Amazing Med Cruise by RuthieCormode

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Disney cruises are just amazing. Our one last year to Norway was amazing so we booked this one straight away. The standards are amazing and it's so so enjoyable for the whole family. We are going with an alternative cruise line next year purely due to scheduling (when we want to go on holiday Disney Magic will be doing the same itinery as this year) and We are worried we will be disappointed after Disney!

Magical Trip on the Disney Magic by Olivierf143

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was our 1st Disney cruise and the staff of the Disney Magic just made it all spectacular. This itinerary is port intensive but still enjoyable. The app is very good and the only suggestion would be for it to allow you to add extra bookings. The food quality is very good and provided a lot of variety. We booked a Placeholder before we left. We will definitely return and even with the +- 2,386 guests it never felt crowded.

I was lucky enough to... by StNoel00

Ship: Disney Magic

I was lucky enough to spend three consecutive weeks on the Magic back in August of 2017. My Mom was the onboard Port lecturer! Our cabin was on deck 2, behind the “forbidden DO NOT ENTER” doors, where they put special guests. There were four women in that room and we didn’t kill each other! Disney is for kids!!!!!! Thankfully, they have a wonderful adults only section where you can get away from it all. Disney does a great job of keeping you entertained and their nightly shows were amazing!!

My first ever cruise was... by cgravely

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Magic

My first ever cruise was aboard the Disney Magic this past August, sailing out of Barcelona. The food was surprisingly good, with the breakfast buffet being the highlight. The service, with the exception of how staff handled a luggage snafu in day one, was excellent. The itinerary was a whirlwind, covering a lot of ground in just a few days. We hired private guides for tours of Florence and Rome, so no feedback on Disney excursions. The fireworks show was a nice surprise. The deepwater mooring off the coast of Cannes was amazing, with the sun rising over the city. All in all, this was a great introductory cruise for me!

Disney Cruise to the Baltic Sea by michbo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

HappyThis cruise was outstanding.  We saw so much on this whirlwind tour of the Baltic Sea. We only had 1 bumpy day at sea with the remaining smooth.

Disney Cruise lines are exceptional. They are so clean and friendly.  This cruise line stands above the rest because of all their attention to details and for their small passenger to cruise staff ratio. If you ask for anything, the staff does it instantly and with a smile.

Excellent by ncrocker408

The Walt Disney suite, characters, smooth sailing. Everything was great. The room attendant was very helpful and courteous. My daughter and I had taken a cruise in 1998 the year "The Magic" was built. This vacation was even better. We truly enjoyed every minute. We did realize that it would be a lot easier if we were younger.

Disney Perhaps Losing it's Magic? by michcohen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our 7th Disney cruise, our second two week cruise, but our first transatlantic. While we enjoyed the trip, I wouldn't say we loved it. We specifically chose this trip, because of the large number of seas days, and the ports that we hadn't visited before.

Disney has some things they do well, and continue to do well.  Rotational dining with your servers following you from restaurant to restaurant has always been a hit with us.  Meeting the characters is always fun, and you're never too old to hug Mickey! However, we found the entertainment lacking this time, and particularly on sea days. Every day was too similar to the next, and consisted mostly of movies, a quiz (or two), and the adult show at night; there was nothing unique or even new. Many of the acts that we enjoy, like John Charles, have over the years become stale.  The jokes are the same and the show's format never varies.  Disney is well known for it's Broadway style shows, but after having seen most of them numerous times before we didn't even attend some performances.  We also found the food was hit or miss this time, and there were nights we struggled to find something to eat.  Menus that advertised regional foods were also apparently confused at to what region we were in (Russian Honey Cake in England...) The kids were in Vibe (the teen club) this trip, and for the first time they kept saying "nothing was going on." They spent a considerable amount of time in the cabin watching TV, which was unusual for them.

Also unusual this time were the port excursions.  Ponta Delgada's excursion was not as advertised.  The guide in Amsterdam walked so fast we couldn't take pictures (tourist here people!).  The excursion to Leeds Castle didn't allow enough time to actually see the castle properly.  In Portland we didn't do an excursion (we met up with family), and being familiar with Copenhagen we didn't need a tour either.  Surprisingly in Copenhagen, Disney only provided a shuttle to the town center, and nothing to Tivoli.  The walk to Tivoli was only 20-30 minutes, but late at night it wasn't a comfortable walk. We let Disney know our issues, and they said some of the tour companies were new this time...it felt like we were experimental guinea pigs.

