I just took pictures by elgrandeguy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I didn't go on this cruise, I took pictures of the ship when it was at port.  What else should a South Dakota resident do when he has free time in Florida?  All the stuff below this is bogus so don't pay any attention to it.

Disney Dream 4 day cruise by MeganKCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have never been on a better cruise! You can never go wrong with Disney! My entire family loved it. We had superb dinner service, amazing room service, and fantastic service anywhere else we went on the ship. Disney's private island is quite literally paradise.

The parties were so fun for families. The two toddlers we were with loved all the dancing and music. We did a Wake Up With Disney Junior and the girls got to dance with Goofy! Then we did a Mickey & Friends dance party which was so fun! We loved all the deck parties.  We had trouble getting my almost 3 year old into the Oceaner's Club. They refused to let her in. So if you read somewhere if they're potty trained, mature and have someone (like a cousin or sibling) to go in with and they can go in, you are misinformed. I tried multiple times getting her in, and I was told they recently change their rules and they couldn't even let her in that day if she turned 3 the next day.

To see some of the characters we needed to pick up tickets the day before, which we weren't aware... so my girls got to see all the Princesses but weren't allowed to meet them because we hadn't picked up a ticket! So it's like a fast pass... but it just really wasn't a good idea. They paraded all these Princesses in the main area of the ship, but kids weren't allowed to meet them without a ticket. We weren't so happy about that.

The ship was so fun! It was awesome that they had two theaters, and the "Premeared" a movie that had just come out the same day, which was so cool! They dinning rooms were unbeatable! I actually think the food in Cabana's was the best. But they were all so fun. The dining service was seriously unbeatable, our waiters were phenomenal!

The photo service was REALLY lacking. They have hired an outside company and the photographers don't capture cute hugging photos or kisses with characters, they only take photos when the kids are looking at the camera. The facial recognition software they use is okay, not great. I'm pretty sure no one has ever seen a photo from the AquaDuck. They aren't many photographers around the ship just to take photos. The photo CD we prepurchased cost us $200, and we had to buy one per room, we couldn't get all of our rooms on one CD. I'm glad we got the photo CD, but the service was not good at all.

I loved the cruise overall. The only way I would have been happier (other than the stated above comments) would be if it were longer! There is just so much to do and see, 4 days doesn't seem nearly enough! We loved it!

Dream On by GSDFan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Four "senior" adults cruised again on the Disney Dream for the 4 night Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral.  This is nearly an annual escape from winter for us, usually with a time at Walt Disney World before or after the cruise (sometimes both).  This was a bit more unique than most Dream cruises we have sailed.  Although all staterooms were occupied, there were just over 3700 on board.  The number of adult only couples was down considerably, the number of older kids was down significantly, but the number of younger ones (early elementary, preschool, and younger) was much greater than normal.   We have sailed with many members of the crew before, so returning to the Dream is kind of like returning home.  Our meal experiences at Palo dinner, Remy brunch and a Remy dinner were clearly outstanding both in service and food.  The "French" side of the menu at Remy dinner had been changed just a week before; we found it terrific!  In a discussion with chefs Patrick and Cedrik, we were told there may be some very minor changes to that menu and that they were expecting the "American" side of the Remy menu to be updated in the coming months.  This is my first review here - sorry to ramble on, but I could not figure out how to make the writeup paragraph!  So I will continue.  Something new for the 4 night cruise: the Palo and Remy brunches are served on both the sea day, as well as the day in Nassau (new)!  We found the rotational dining dinners acceptable (only attended 2 of the 4 nights because we were at the specialty restaurants).  The adult only beach on Castaway Cay was really enjoyable with a much smaller crowd.  First run Disney movies were well attended, with the 3D version of Big Hero 6 being the most popular for kids; we enjoyed Into the Woods as unusual as it is - a movie musical.  We skipped the evening shows in the Walt Disney Theater because we had seen them before.  My wife's favorite spot was the spa; my favorite spot was the Cove Cafe in the adult only area of deck 11. This time we had adjoining cabins and in addition, our stateroom host voluntarily opened the divider on the verandah between the two rooms.

VERY NICE CRUISE by tricainseat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

This cruise was very nice, from the beginning to the end. Once you entered the ship you were treated like kings and queens. The entertainment was good for both the children and the adults.

Some minor complaints by Momcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have to say that this was our family's first cruise ever, so I have nothing to compare it to, but we are very familiar with Disney itself.  I didn't think I would be one who had anything negative to say about a Disney cruise, but I did have some issues with it.

First, Disney is definitely the leader when it comes to cleanliness, managing large crowds and safety.  They did an excellent job with that.

My first disappointment was with the food.  I only dined at the included restaurants, not Palo or Remy, but in all the times I've been to Disney World, I'm always wowed by quality of the food.  That didn't happen even once on this cruise.  One example:  On the first night, I choose the Lobster Pasta.  It turned out to be instant kid's mac and cheese with three small chunks of lobster lying in the middle.  My one year old ate most of the pasta; I left the rest.  I was hoping it was just a fluke, but the rest of my dinner meals seemed to follow suit.

