If you had a choice to travel on this cruise line, I would not even think about it. Go with a line that values the guest and the guest experience. One that does not take advantage of you because of your age, young and old got hammered with their pricing scheme. If your old, you don't know any better and just pay too much. If your young, they practically charge you for two, make veiled promises, then when you ask about the promises that their sales agents promise by phone but not in writing (although texts) then you find out you were scammed once onboard.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
It was in a terrible port and the limo that was suppose to pick me up forgot. 10 bags of luggage were waiting and finally they got it picked up.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was decent, help was not the fine European staff you would expect but inexpensive help shipped in from Asia.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Lots to do if to AR 90, love bridge, gambling, maj John, knitting, lectures, but be care, the lecture staff tried to steal money from me and providing professional services onboard when not licensed or authorized to
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Very average for such an expensive cruise. It was like carnival on a cuppachino high.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
Not for children and had very little to nothing.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Much lower than expected, but room Attendant was excellent and some of the bar and serving staff were truly kind and genuine. Some seemed like they could not wait to jump ship, and one told he did before he left on vacation. It was sad.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
Felt very old, dated, technology very far behind, no outlets in the rooms for charging devices, they rarely steam cleaned the staterooms unless requested. And the rooms not only were small, they felt chlostrophobic.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Cabin was small, smelly, very cramped, dated and not welcoming, but the room Attendant was wonderful and would do anything for you.
Was this your first cruise? I’ve cruised 20 times 5 of them with Crystal and I can vouch for the line
Service is excellent even if provided by “asian” people they make you feel confortable
At the restaurants is you want a second or third serving of let’s say caviar you get it
The cabins are not cramped or dirty specially if you compare them with other ships the bathroom is big enough for two and not as in other cruises where you can sit on the loo and shower at the same time
I agree they don’t cater to children or youngsters so not much to do for them and also entertainment is not their best feature
Food at the specialty restaurants is very good specially at the Nobu
Crystal has received for 25 years the award as one of the best cruise ship in his size and category
They have just refurbished both ships Serenity and Symphony and they have beautiful spaces
You don’t have to queue for anything
Enough outlets to charge 2 cameras 2 cellulars and one extra battery at the same time
Maybe if there were more than two people to a cabin it felt a little cramped but you have the option to go out to the veranda
Maybe next time you should cruise on one of those 5,000 passenger ships you’ll have a lot to do there long lines for everything and very cramped everywhere
