Disney Cruise Line is like... by CoreyLynn24

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

Disney Cruise Line is like no other. Up to date shops and amazing staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. This was our first Disney cruise but is not our last! It is more pricey than other cruise lines but you get what you pay for! We are willing to pay more for the great service and memories! Highly recommend! 👍🏼👍🏼

Disney is quite expensive. You can count on good service but not much else to differentiate for the added cost.

Disney Dream by YiayiaViki

Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was beautiful and clean. The connecting suites we shared with my daughter, husband & children (4, 4 & 3) were roomy, comfortable and very nice. The staff overall couldn't have been friendlier. It was hot in the gym.  Machines are right by the window in the sun. Fans would be helpful.

First Time Cruise by PawpawGlenn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first time cruise. Things I like, the cleanliness of the ship and rooms, all the activities on board the ship, both adult and kid, the friendliness of all the crew members and the quality of the food. The Disney cruise app for your I-phone was great, gave you all activities, locations and time on the ship.

Cruise by CourtandNate

Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Everything was my favorite.  It was magical. I have recommended to everyone already! We loved the shows, pirate night, all the activities for kids and adults. The navigator app was the best too. If there's one vacation you can go on, it must be a Disney cruise!

Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

El nivel de servicio de todo el personal, la comida, las actividades dentro del crucero fue de primera.

Diversion garanizada para chicos y grandes. En el deck 9, teniamos una habitacion muy bien ubicada, cerca de todas partes.

This was our 1st Disney... by Katy76

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

This was our 1st Disney cruise, 5th cruise in all (RC, Carnival, & Norwegian in the past). 1st cruise to take children on (ages 9 & 11). We all loved it! I love cruises in general, but the Disney Dream had a little something extra; maybe it was that Disney magic or that it actually was superior to other cruise lines. High quality shows each evening. Personally found the variety & quality of food delicious. The Aquaduck was a winner with all our group (although Feb is still a little chilly for me). The kids were both surprised they enjoyed the kids & tween clubs as much as they did & asked to go several times. Staff & cast members were excellent. Enjoyed the art & towel folding classes. New, updated ship & rooms. Overall wonderful experience!

Disney Dream by FebruaryCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall good cruise.  Buffet was better than most, Castaway Cay was fantastic.  VERY limited adult activities, for that reason we probably won't go with Disney again.  The grandkids had a great time, didn't really spend too much time in the kids area, enjoyed the pools and pirate night.

The ship, cast and everything... by karman16

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

The ship, cast and everything overall was phenomenal. This was by far the cleanest ship I have been on. The rooms are super spacious. The cast are always trying to keep everyone safe.. from constantly drying the pool decks to handing out sanitizer wipes to everyone before entering the dining rooms. Of course I know Disney caters to families, but I just wish there was more to do for adults without kids other than drinking at a bar or watching a movie. We did have kids in the other half of our party so we mostly hung out with them when they weren't begging to be at the 'club'. Lol The kids activities are pretty amazing. The shows at night are definitely a must do!

The best part of my cruise was getting on the ship. The worse was having to leave on Monday morning. Nothing but excellence in between. Words cannot begin to describe a DCL cruise. You muse experience it yourself. Love

Honest Review of a Disney Cruise by chriscsby

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My family and I are avid Disney lovers and have been to all of the Disney World parks, so our expectations were in line with our experiences at the resorts/parks.  It was a surreal moment after the first night of our cruise, because of kids running around everywhere screaming, which is not really a problem considering it is a Disney Cruise.

CONS: The Oceaneers Club had orientation the first day which was nice, because as parents we wanted to see what was available and our kids to know what was in there.  The main problem I have with the Oceaneers Club was the hours of operation.  The next day, again the Club had another orientation, but told us we could drop our kids off at the Oceaneers Lab next door until orientation was over at noon...... My daughter of course was not having it, and after being there for about 45 minutes, we got a call that she wanted to be picked up.  The only reason we wanted to use the those amenities was so my wife and I could work out after breakfast and then pick the kids back up to spend the rest of the day with them. This brings me to my next point, the gym is small and overcrowded.  Having dumbbells that go up to 50lbs was nice, but there was not any room to do movements!  My wife and I only ended up working out that one day and decided that we would stay with the kids the whole time.  We headed to the main pool area which was another eye opening experience. Unsupervised kids running around everywhere..... the whole time.... Whenever we stayed at Disney Resorts, there were always some sort of dance party or activity that the workers/lifeguards put on, but on a Disney cruise there was a "contest" consisting of about 10 kids, on movies or TV shows that I witnessed twice during the whole trip.  So if you have nothing planned for that day, you are stuck at the pool around hundreds of screaming unsupervised kids who could care less what's going on.  Good luck trying to talk to your spouse! Also, there is one whirlpool that clearly states no one under the age of 16 should be in there with the supervision of an adult. The jets in the whirlpool did not work and there were about 30 kids in there playing without adult supervision.  There is a 20 min embarkation party with the characters when you leave port and then two nights later a pirate party with fireworks (favorite) that does not start until 10:30!!!! Why does the pirate party start so late? The gift shops on board and at Castaway Cay are VERY limited.  I was not impressed with the merchandise and it would have been nice to see some sort of convenience store.  Also, Nassau is rundown and there are people everywhere trying to haggle you as soon as you get off the boat.  If you are going to take a taxi, ONLY DO IT FROM THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BADGES.  Trafficking and stealing is on the rise there.

