Review summary
This was a very nice time for my family to enjoy time together and the on-ship experience was wonderful. The frustrations started early with a 7+ hour delay in departing Southampton (Princess did comp us $100/person for the late departure.) This led to a late arrival in Zeebruge and last minute custom's requests from Belgium considerably shortened our shore time. Our stop in Sweden was cancelled due to rough seas and the need to use tenders to access shore but we had an extra day in Copenhagen. Norway custom requests caused us to wait 2 hours in line on ship to show our passports.
Although I realize Princess isn't in charge of the weather or custom requests I think they could have accommodated passengers better during the long waits by offering refreshments while waiting, call passengers to the custom's interview in a staggered manner, and had better waiting accommodations (rather than a long line through the smokey casino.) It became very discouraging to hear the Captain's voice with yet another bit of disappointing news. They had a very nice app for communicating with family or learning about cruise events (I would suggest an alert when a new communication is received.) I think they "missed the boat" by not having it developed where communications from ship's staff could be communicated with passengers via this app since I missed a few announcements and wasn't at my stateroom to get the written reports. I also wondered why we didn't visit Norway before Sweden due to the weather.
