Review summary

We went over the Thanksgaving week as is a family tradition. We have been on many "U.S" carriers and we were enticed by the Eurpoean flair and kids sail free offer from Costa. It certainly was different that what you would get on the larger cruise lines. The ship itself was nice and well laid out. The intermixed smoking areas were a surprise and not appreciated. The kids area needs inmprovement but with only a total of 150 kids on board it was certainly not the priority.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The cuisine was very international. Not exactly what you would expect on a US cruise. With that said, it was good food.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not a lot to do on board. Minimal activities. Hate to say it but the TV only got one English speaking channel.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Kids program is not the highlight of the cruise. Staff was nice though.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Mostly attentive. Some staff did not know where areas were located on the ship. The ship needs more maps on board.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Nice cabin. The AC did not get the room cold enough and the room steward could not get it any colder. Good service in the cabin.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Typical Nassua. Howver, the time in prt was minimal.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
This was OK. We did not do an axcursion and stayed close to port.

Catalina Island (Isla Catalina), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Typical private island.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
The Virgin Gorda excursion to the Baths was outstanding. Although the timetable was tight, it was a great trip.
Don't Miss: Virgin Gorda Baths

Pros: ports of call, diversity, 2 for 1 drink specials, Tuscan steakhouse

Cons: smoking, better A/C in cabins, the kids slide did not work the entire cruise
