Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Plenty of options for all tastes. Mainly used Skagway and Ketchikan dining rooms (very similar). Service teams were very good. Splurged for one night in the Crown Grill which was excellent. Went to buffet a few times for breakfast and lunch and were very pleased by choices and cleanliness. Only had to spend time looking for a table once. Very impressed by the International Cafe on Deck 5. Plenty of lighter choices for all meals and open 24/7. This was also our go to stop for coffees and bottles of water. This is also the only place to get coffee in a to go paper cup to walk around with or take on deck. If I had one dining complaint it was the fact the the Salty Dog Gastro Pub (up charge) was only open for dinner so never tried it. It needs to be open for lunch so more people can try. Gigi’s pizza is also an up charge spot and was open for both lunch and dinner.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty for everyone. Did not use the pools (cool weather cruise). We did splurge for the full cruise pass to the Enclave in the Spa area. Enjoyed the thermal pool and different saunas. We planned to try the casino but strong smoke odor in the space kept us away.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the main shows as well as the illusionist, impressionist and musician’s performances around the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We found the entire crew friendly and attentive. Staff Officers were visible and seemed to enjoy interacting with passengers. Room Steward (Greenich) was excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Design is very functional and relatively easy to get comfortable with. Piazza area from decks 5-7 was well laid out and very impressive. Ship was extremely clean and well maintained. A big plus was the multiple hand washing stations in the World Marketplace area. One complaint: Casino should be closed off to the Piazza to keep smoke odor out.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Mini-suite was very nice and clean. Separate seating area and larger bathroom were a plus. Huge closet area to store all bags and hang clothes. Bed was extremely comfortable.

Ship tip

For Alaska, book excursions early. Medallion technology works well and is easy to use.

Seattle, Washington

Spent 3 days prior to cruise and a few hours the day we returned. If you have time highly recommend a day trip to Mt. Rainier. Highlights also included the Space Needle, Chihuly Gardens and Ferry to Bainbridge Island.

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful small city. Port call was only between 7-11 pm. Would have preferred a few more hours in daytime to truly enjoy the city

Ketchikan, Alaska

Disembarkation

Very easy. We used the free Seattle PortValet service to have our bags shipped to the airport/destination. Got off the ship around 9 AM and took a cab downtown to do some exploring before taking the light rail to SeaTac for a late afternoon flight.