My other issue is with the size of the kid's pools.  They have two super small pools and one splash pad for the babies.  We went in January (not a popular time) and the kids were stuffed in like sardines.  I wondered what it looked like in the summer.  Do kids have to take a number and wait for a cubic foot of space to open up?  Yikes...  As far as the splash pad, it had a strong smell of chlorine bleach, it was freezing cold and it had ten year old boys running around knocking over the babies, so mine had no desire to be there.  However, babies are not allowed in the other pools even if they are wearing a swim diaper, so she just threw a major temper tantrum and we had to leave.  As I said, I have never been on any other cruise ship, so maybe all the pools are microscopic.  However, I noticed another cruise ship docked right across from us, and the pool was huge and empty (what I would expect on a January cruise).  I couldn't help but think that those people probably paid only a percentage of what we did and they had a large empty pool to enjoy.

The disembarkation morning is terribly early.  We were supposed to be at the breakfast reservation at 6:45 with our bags ready to get off the ship.  The kids were exhausted after 3 days of cruising, so we didn't make that.  My advice would be on the morning before you disembark, pick up a few muffins and fruit  and juice from the buffet area and put them in the fridge.  Then, the kids can enjoy a quick bite when they are ready for it before they kick you off the ship at 9.

All in all, my advice to anyone considering going would be if you have children, don't go until your youngest is at least 3.  Also, consider feeding kids before dinner and then dropping them at the kid's club to play while you enjoy your meal in peace.

The kids loved the cruise and are already asking to go again, so we probably will go again sometime.  But I definitely learned a few things on my first trip that will make the second one easier!

Good Cruise - Bad Bed by Skywalker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Good - Excellent food in all restaurants and plenty of bars in "18+ Only" areas! Excellent staff everywhere on the ship.

BAD - Uncomfortable second bed in one of our rooms. The adjoining rooms were slightly different: One room had a second bed / bunk bed (from ceiling) which was comfortable. The other room had a single bed which was small and unexpectedly uncomfortable for a ship named the 'Disney Dream'.

ADVICE - Don't book a princess in that room!

Disney Dream- Very Merrytime Christmas Cruise by CruisinDiva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We sailed aboard the Disney Dream for our second time. I think we already knew this, but our cruise on the Dream proved that three nights just isn’t long enough. It is an amazing ship with just the right amount of Disney touches where it is not overwhelming! We all know that Disney does things their own way but did you know that they could not decide on a color for the ship, they knew they wanted the classic ship look and finally a co worker in the office named Monica had a pair of dark blue pants on and it fit the bill! The hull of the ship is called Monica Blue! (but she receives NO royalties…bummer) it also took two years to copyright the Mickey yellow life boats! Legally they are supposed to be orange so Disney had to prove that they can be seen in case of an emergency just as well. Yup, as usual they got what they wanted and I have to say it is a beautiful ship.

This specific sailing was a Very Merrytime Christmas Cruise. These are available on sailings departing November through Christmas!

On the ship, discover a festive fusion of holiday-themed entertainment, activities and décor—with a life-sized gingerbread house, 24-foot Christmas tree, garlands, poinsettias, shimmering lights and more! Castaway Cay also has a few Merry touches! (Did you know that 100 crew members actually live on the island!) not a bad deal huh! and for a bit of movie Trivia….Splash with Tom hanks was filmed there before Disney owned it!

Some of the Holiday onboard enhancements include:

Deck the Deck Tropical Holiday Party, a celebration in addition to Pirate Night, with candy-cane limbo, dancing and games. Tree Lighting Ceremony, where kids can help light the tree and kick off the holiday festivities, Santa Claus meet-and-greet, an exciting opportunity to take family pictures and see Santa and his elves, Meet-and-Greets with some favorite Disney Characters, dressed in their holiday attire, Teen-only and tween-only holiday parties—private celebrations where teens and tweens can hang out with new friends. Holiday storytelling, with new and old tales about holidays at sea and around the world. Themed activities and crafts for kids—decorate stockings, make holiday cards, go on a holiday scavenger hunt and more. A life-sized gingerbread house made completely with edible ingredients—and the opportunity to make your own gingerbread house. Holiday merchandise is also available for this event.

I do recommend this cruise for families of all generations. There are adult only areas and how amazing will it be for the grandparents to attend a pirate party with the kids! These are so fun! they also feature what used to be the only fireworks show at sea! Until recently Norwegian Cruise Line also has them now.

As always Disney did exceed my expectations. The service, food and cleanliness of the ship was exceptional. If you are a Disney addict you will enjoy it. If you are not….once you get past all the kids (well it is Disney)…you will also!

Second awesome Disney Cruise by brettgoguen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Again, I had two teenagers with me, (17 and 18) and they were both so excited with the trip.  Again, the boat was as close to perfect as it could be.  We had a good time, the girls enjoyed meeting our table mates, last disney cruise our table mates never showed up.  The magician and movies on the boat were extremely entertaining and the only down part of this cruise was the inability of the captain to get into Castaway Cay so we had an extra day on board.  As per usual, disney does it up right and the girls had a great time.

It's Disney and to us... by mandieparker

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

It's Disney and to us everything they do is fantastic. We have taken many cruises and this is still the one my kids say was their favorite! The food was awesome, the shows were just WOW! The crew on board literally catered to you and made everything so much fun. The price is a little too high for us to cruise Disney more often but we totally understand you get what you pay for and the quality is definitely there. With other cruise lines it seems you have to sacrifice some things when you sail a smaller ship or a shorter cruise but we didn't feel like we missed out on anything during our 4 night cruise.
