Review summary

The cruise was excellent, the Captain was about and spoke freely to passengers. The crew were full of humour and never ending assistance to passengers. The shorex were abismal and lacked leadership which meant that many wheelchair passengers missed out of tours they should have been able to go on. I did the same area on the Sapphire Princess two month previous and had not problems at all, so tours and wheelchair accessible coaches ARE available and should have been requested by Shorex. The Maitr de Hotel has excellent staff from Head Waiters down to Buffet Stewards, outstanding quality staff who worked hard and gave passengers super service.

Embarkation

This is the first time I have given four star, all, previous cruises have been five star.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
this is the very first time I have marked down the food. We returned a number of meals due to poor quality, i.e, overcooked rice, all mush, more like porridge. The head waiter returned the meal to the galley, didn't seem to work as the following week it was exactly the same. Hope things improve as we are on the Crown again next year.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows and orchestra were brilliant. The Crooner in the crooners bar was so loud that two decks below it was shattering, time to get someone who knows what is expected in a crooners bar, the hotel manager/entertainments manager should be sorting this one out. The cruise director was not as high a standard as such as Kelvin Joy, Martyn Moss etc, perhaps she needs some advise on taking to passengers and not shouting at them, change her choice of humour, not all the passengers come from Australia, the majority were Americans and an excellent group.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The kids loved the clubs and made many friends. They look forward to cruising again for the kids clubs..

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters and stateroom Stewards were first class, the buffet stewards and bar staff were excellent also. The shorex manager was rude to passengers and gave out mis-information, i.e, wheelchair access to coaches for Pisa were not available, wrong, two months previously I had a wheelchair accessible coach for the same journey, the coach took four wheelchairs. Many shore excursions were missed by many wheelchair passengers due to his lack of knowledge of the Mediterannean ports. He without a doubt spoiled the cruise for some very handicapped passengers. Front desk as usual full of knowledge and assistance when it was requested

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Crown Princess looked good, was clean and when a scare of the dreaded virus was reported the crew responded well and so did the passengers, restrictions were lifted within four days, on shore days the onboard crew attended to paint touch up etc. The ship look and was good.

Ship tip

When on board your fountain of information is the waiters and stateroom steward, shopping ashore and free wifi, they know all the secrets, use their knowledge they will help all they can. Front desk for any problems they will be pleased to assist and advise.

Not suitable for wheelchairs, looks fantastic from the ship though

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
Loved Kotor bit rough for wheelchairs with the cobbles but so friendly, helpful and free wifi on the tourist area which was a great bonus. The cafe's were good value, no tourist hike of prices

I was also a wheelchair passanger on this cruise and had the same problem trying to get to Pisa, did not like being told I could not go on organised tour as I had been before. Wheelchair accessible coaches are available in all European ports. Please pass on this information to all Shorex managers.