PROS: You are on a Disney Cruise! There is a app you can download before embarking that gives you access to their intranet.  Individuals can communicate via instant messenger and also shows when and where the character meet and greets are, activities, and a dinner menu's.  The lines for the character meets were long sometimes, but we never had to wait more than fifteen minutes! The food and staff are amazing.  Families are assigned a dining team who is with you every night.  DO NOT MISS the nightly shows.  If my wife wouldn't have made me attend all of the shows every night in the main theater, the trip would not have been worth it.  Also, room upkeep/service was amazing.  We were greeted every night walking down the hallways and they remembered all of our names.  My daughter got the princess treatment at the Bibby Boppity boutique that was a great experience, and my son got the pirate treatment on the pirate night. The people who do that are great and the kids had a great time. Lastly, all of the bathroom on the ship were super clean!

If you are deciding on whether to do a trip to Disney World and stay at one of their resorts or go on a Disney Cruise, I would say save your money and go to Disney World.  I do not regret going on a Disney Cruise, but I wish there were more activities for the kids and things to do throughout the day.  Even carnival does small silly dance parties and weird activities throughout the day.  My experience with Disney Cruise was short of magical and "just okay."

What else do you expect... by goofypolice

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

What else do you expect from Disney; excellence. Staff is great, food is great, show were great, and ship was beautiful. Only 4stars because we didn't go to castaway cay (seas were too rough, but not their fault). They created other events to make up for it. We had an interior room, it was cool to have the camera view of the ocean shaped like a porthole, with Disney characters showing up on the porthole occasionally. This was our first cruise. I hope it doesn't spoil future cruises with other companies.

This cruise was magical! I... by adamkohn

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

This cruise was magical! I was forced to sleep on the fold out couch, it was still comfortable! When I got to the port, I was alone (the rest of my party would meet me on the ship later) and they gave me Boarding group 2! I was one of the first people on the ship and it was awesome! The introduction with crew cheering was so cool. My grandmother was in a wheelchair, and was afraid we would not get good seats for the shows, but the CMs were great and very accommodating, they took us to a “crew only” area to take an elevator right where we needed to be. Although the rest of my travel mates were sticks in the mud, we enjoyed our trip!

I, to my surprise, had... by Bieryla

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

I, to my surprise, had a blast on the Disney Dream. More importantly, my 2 and 5 year old sisters did as well. I always had the impression that Disney cruises, like Disney World and Disney Land, were utter chaos for anybody over the age of 10, but the cruise line really works to ensure that everybody, no matter the age, gets their money's worth. My cabin was quite nice- the views were great and there was ample room to stretch out on the balcony. Unfortunately, that same open space is lacking in the room. Now, I still think Disney Cruises made the right call with this- many people, including myself, are only in the room for sleep, or an occasional rest through the day. Now, keep in mind the fact that it's a cruise- the majority of us don't rest in the room, but rather on the balcony, so I think the space was used quite well. There's still enough room to get ready in the morning, and if you have something against the outdoors, there's still room for lounging in the room. The food was fantastic, and the dinner service is just unbeatable (Shoutout to Miro, our waiter!!) The ship has many amenities that can keep you and the kids out and about all day. I think my only genuine complaint was with Castaway Cay- nothing to do with the ship. The walk to the beach itself can be pretty painstaking, so come prepared- bring some comfy walking shoes, and put on the sunscreen before you walk to the beach. Otherwise, things were phenomenal from the moment I left the airport for the ship, to the moment I got back to the airport from the ship. I would certainly sail Disney again, and would recommend it to all!

Merry Christmas Cruise by brettgoguen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The 5 of us took the 4 day Dream cruise beginning Dec 5. Kathryn, one of my nieces (28) was able to book the Spa special for approx $25/night, she said it was well worth the price.  This was my 3rd cruise and everyone else's first time.  The little ones really enjoyed the Oceanears Club and Lab and each took one night and ate dinner there rather than with the old folks.  The staff, as always, were pleasant and appeared to actually like being there. I booked the princess meet and greet and Anna and Elsa meeting before we left home.  This year we participated in the Fish Extender program and the girls really enjoyed coming back to the room and finding little things waiting for them.  We spend two nights prior to the cruise at the Art of Animation Cars Family Suites in Disney world and arranged private transportation to the port. In Nassau we took the semi submersible reef tour which was so so but the little ones really enjoyed seeing all the fish and the guides were both informative and amusing.  Everyone loved Castaway Cay. The shows were, as usual, very well done and we got to see Moana in 3D as well.  We also had very good dinner companions, a family of three from Minnesota who's son Orion was the same age as our youngest princess Charlee.
