What can I say, it's Disney by watsonink

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a last minute cruise my wife booked. We are extreme Disney fanatics so it was right up our alley. I can't complain about anything. The only thing we joked about was how small the ships was. We are used to Oasis class size.  We will always sail any of their ships.

WONDERful Holiday Cruise by rcng

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Mexico

While this was my second Disney cruise, it was the first for my wife and kids, along with some friends. All total, it was my family of 4, my parents, our friends' family of 4, one set of their parents and a brother for a total of 13. Kids were aged 2-5. This cruise on the Disney Wonder started in San Pedro (Los Angeles Port), had a couple days at sea, then a day in Puerto Vallarta, a day and a half in Cabo San Lucas, finishing with a day at sea before returning to Los Angeles. Overall, it was a fabulous cruise. We took up 3 outside view cabins and one inside at the front of the ship. The Good: Service and crowd control. The ship never really felt crowded. Even the really popular events weren't too crowded. Service everywhere was fantastic. I particularly liked how far they went to keep the ship clean. Our servers were adequate. No real complaints, but they didn't particularly stand out either. The assistant server did entertain the kids on occasion, but we never felt any particular special care. I'm a firm believer of set dining times because I like having the same servers. This allows them to recognize my habits. For example, I always have a Coke at my meals. On my other cruises, the servers, after a couple of days or so, figure that out and learn to just have a Coke ready for me when I arrive so I don't have to wait. That's about the minimum I expect in order to rate them outstanding. Never happened here. They were very polite and attentive, just didn't go above the bare minimum that I expect. Our room steward was fantastic though. He would give us special sheets. Some days, it would be Princess sheets for my daughter. Other days, he would use Cars sheets for my son. These special sheets were noticeably softer than the standard bedding too. I also caught him cleaning our room one day. He used a cleaning solution and was wiping down EVERY hard surface you could touch. Places I didn't expect, like the walls, sides of desks, etc. Made

This was our first Disney... by j0866

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Wonder

This was our first Disney cruise. We will never sail with anyone else again. Carnival was great, but Disney just takes it to the next level. There are many adult activities and there are kids camps to drop the rug rats off at.

An Excellent Cruise! by SuS29221289

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska

We just had a wonderful Alaska Disney Cruise. The ship stateroom was very clean. The crew members were always very friendly. The dinning experience was great, both the food and service are excellent. Kids and parents like the entertaiment and activities on boat and on shores. For kids, the Disney experience on boat was unbeatable. We will definitely go for another Disney Cruise again!

Wonder to Alaska by Telkwaites

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska

My family of three, two adults and a 7 year old girl sailed on the Disney Wonder from Vancouver to Alaska, finishing in Seattle in May of 2012. We had never been on a cruise before, and were wowed right from the start. They announce us as Princess (our daughter's name) and the _____family as we entered the Wonder's stunning atrium. There were a lot of children on this cruise, as we expected, it being Disney. We picked this cruise because of Disney's children's program. They will look after your kids from about 9am until 1am. This is the place where the toys play with the kids! Kind of hard to beat appearances from Snow White and Captain Hook. Our daughter loved the playroom and activities such as the Ratatouille Cooking School. The councilors were great and she had a "wonder"-full time. The only difficult thing was getting her to leave. Our inside stateroom was very well appointed and comfortable. (Though the crew came down twice to fix it, the heat didn't work, but I hear these temperature control knobs in cruise ship staterooms are just for looks.) The bathroom was stocked with lovely lotions and shampoos by Disney. We even had a tub. The decor was very nice too. The TV had many choices and all good. Our steward Herbert was excellent. The entertainment was first rate, we really enjoyed the music, costumes, dancers and special effects. These shows were fabulous. There were lots of movies and floor shows, cooking and drawing classes, and the biologist gave excellent presentations on whales. There was always something interesting to do. I have done a good deal of waitressing and I must say, I was very impressed with how things were done in the dining rooms. Roy was the Maitre d', Jose and Marvin, the waiters. I have never seen such a high standard of service done so efficiently, a marvel of organization. The staff made us feel truly welcome. The variety of dishes on the menu each night was astounding, and they seem to be able to cater to any food allergies or preferences. The food was always excellent in the dining rooms. We went to three different dining rooms, in rotation, our wait staff was always the same though. They waiters remember all your quirks and preferences, and do magic tricks for the kids. Disney characters roam around the ship, and my little girl got her photo taken with all the Disney Princesses. All the staff without exception were warm and friendly, they seemed to truly like their jobs. The ship was immaculately clean. The decor of the ship was so elegant, with Disney character touches. Each set of elevators and stairs had different decorative motifs and designs. (Beware of 18th century type pirates though, the ship is crawling with them. Luckily they were nice to us;) The buffet was a bit crowded at breakfast, they could of used more seating. We stopped at Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and ended in Seattle. In Skagway we went on a van tour with a very knowledgeable guide up the White Pass. The three towns, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Juneau seem to be wall to wall jewelry stores. In Juneau we visited the Mendenhall Glacier, a must see. Ketchikan had very friendly people who helped us out with tweezers and sympathy when our little girl got a sliver. We had only the one day in Seattle, so went to the marvelous Woodland Park Zoo. If you love great entertainment, first rate food and service, and especially if you have kids, (but there's lots for the adults too, fine for couples as well), do go on a Disney Cruise.

Definitely an Amazing Time! by HollyL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I had such a wonderful time with my family, and I hope that we will cruise again very soon! I have cruised on the Disney Wonder twice now, and I must say that this past trip was a lot better than the first even though the first trip to me was very great as well. Disney continues to push up and above.

Love Disney cruises. My kids... by CrisieG

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Wonder

Love Disney cruises. My kids are grown up but we still do Disney. The adult area for 18 and over is a great escape from the crowds. The entertainment is excellent Frozen was awesome. If you do the movie theater make sure you bring a blanket because it is cold in there. It is more expensive than other cruise lines but you get what you pay for.

Case-study in excellence by MikeP21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It is hard to believe that the Disney Wonder is now 11 years old - it is still like boarding a brand new ship. Everywhere you look, paint gleams and wood surfaces shine. If you have ever seriously studied the Disney mania for cleanliness and quality at any of their theme parks, then the care they take of the maintenance of standards on the Disney ships is not surprising. If I was an executive at another cruise line, then I would travel regularly and anonymously on Disney Cruise Line ships just to study what I have to do to compete with this product. While I have read that DCL is a "niche" cruise product, then all I can say is, if you are disuaded from booking a Disney cruise because you don't fit that niche, then you will be missing one of the best cruise experiences on the planet. The many little touches of "Disney pixie dust" are not always obvious, but they all contribute to a magical experience.
