Princess Cruises has great staff at all levels. by Cruiser71136890

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My favorite part of the cruise was the entertainment at the theater.  The food was good but there were some strange things on the menu like "oxtail" and seafood soup.  It would be nice if the Internet could be cheaper.  Some of the bars did not give us a receipt for our drinks.  I always like to have the receipt.

Our room was at the front of the boat on the 15th deck.  We noticed the waves more than when we were in the middle of the boat.  It was noisy above us.  We have sailed with Princess 3 times and probably will do so again.

Great Ports, Food, Ship by bhdickson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on this cruise.  Everything went very smoothly.  Embarkation was handled very efficiently and our luggage arrived quickly.  The safety drill was also done quickly and well.  We had excellent service from our waiters and room service.  We have been on many cruises and this one was one of the most trouble-free that we've had.

The food was excellent at dinner in the dining room.  We were also mostly pleased with the selection at the buffet for breakfast and lunch.  The pizza was some of the best I've had on a cruise ship.  The only pizza that compared was on another Princess ship.  The salad bar was also one of the best.  The sandwiches were a bit disappointing.   I wasn't as impressed with the three or four lunches we had in the dining room.  The selection wasn't as good as on some cruises.  I had a grilled chicken salad that was supposed to contain candied pecans and there wasn't a single one in it.  But really, these were minor complaints.

The ports were wonderful!  We did a ship's tour to Stingray City at Antigua and enjoyed it.  At St. Kitts we arranged a mini-speedboat tour through the internet that was terrific fun.  We enjoyed St. Kitts the most.  St. Thomas is always a great port.  We took a taxi to Coki Beach and had excellent snorkeling.  We went to the cruise center at Grand Turk and had a relaxing beach day with a bit of rather disappointing snorkeling there.  I think if we go to that port again we will take a tour.

We took a debarkation tour to the Everglades and the Flamingo Gardens and then the Fort Lauderdale Airport and enjoyed that.

Never getting back on a cruise ship! by ElleNicole10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my third cruise. The other two were onboard Celebrity and they were awesome! The Princess is overpriced version of Carnival. It took us two hours to board because the previous cruise was late getting off the ship. When we finally got to our room it was not clean. The employees were rude and the room was always only half clean. The food was disgusting! It just was not a good experience and to top it off coming back the water was super rough to the point I was still sea sick two weeks after. This experience has totally turned me off of cruises. Going back to all inclusive resorts for the next vacation.

Great cruise but just a little something missing by Cruiser71416603

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean

As a frequent cruiser I was excited to board the Crown Princess. I had only done 1 other cruise on Princess and wanted to give them another try.  The food was terrific but I found the service line in the Horizon buffet a bit crowded. There was not much room to go around if you were not interested in what was being served at a certain station.  I am used to having food available 24 hrs, but the only place serving after 11 pm was the international café which had a very small selection.  The pizza, always an onboard favorite reminded me of pizza from a school cafeteria.  The cabin service was good.  The entertainment was good, but missed having a R rated comedy show at midnight. Embarkation lines were way too long!  This was a definite turn-off! All in all I enjoyed the cruise and will be sailing with Princess again. Perhaps the third time will be the charm.

What else coould happen by forrest2w

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

Landing at Florida was the highlight.  My  rights to stateroom privacy was grossly violated.  We waited five hours to board with no water or other support. We waited three hours to take a tour.  The Argentinians and Brazilians were rude and arrogant.  The programs were mediocre.

Excellent vacation experience by Cruiser86107906

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

The cruise was excellent in almost all respects.  Accommodations were comfortable, food very good, many entertainment options, and excellent service by all staff.  Only shortcoming was inefficient use of tenders and insufficient time at Ushiaia/Tierra del Fuego stop.

Cape Horn&Strait of Magellan Cruising by GholamFarboody

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

Disappointed about cancellation of Antarctica Expedition due to bad weather but Tour Guide Betsy was so pleasant and knowledgeable about the replaced excursion of Paine National park as well as Antartica itself that  took some of the disappointment away.

Food services were great ,Yes I would recommend this trip by Princess to my friends

Princess disappointed us ... not up to her standards by porteniatraveli

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

This is the 4th time I've sailed on Princess and always thought the cruise line was very good but this time it was a let down. The food was mediocre, the wine selection was non existing, the servers didn't seem happy to be there (in fact there was grumbling over heard) and the cabin attendant was ok but not really on top of things. The post disappointing was that of the port we visited all but 2 had to be tendered in and out with long waits on disembarking and embarking; it was awful, disorganized and uninformative. I don't think I will be using the Princess Cruises again.

My favorite trip! by tlbarron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

I enjoyed everything about this trip. Every excursion that I went on far exceeded my expectations. South America is very interesting. I really love the Argentine people. I like the size of the princess ship... not too big. I would highly recommend this cruise.

Crown Princess South America Cruise by lawoowoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

This ship needs updating, the buffet area is a mess, there are not enough tables and we had to spend 10 to 15 minutes walking around to find a table to sit down.

One mornin we sat by the pool because there were no tables inside, it was so windy and cold, our breakfast actually flew off our table.

the dining room was much better, but the schedule for breakfast was only until 9 am.

The food was fair, there were days it was great and others awful.

the service also leaves a lot to be desired.  Not a good experience.

Awful Cruise by elainem408

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

The cruise ship needs a new chef and some new recipes.  The food was very up and down.  The Horizon buffet was terrible.  Had a hard time getting a seat for breakfast and lunches.  The food at Sabatini's was very good, and even the food in the Bottacelli dining room was only fare for breakfast.  Cold food that should have been hot was a regular occurrence.  And none of the dining rooms or buffet could make a decent omelet or scramble eggs.  The beds were lumpy and sagging even when I ordered a mattress topper.

