Wonderful itinerary, ship, crew and tours. We recommend the Crown and this itinerary.

Perfect size ship. We much prefer the size of the Crown at around 2,500 passengers vs the 5,000 plus mega ship. The crew was excellent, experienced and highly responsive to every cruisers needs... even some quite odd ones we heard. Food quality, quantity and selection was superb. We did enjoy some specialty dining restaurants, but to be frank the food was just as good, or even better, in the standard dining rooms. Planning to sail again on the Crown shortly. Lovely ship.

Ship tip
Wonderful ship. Review the ship layout prior to exploration on the ship and discover new places and venues, such as the wonderful outdoor seating, pool and views at the stern of the ship. Did you know that the port (left) side of the ship has a red color woven in and that the starboard side has a green strip? Use this to determine where your stateroom is, port or starboard, when getting off the various elevators.
Spend a day exploring Los Olas avenue, $14 taxi ride, and the beautiful 8 mile long white sand beach. You've already paid you air to get here. Another great experience is the "water taxi" that cruises the canals here, stopping a bars and restaurants. Quite an easy way to dine, shop and see Fort Lauderdale. Why not visit one of the most scenic of all Florida cities? And cabs are inexpensive. No need for guided tour.
Wonderful beaches, blocks of shopping after you get past the usual 2 blocks of t-shirt shops. We recommend the snorkeling and lunch tour which takes you to the island of Nevis you'll see in the distance from the ship. And it's a FUN party sailing back and docking right by the bow of the ship. You'll still have time to tour the town.
Unfortunately, the ship docked at the "new port" 3 long miles from town. You disembark with a view of oil tanks and abandoned restaurant then are "herded" into 2 blocks of trinket shops surrounded by a high wall and no food venues... nothing scenic or natural about this. Then you are pretty much forced to take an open air minibus tour to get anywhere with cabs very limited to actually get to the very worthwhile town build of coral in the 1700's with many nice shops and restaurants... but almost impossible to get to since you are "trapped" by the tourist traps. Quite disappointing. The port and harbor area are in good shape with minimal damage, most repaired, from the hurricanes. However, islanders were still struggling over the hill on the other side of the island; most with still no electricity as of 12/17. Won't impact you, but regrettable that more aide has not been forthcoming, including the cruise lines.
Flat, desolate, no much to do unless you snorkel. Pretty much limited to a nice beach right in front of the ship, heavy drinking at a phony Margaritaville. or touring the newer 1 block of walled in Diamonds international and other tourist traps. Hit the beach or just stay on the ship. There is one good snorkeling tour.
