Review summary

This was our first cruise to a place that was not warm, so it was a little different not being able to hang out on the deck a lot. It was very chilly and rainy 60% of our cruise. With that being said, the crew did a pretty good job of keeping the activities flowing. I liked to sit and people-watch above the piazza.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were THRILLED at how quickly we were able to access our stateroom.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Luckily, we had the drink package (which we will never get again); but the drinks seemed to be watered down. I am not a regular drinker, and I still rarely got a buzz from the drinks. The food was fine. Dining in the buffet sometimes required extra patience in getting beverages. At one point we were sitting out by the pool at a table. We ordered two drinks, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. To our dismay, they took our drinks to the table next to us, even though those patrons insisted they did not order anything. We tried to tell the waitress those were our drinks, and even told her what we ordered (which was on her tray). She refused to give us the drinks; but, instead continued to converse with the table next to us as they tried to prove the drinks were not theirs. We simply left, very disappointed.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
- Fitness Center one evening (nice facilities) - Lotus Spa full body deep tissue massage - Watched the movie 'Otto' poolside on our day at sea, since it was finally good weather

Entertainment

4 out of 5
- Went to all of the shows in Princess Theatre. They were all excellent (the 2nd night of the comedian in Vista Lounge was NO GOOD). - Went to karaoke 3 nights - The 'History of Alaska' performer was excellent

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our steward was wonderful. He gets 5 stars, but I took off a star because of the waitress at the pool on day one.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean everywhere we went.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our stateroom was just the right size. Our steward kept it very clean. On our last night at sea, we could not get another washcloth, because [we were told] that Vancouver did not allow them to launder?

Ship tip

Learn how to use the app early in your trip. I love the features of the app. Great idea.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We got to Seattle the afternoon before, so we could explore the city a bit. We did the Space Needle. We really like the pier area.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
We did Saxman Native Village and Ketchikan City, and the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show - port 1. I highly recommend the lumberjack show!

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Best of Juneau Tour, which included [successful] whale watching, Mendenhall Glacier (too short of stay), and a salmon feast, which was delicious!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We also did Skagway City and White Pass Summit Tour, which went into Canada. Excellent views!

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Absolutely beautiful place!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth process. We were fortunate to be the first group Navy 4, off the ship. Our bags were right where they should have been.
