We took an interior room deck 5, mid aft. Was very noisy due to disembarkation was right below for ports and could hear staff walking and carts going down hallway. The ship is a little worn in places, but understand it's getting updates.

Book shore excursions early. Relax, the crew and staff will take care of you. Prepare for lots of sun and humidity. Sunscreen is a must.

No need to overpack - laundry facilities on several floors. If doing the South American cruise, for the best viewing opportunities have a balcony. Be prepared for a wide variety of weather - warm, cool, cold, wet and windy and some rough seas. Go prepared with any meds you may need for this and activities for your own personal interests on the sea days. Easier to have a small amount of local cash as not all items can be charged to a credit card in some stores.

The great disappointment is the total lack of quality enrichment lectures and no naturalists. The destination talks were not worth listening to. If you are interested in the destination culture and nature you should NOT choose Princess ( talked to experienced Princess cruisers that confirm that this is typically princess). Fortunately the captain told us when we passed Cape Horn!!

While waiting to disembark, sit in a pool lounge chair on the Lido deck. Great viewing, comfortable, and plenty of room for your carry-ons.

Small library with just a few chairs, and you had to get there early or you could never get a seat to read. They camped out in them all day.
