Review summary

All in all it was a great cruise. I try to be more positive than negative because I live cruising. We are booked on this ship again in 2020 going to Europe so we are hoping she does get some work done on here before then. Be aware that they have cutout no smoking nights in the casino so if you like the casino and do t smoke you will die just walking in there. ThT was very disappointing for Lot of people. There was a much younger age group with children on this cruise but you never saw the.children which tells me they have a very good children’s program.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had a delay in boarding because of Coast Guard inspection. We were given later boarding times. It was a little backed up and people were antsy but the truth is most of them showed up before their time and had to wait. Not Princesses fault at all. First time for us using the MedallionClass™ and the check in was a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the main dining areas was excellent. The food in Horizon Court was not up to par. There were very long lines in the Horizon Court and people were rude and jumping inline anywhere they could. We stuck to the dining room.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
This was the worst activity schedule I have ever seen on Princess. It was pathetic. All they did was trivia, I like trivia but not 4 times a day and then you have the people they feel compelled to cheat by using their phones just to win a cheap bottle of bubbles. (Champagne) That takes the fun out of playing trivia.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Another letdown for us. The entertainment was hideous. They couldn’t even fill up the Princess theater because of the lame entertainment. Most of the entertainment was disco 🙄. They had a comedian in exploreres lounge but because of the small are there wasn’t enough seating to see him. This had to be the most disappointing part of our trip. We were in bed every night at 9:00 because of lack of entertainment.

Service and Staff

The service and staff were very friendly.

Ship Quality

We love the design of this ship. We have sailed her before and that was the reason we sailed her again. She was clean but she is showing lots of wear. I know she’s due to go in for refurb again in a year and hopefully she will get what she needs. She has a lot of rust on the balconies around the edge to the point you wonder if it’s safe to be on them.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was very clean. The couch showed some wear and tear. The refrigerator was supposed to have pieces on it to hold beverages on the door, they were all broken off. We had an issue with our toilet flushing one night. Had to call maintenance to fix it. Our friends was in D528 and they had to call maintenance 2 times because their toilet wouldn’t flush.

Ship tip

Book your shore excursions early as they did sellout quickly.

Ports of call

Bonaire, Netherlands Special Municipality

What’s not to love about Bonaire 🇧🇶. This is one of our favorite islands. It’s not touristy, it’s a laidback little island that loves everybody. We always rent a golf cart here from Bonaire Cart Rentals. This is not through Princess. These people are lovely to work with and are very honest. The cart rentLs are 95.00 US per day with a 100.00 US deposit that you get back when you return your cart. They give you a map and your off on your own to tour the island at your own pace. This is something you need to book extremely early as the sell out very quickly. They have 2 and 4 seater carts available. They take cash or 💳 T

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We booked an excursion here that took us to Magen’s Bay Beach. As soon as we got there it started pouring down rain. The bus driver let us off and he left. Be advised their is no shelter to get out of the rain here. We were all literally stuck in bathrooms for 2 solid hours trying to keep our personal items dry, especially the bags with our picture ID documents inside. This was not a normal rain, it downpoured for 2 straight hours. We did complain to Princess about the lack of shelter there and they said they were sorry but nothing they could do about it. They also said they had no clue there was no shelter there 😳. Shame on the for booking N excursion that they knew nothing about.

Willemstad, Curacao

This is a clean island. We did t do an excursion here we opted to walk into town and check out the shops. The shop owners are very pushy and they follow you around watching you. This is a big turnoff for me so I wouldn’t buy here. We did enjoy walking across the swinging bridge and ferrying across the river.

St. George's, Grenada

This was not supposed to be a tender port but due to the ship having a broken forward thrust we couldn’t dock here. The tendering was not too bad here. We didn’t do any excursions, we walked through the shopping mall and out back to some local tents and bought some spices. I don’t think I would wander too far here.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

We don’t get off the ship here. We don’t like tendering. There is nothing to do here unless you just want to lay on the beach. The tendering process is long and hot.

Roseau, Dominica

We did an excursion here that took us out to a village. It was nice to see the inland part of the island but I thought the excursion was severely overpriced for what it was.

Disembarkation

I’m giving only 3 stars on this because a person in our party needed a wheelchair. What a major chaos this was! Very disorganized and people upset and having tantrums. It was horrible. This is an area that Princess needs to work on.
