Review summary

We really enjoyed the cruise and will remember it always. I would like to cruise again, but because we contracted Covid (a risk we knew we were taking) we won't be setting foot on any ships until this virus is under control. Unfortunately, it's the passengers that can't be trusted. Wish people would use some common sense when in common areas. Princess did everything they could to protect passengers, but despite all the protocols Princess had in place, it still happened.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Went much smoother than I thought it would. We were able to get everything taken care of quickly and didn't have to wait too long to board the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dining staff was always professional, however I noticed in the Ketchikan dining room, if you didn't order alcohol, you could be ignored by the wait staff. I couldn't get refills on iced tea on a couple of occasions, this didn't occur in the Skagway dining room. The food was pretty good and the options are great. However, stay away from anything with Alfredo, those dishes were bland and tasteless. We tried to stay away from the buffet due the crowds and how rude passengers will behave there.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Michaels presentations on Alaska was great and informative. Enjoyed the Meet the Captain and Chief Engineer as well. We went to a few of the trivia contests which are fun. Was rather annoyed with the Bingo games, the guests would block access to the elevators and stairs. The crew should have put up ropes to keep them to one side of the isle.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We listened to many of the musicians but avoided the Princess theater due to passengers not wearing mask. What happened to the comedians???? We missed them!!!!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was always on top of things and he did a great job cleaning up the room every day. The wait staff were great, especially in the Skagway dining room. The staff at the Guests Services was always helpful and answered our questions as needed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was always being cleaned and well kept. Only negative is the elevators, despite putting up signs, passengers would crowd the elevators, most not wearing masks. Sometimes we had long wait times to get an elevator.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Smaller than we expected, but was always clean. Bed wasn't as comfortable and aggravated my wifes lower back issues. Plenty of storage, but missing instructions on how to input a code for the safe. Using the privacy button by the door was hit or miss. Sometimes I could get it to come on, sometimes not.

Ship tip

Wear a mask in public places. Unfortunately we did contract Covid during this cruise despite our efforts to wear a mask in public places, I suspect it most likely occured in either the restaurants or possible during a shore excursion. The ship did everything they could to keep passengers safe, but they can't always monitor every passenger.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
Go to Pikes Market, great place to see.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
We did the excursion for the totem park in the bay (can't remember the name). Saw a lot of whales, seals and bald eagles. I do recommend this excursion.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

3 out of 5
Unfortunately due to the ice field, the captain couldn't get close to the glacier, but it was still a great experience.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Our favorite excursion was flying over the glaciers. Something we will always remember - a must do for anyone going to Juneau.

Skagway, Alaska

2 out of 5
Our excursion was cancelled the night before, so we stayed on the ship as it was too far to walk into town from the dock we were at.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As with embarkation, disembarkation went smooth and without a hitch. Previous cruises this could be a nightmare for those of us with limited mobility.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

My husband and I have been wearing mask and will continue to do so. I have given up on the insensitivity and entitlement people feel they have. We have to be responsible for ourselves and enjoy life as we can, a few safety inconveniences are not getting in our way..CRUISE ON AND ENJOYπŸŒžπŸŒžπŸŒžπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ›³πŸ›³

Sorry you got the covid, wearing a mask is no guarantee that we will not catch it. Thank for your review.

I agree with you about the passengers. On May 29th, I disembarked from Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas after back to back cruises. I saw the same thing you did with the passengers. I was 1 of very few who wore a mask on the ship and on tours with the exception when I was hiking through the jungle. I haven't forgotten when I was hiking through the St. Kittian rain forest with my mask on this January. It steamed up my glasses so bad I didn't see a tree root and fell twisting something in 1 of my legs. It bothered me for days so, I wasn't going to have that happen again. Unlike the two of you, I didn't catch Covid for which I'm thankful.