We love DCL, but we didn't book another cruise onboard (also a first for us).  I think we're going to try Royal next year.

I really liked all the activities and stuff to do on this boat. Size doesn’t matter this ship is like no other! The staterooms and pool areas are also fun too. Especially now that the ship has been “reimagined” !!

My first cruise. Ever!!!!... by denise6344

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Magic

My first cruise. Ever!!!! Disney and Disney Magic did not disappoint. My children are 15 and 11. They enjoyed the Disney characters. I will never understand why people being such young children. They will get very little enjoyment out of this trip. If you are traveling with children and they love Disney, then they will love this. I would not have taken my children if they were under the age of 8. I found the food delicious, the service impeccable and the ship lovely. I would have loved to spend more time at Castaway Cay. Grand Cayman was a bummer. 6-7 total ships at port that day, making the tiny island crowded.

Welll first and foremost the... by dezymarie

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Magic

Welll first and foremost the food was absolutely delicious, services were great, ship was very clean but 90 percent of activities were based for children very few adult activity, I understand it's a Disney cruise however it would have been nice for some adult things, all activities end at 12 am. They do have a private adult on deck area but not much fun since everything was so mellow,no music to sing along. Great ship for family with younger children but super boring if you have a teenager or just going with a partner. If you are looking for fun singing to the sun comes up or just looking to win extra money from the casino this is not ship (FYI no casino on this ship)

Bahamas Disney magic by ivonruss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My fave was

the good

the shows

amazing running catching the sunrise.

only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is that we stopped at castaway cat and pretty much wasted a whole day. Ocean has strong waves which cancelled all water games. Paddle board- jet ski, etc. the beach is pretty but the adult part is extremely smal and limited which leaves you with BIG ZERO things to do as an adult. Is peaceful and pretty and clean and great service with awesome food. Great kid ambiance and family ambiance.

Cruise number 8, on the Magic, was fantastic. Thank you to the crew. You are the reason we keep returning. Can't wait for our next cruise in November, on the Wonder. Unless we decide to cruise again in May to see our Magic peeps before they head off the Europe.

They really do know how... by Sharon155

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Magic

They really do know how to provide a great experience. Having families on board does create a more low-key, respectful group of guests. As only 2 adults traveling, we met other adults only and were seated at dinner accordingly. Food definitely higher quality. Not having a casino was no big deal. The only negative was many areas were downright cold. As a previous cruiser, I should have known it was possible but packing sweatpants or fleece wasn't high on my list.

The Cruise staff on the Disney Magic are the best in the fleet. Jamezy, Kristina, and Darell went above and beyond to make this trip aboard the Disney Magic our best Disney Cruise to date. When the port of Castaway Cay was canceled due to the high winds the ships staff made the day super fun filled with many different events and activities!

Very late WestBbound Disney Transatlatic review. by AussieGeorge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: North America

Sorry about the lateness of the review, its over year late but I just joined the site and no recent positive West Bound Transatlantic reviews for Disney were on this site so I thought it would be useful. A fun Cruise more about days at sea than the ports or lack thereof. Fun, relaxing and full of activity when you are in the mood. The big standout is the entertainment staff particularly Jo and her comedic hosting of music trivia and the fathom's night club. The Guest entertainers and comedians were also simply fantastic.

Buyer BEWARE!! by spot11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first Disney Cruise, although we have had cruises with other major cruise companies (Carnival, Princess, etc.) , so I have a good frame of reference.

While the ship and accommodations were fine, there are some warnings I have to others that have not sailed with Disney before. First, travelers should be prepared that on top of the cost for the Cruise, Disney is constantly trying to 'upsell' more products and services. It seems everywhere you turn they find an opportunity to extract more money from you. There is a 'Pirate theme night' which naturally has a Pirate store with pirate clothing ready to sell you, There is a boutique for little girls filled with princess dresses…etc, etc. There are NO LIQUOR drinks included in the cost of the the cruise, this is all extraEven if you want a Cappucino it is more expensive than Starbucks. The biggest shock of them all is how we went to the gym onboard to a foot pain class, and they tried to sell us Good Feet shoe insets for $200! (After reviews on this product, I discovered these were a complete ripoff)

Disney has no 'conflict of interest' policy with the workers selling goods!
