The first vacation we did not want to come home from by allegood

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our family had such a wonderful time. We have a 10 year old and a 2 year old there was plenty for both to do. The staff was amazing and extreamly accommodating. Our 2 year old was generally so tired by the time we got to dinner that we ended up feeding him early and the staff made a little bed for him out of two chairs and two table clothes so that he could sleep. Very sweet! Our 10 year old enjoyed taking walks with mom and dad and playing with her little brother. My husband and I got to take one evening and enjoy dinner at Palo which was worth every penny and second. Great service!

Hold on to your credit card. Many hidden charges coming at you. by gordonanderson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

You'd think with the price paid to go on a wonderful Disney Cruise you would have some of the basics advertised included.  Then you find out they are adding gratuities after the fact for little or no service associated.  Also, have small item prices under larger items and then you get charged an excessive price that isn't advertised anywhere.  Beware.

Exceeded our expectations by ccwerling

The cruise was absolutely wonderful. Pampered beyond belief and loads of family activities that were truly enjoyable. When the kids say that they will save their own money to take another cruise next year, then it's a success!

overpriced by jmj85

Their just weren't any WOW moments on this cruise. For more then a balcony cabin on a seven day cruise, I got to enjoy A SMALL interior cabin for five days. I compare this to the two other cruises my family has been on. We crammed four family members into a cabin that should only be for two. Sleeping arrangements were ok for two adults and two children. However, getting dressed, and ready for the day seemed to be a challenge, with the available floorspace, roughly the same size as your average household bathroom. Next the limited availability of characters, even on the last night of the cruise you were standing in line for 30-45mins to get an autograph and picture with a character. So if you enjoy standing in line ALL cruise and not enjoying the rest of the ship and Sun this cruise is for you. The food was good, the shows were Disney quality, and the kids zone/lab was great the actually did some educational things. Overall this cruise was just "ok". This rating was confirmed when my 6 year old said to me on the last day of the cruise. "Really, Dad that's it. It's over. This cruise was too short, and really wasn't that much fun.". The sad thing is he didn't even know how much we paid for it. If you are are Disney people you are going too love it just because it's Disney, other then that your paying WAY too much for an average cruise.

Disney is 1st class all the way by carolynmilano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a great cruise and I would recommend it to anyone with children 16 and younger

Be sure if you want to pay cash at the end you find someone on the ship that knows.   We were told we could pay cash then went to the guest services to be told they had already closed our tab on our credit card.  We were there in plenty of time before we disembarked also. That was frustrating

The food was great and the service was top notch.  I would recommend a balcony room .

I absolutely LOVED our Disney cruise.  I travel a lot & this was probably the best vacation ever.  Disney's private island was breathtaking!  And I always enjoy the Bahamas, no matter how many times I've been there.

5 Day Disney Wonder by NorthernMom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We took our two sons 5 and 3. They had a blast. Lots to do for every age. Everyone was so so so Nice. The food was awesome. We have been on a few other cruises and this one had a few more perks. The rooms were very nice lots of extra space. The children loved the kids club and lab.

The only down fall would be the kids pool, if a child went poop it would take three hours to clean it. :( kids are suppose to be potty trained to get in that pool. They have a splash pad for the kids that are in diapers.

Very Nice Cruise by madhu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Disney Cruise is the best. Customer service is the best. My daughter (21/2 years) enjoyed meeting all the Disney characters.

One thing they can improve is the quality, taste of their dinner menu. The lunch and breakfast and really good but when it came to dinner not many options and not the best to expect from disney cruise.

It was a great time, shows were great and kids clubs were wonderful!! by KR4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

They had a show every night and a pirate party on deck one night with fireworks! It was great! The private island was relaxing just to sit on the beach and relax. They had a little dance party with characters too. The Bahamas and Key west were great! Everything was very clean, many people to help you, everyone so friendly, food was good, and the kids clubs were great!! They had science experiments, computers, a playground, little dancing parties, and the kids always wanted to go after dinner. I would love to go again.

Good cruise, great service, no Castaway Cay by Minnesotavacati

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For being one of Disney's older boats, I have no complaints about the ship, amenities or the room. The food and service were great. The weather was cool and rainy and the captain only made two attempts to dock at the private island. We were scheduled to be there from 8 AM to 5 PM. They made an attempt at 8 AM and 9 AM and then gave up and headed toward Miami. Obviously safety is key but they could have stayed around the island to see if things improved.

Disney cruise to Bahamas by meljosh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was an overall good, not great experience.  We traveled with a group of 26 people and we all agreed our favorite part was Castaway Cay. It was disappointing that the day was cut short there and we had to board so early.  The day in Key West was not enjoyable to the kids, not to any of them. We paid $72 each ticket to visit Blue Lagoon and were bothered by the fact that once there, we had to pay an additional $15 to rent vests. Our toilet overflowed three times in our room. We were given a room that slept 3 people, not 4 and we were only credited $100 for the inconvenience and a bottle of wine (which was nice but thrown out at airport). We had to travel to the opposite side of the ship where there was only one drink station on the 9th floor and that was also the only area to grab snacks. There wasn't huge snack assortment either at night. Overall good time was had by all, but many of us felt frustrated with some of these things.

