Good Cruisin' by LorrieD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and we had very high expectations, especially about the quality of the food and entertainment. We were disappointed in both of these areas. Ship and staff were great. Enjoyed the ports, but stays were too short. Also too many people on board - think we would prefer smaller cruise ships.

A restful Cruise by CatherineM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship itself was very clean, a little over the top in the decoration of the public rooms. On one of our port days the port was closed and the Staff came up with nice alternatives for the passengers. I was used to a more party atmosphere, so I missed that, no conga lines or fancy trays of drinks with umbrellas, but once we got used to that we found other things to appreciate, like spontanious dancing as we exited the dining room.

The ship was gaudy and although they had most every ammenity, it was difficult to move about as the busiest venues were close together.

Lots of line-ups by RobinB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Costa cruise line's Mediterranea was a very well kept ship, although I preferred the Costa Magica which we sailed on in Feb 06. It was quite a bit bigger. Cabins were spotless. The lounges/bars were varied and intimate. The decor was amazing. We would like to have had more shoppes aboard. The one and only ADULT ONLY pool was at times occupied with children even though there were other pools for families and kids only. This was an aggravation. The pool attendant and security person were quick to ask parents to move to another pool, but parents were very slow to comply and only did so with resistance.

Not from Miami by Tp31

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Beautiful interior, however not equipped for # of passengers. Constantly ran out of ice - used ice chests in dining area. Coffee & juice machines often did not operate. Food portions at dinner were VERY small. Food, with the exception of pasta dishes, was tasteless. English speaking director was clueless regarding ports of call. Entertainment was average.

""A disappointing cruise by AnnemarieS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The food was average and the midnight buffet was very limited in selection. The ship did not have a terminal and therefore the boarding was chaotic.

History at its best by MikeI4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The ship is very large and accomodates so many passengers you lose the intimate feel and special attention you find on smaller ships. It is lavishly decorated and was fun to explore. The crew are very helpful and friendly. It is a great place to brush up on languages as five are spoken on board.

Lots of fun by ReneeM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

It is a beautiful ship. There was not enough time in ports of call, would almost prefer another day at sea as I felt like I was on the fun the entire trip. Yes it was my choice to do a tour each day but there was no free time in the port if you take a tour. No time for shopping or soaking up atmosphere and people watching.

an international crowd onboard by GloriaT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful and the staff extremely polite and gracious. We certainly received the royal treatment! Nightly shows were very enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the music throughout the lounges on the ship because the flavor of music was not only English but many other languages too. The food was fabulous in the dining room as well as at the buffet where we ate our lunches.

A fun cruise by MaggieM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Mediternea was a great ship. The staff was extremely curteous and always there when you needed something. The only thing that was lacking was the nightly entertainment. The shows needed to be more Vegas Style show rather than all the shows involving the guests. Don't get me worng one or two are fun but every night was too much to bear.

A good time was had by all!!! by PamelaC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very nice and well-kept. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful. The room was a nice size for a family of 4. The food and wait staff were excellent. The ports of call were quite nice as well. We vacationed with friends and everyone seemed to have fun. I think the kids club should have an age bracket of 10-14 so that the activities were more age-appropriate. Overall, a great trip.