It was an 'experience' by ddorminey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

A lot of things happened on this cruise, most of them not good. The poor captain had to deliver a lot of bad news throughout. The Staff seemed to resent the passengers, it was definitely not the same experience that I've had on other Princess Cruises.

Multiple difficulties on this cruise by rencherfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

Embarking in Rio was costly and very hot and delayed.  Multiple issues caused us to miss being in ports on planned days and even missing one port entirely, Falkland Islands.

Crown Princess was a good Princess Cruise experience as usual.

Awesome Itinerary by traveltheworld1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

14 day cruise with 5 ports (not counting start and stop points).  Lots of sea days, so be prepared.  Rougher seas than Caribbean cruises.  Dining room food was great, service was good.  Entertainment was for people over 60.  Happy hours were a good deal.  Buffet food was ok.  Crowds were manageable except for embarkation and disembarkation.  Internet was awful for most of the time - more slow than usual cruises.  Ports were great and reasonably priced private excursions available all over.

Free internet at most ports and very reliable.

An average ship with too many sea days by davidmtb5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

I'll start off with the worst part, the food. The worst of any Princess ship I've been on.  Example: With 2 exceptions, the beef selections in the dining room were unacceptable. It's interesting to note that the cruisers on the prior leg who stayed on consistently stated it was like 2 different cruises lines. The deserts were flat tasting except for the chocolate specials and the sorbets. The itinerary should have included the Chilean fjords, Puerto Mont or Madryn to break up the 3 day legs. The entertainment was also a disappointment with a couple of exceptions.

South America 2016-17 Cruise by leojudypal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

Our favorite part of the cruise was our visit to Argentina and Rio de Janeiro.

We were disappointed of the recicling of food from dinner to lunch and repeating the same menu for breakfast every single day for the 14 days of the duration of the trip.We fell that Crown Princess it's being cutting on many areas of their services to their passengers, since this was our 4th time we've travel on Crown Princess.

17 Night Cruise from L.A. to Valparaiso by suegarson1026

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South America

What we enjoyed most was the mix of people. It was like a United Nations gathering with passengers from around the globe -- from Hong Kong to Zimbabwe -- from Russia to Israel to Canada to Switzerland  to India -- and many places in between including someone who attended the same grammar school I did in a suburb of NYC. We also enjoyed the food very much except for one incident which almost result in food poisoning. However, nothing was done to remedy this unfortunate situation onboard. What we were unhappy with was the customer complaints (in writing as well as in person) were totally ignored, i.e., the film selection was age-inappropriate (this could easily have been remedied) and the jacuzzis were lukewarm. After many complaints we simply gave up on films and jacuzzis. We think the biggest problem was that the ship sailed full. There were too many people onboard to remedy any of these situations except for nonworking toilets.  We will never again cruise on a ship that holds 3400 passengers plus crew. It's simply overwhelming. (Also, you list Honduras as one of the ports. We never got there BTW)Happy

Nevertheless, my husband and I feel that cruising for us is the best (& easiest )way to travel and provides without a doubt the biggest bang for the travel buck. What we're waiting for is a really great deal on the September 17, 2017 Holland American sailing from San Diego (our home port) to Sydney.

Great trip! by susann13453978

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I loved the service we received from the Explorer's Lounge!  Thanks Jules, Kathrizz, Mina & Ricky!  We also loved Meera at the casino bar!

Great ports with the exception of La Serena, Chile.  Not a nice place to walk off the ship.  Valpariaso was amazing!

Only huge downside to the trip was the fact that they lost our bags for the only 2 days we were in Chile so we had no clean clothes and it held up our plans for those days, as we were waiting for the bags at the hotel both days.  Princess will not take responsibility but they should.

Thanks!

Not much of an experience by bumpercarr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The Princess experience has been going downhill for the past couple of cruises that we have done with them and the Crown Princess was no exception.  Embarkation was disorganized and slow, even though we didn't arrive early at all.  We were upgraded from an ocean view to a balcony stateroom, which was nice but it caused confusion with our luggage and key cards.  Those things were resolved fairly quickly.

The entertainment model that Princess has adopted leaves much to be desired.  Honestly, it was more entertaining watching the passengers fight over seats in the Princess Theater than watching the shows.  The bars are empty, there is no music or action to be found anywhere before 9 o'clock except in the Atrium.  About once a day, their will be music or something else entertaining around the pool.  Otherwise, the Princess Patter is filled with sale opportunities at the spa/fitness center, reminders about getting your portraits done, art auctions.  Just for good measure there is a slot tournament, bingo, trivia and possibly a poker tournament once a day.  So, if you expect to be entertained, sail with someone else.

The food was good in the dining room, marginal in the buffet.   There was never anyplace to sit in the buffet area at breakfast or lunch but there were lots of folks taking up tables to play cards or other games.  I don't know if they need to be gently nudged to one of the bar areas that are empty or what the answer might be, but it is difficult to appreciate your food when you spend a great deal of time fighting to get it (third buffet wasn't opened after the first or second day) and then have to fight to get a seat.

The service was also marginal in almost all of the bar areas.  Most of the time, the areas would be listed in the Patter as being open, but there was no staff anywhere to serve you a drink or a bartender to make one.  I did notice that some of the staff seemed to be covering more than one venue.

Anyway, Princess you need to take a hard look at the cuts your making.  I think I'm a Platinum that may not be coming back anytime soon.
