Review summary

The solar eclipse at sea was such a treat. The great ports of call with 4 generations of my family was such a blessing. This was an unforgettable cruise for us all.

Embarkation

Easy. On within 20 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining 360 was completely amazing and worth the extra money. Buffet was average. Main dining room was okay, nothing to complain about! I love the breakfast buffet hashbrowns 😂😂

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Seemed to be a lot going on. I just used the aft pool everyday and loved it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The mariachi band was fun ! I never made it to a show because I was with my 3 year old and we were in bed watching movies by 8 every night 😂

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Kids club seemed pretty nice. My 3 year old wasn't interested. He only spent 30 minutes in it the second day... But he's never been to any sort of daycare so I didn't expect him to like it. Other kids seemed to enjoy it...

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward was wonderful as always. Nearly all staff was friendly and pleasant

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is basically brand new still. This was my 2nd time on the Discovery and I have decided I like the older Princess ships more but this is still an amazing and beautiful ship..

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was an obstructed deluxe balcony and we had a great view with a slight obstruction that didn't bother us at all.

Ship tip

The aft pool is shallow, heated and my favorite place to hangout with a cold one!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Cruise terminal was pleasant

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Did the Dolphin encounter with my son, my mom and my grandma. My son loved it. There weren't many excursions to pick from for toddlers so this was a hit.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the excursion to Las Caletas by boat and it was one of my favorite beach days ever. So much fun stuff to do there. We saw monkeys, parrots and flamingos and it was all inclusive.

Manzanillo, Mexico

5 out of 5
First time visiting here. We did a pool/beach resort for the day (Las Hadas I believe it was called). It was a great port day!

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
Just hung around the port shopping center and had some lunch and a great margarita. Chose not to do an excursion here this time.

Once in a lifetime experience! ☀

Disembarkation

Walked off on our own at 7:30am and we were off and waiting for our ride within 5 minutes.

I agree with you. These Royal class Princess ships have a lot to offer but the older ones are really hard to beat.

I have a possible cabin on emerald deck. Deluxe balcony. Deck plans don’t mention anything about an obstruction. this is to me. I’ll have to do further checking thank you
