

Princess should build fog free islands near each port they plan to visit, just in case.

The itinerary is set up to 2 years ahead berths at ports have to be booked , I'm sure if another port is not to far from the ships itinerary Princess would have looked at it as has happened to us .