Amazing experience by Pluto1981

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Best vacation we have ever taken.  The service was top notch.  The entertainment was excellent and the amount of activities to do was more than enough for both adults and kids.  The food was great and very abundant.  The characters were friendly and there were multiple times for the kids and adults to meet them and get there pictures taken or autographs.  It was a stress free environment.  We are excited about taking another cruise with Disney in the very near future.

First Disney Cruise by Butler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We enjoyed the cruise overall but was disappointed with the weather.  The visit to one of the ports had to be canceled due to the weather.  But we enjoyed seeing the Disney characters throughout the ship and the food was really good.

Great as usual! by cruisn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our second Disney Cruise and it did not disappoint. Great service and smooth sailing. Alaska was beautiful and God gave us great weather, the locals couldn't believe! This ship is smaller than the Dream, but it was very user friendly. The only drawback is the kids area is much smaller than the on the Dream, so my kiddos were a little disappointed after being spoiled on the Dream. Overall , outstanding cruise.

Fantastic service, the staff are all pleasant and efficient, seem to be committed to making sure every passenger has a good experience.  Alaska's beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife make for great shore adventures.  There are lots of activities available, great food.  Would highly recommnd.

Disney Winder to Alaska by judiemathison

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My grandchildren loved this cruise. The characters were available at various times and related well to them.  The activities on the ship were outstanding and geared to their age.  I do no feel that you need any shore excursions since they were happy to be on the ship.

I have been on 4 other cruise lines and felt that the food was not quite as good as several of the.  The rotation of dining  rooms was a plus since each dining room had its own character.

i probably will go on another Disney Cruise since the grandchildren would love to go again.

Disney is Wonder-ful on the high seas! by candicel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My college friends and I like to travel together, and this trip had us sailing the high seas to Alaska on board the Disney Wonder. It’s been about a couple of weeks since we left the ship, and frankly, we can’t wait to take another Disney cruise!

Embarkation: It was relatively organized and we got on board in less than an hour. You need to remember that Disney allows you to bring aboard 2 wine bottles or liquor in your CARRYON, but the airlines requires you to put the alcohol in your LUGGAGE. As long as you don't confuse the two, you will have a trip with no regrets (unlike me). Crying

The First Day: Our bags were delivered before we had to go to our muster station for the safety drill. We ran around the first few hours to sign up for the free prizes at the spa, free 90MB internet, etc.

Tip: Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to your phone before you arrive on the ship, and activated it when you're on the ship. Even if you put your phone on Airplane Mode, this app can be used to see all the movie times, event times, menus for every restaurant, etc for each day. Use the calendar on the top right to change days. It will even give you disembarkation information (be sure to read the info before your 2nd to last day on the ship).

Tracey Arm Day: The ship will go as close to the glacier as possible so please remember to bundle up and go early so you can grab a good spot for viewing. They serve soup in bread bowls, warm chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate and coffee up on Deck 10 so you don't have to miss a moment of the excitement of spotting wild animals and the beauty of nature. Character sightings of Minnie, Mickey, Donald and Goofy in their Alaskan outfits were available on Decks 9 and 10 as they wander through the crowd at random times in the morning. There were no character sightings scheduled on Deck 3 until all of the excitement of Tracey Arm is finished so you won't have to head back indoors unless you have to. They had random princess sightings wandering decks 3, 4, 5 in the afternoon as things were starting to wind down. The princesses that were available were: Rapunzel, Tatiana, Cinderella and Ariel. I ended up wandering around 4, 9 and 10. There's a different perspective from all of the decks. Deck 10 has the full 360 view but it's also the most packed. Deck 9 still had good views but it might be somewhat obstructed by the glass enclosures but that's what makes it slightly warmer. Deck 4 had good side views but you'll miss out the views from the forward and aft as those are usually blocked with ship machinery.

Disembarkation: We had breakfast at 8am (2nd seating) and said the final goodbyes to our servers! We waited about an hour for our character and color to be called so we could stand in a line to disembark the ship. We went thru immigration and customs pretty quickly after that. However, the lines for the cabs were pretty long since we declined to split up our group and move into the faster line for 3 or less people.

Tip: Ask Guest Services for items like free ear plugs, extension cords and ponchos (these are better quality than the dollar store variety and it comes with Mickey emblazoned on it!). Buy Disney Wonder/Alaska sailor hats, shirts, etc on the ship to be signed instead of bringing pillowcases. Noticed that sales items changed each day but the 2014 stuff was always on sale. You gotta admit that you were going to buy it anyway so you might as well get it signed by Mickey & the Gang.
