Great Cruise but very AARP by nkrajci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

My favorite part of the cruise was zip lining in the Costa Rican rainforest.  The ship was clean, and well maintained.  Our room was always clean and tidy.  Our room steward was perfect. Food excellent. Buffet was over crowded and hard to find a table.  The average age of passengers were over 70 y.o. and the majority  were rude on ship and off ship.  One lady almost took out the head waiter with her scooter on our first dinner seating as she was demanding to get to the table with her shipmates.

Panama Canal 2016 by merlek1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We were given the name and direct line a c cruise planner.  We left many messages and Diana Herrera never called us back.

The shows and the casino could use some updating.

There was ALWAYS a line at the front desk

They need to communicate with their shore people better as no one properly explained the internet process.

In the shops they need to be nice to the customers and not "nickel and dime" the patrons.  If 2 T-shirts are $20 then the third one should be $10 not $12.99.

That said, the balcony cabin was wonderful.  This is the first cruise I didn't feel like I was in a shoebox.

The food and the service great.  The staff was nice.

Destinations were fascinating.  They need to know more about the excursions, as we would have totally picked differently if we had more information.

Panama Canal Cruise by jcbcpa

The Panama Canal is an engineering marvel and quite interesting to witness in operation.  The onboard lectures provided by Chris Roberts were very well done and Chris is an excellent public speaker.

Great way to rejuvenate! by hatchhiker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This was our first cruise.  I read many blogs that suggested ways we should be prepared, but most of the extras I brought as a result were really unnecessary because the Princess had plenty of space, hangers, hair dryer, laundry, etc.  We were very comfortable.

The excursions were wonderful.  I'm so glad we chose to use cruise excursions.

A WELL DESERVE VACATION by silverbeach2149

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

My husband & I just came back from the 10 night Panama Canal Cruise. We had a wonderful time, except when we went through the Canal it took a long time. Then the ship spend just about the whole day in the water, before the dock. buy the time they dock it was 8 PM, most of the the stores were close. All those hrs it spend in the water it could dock so the passengers who choose not to go on a tour can get off. Also their is a television in the room, but u cannot find a good movie to watch. They run the same love boat all day. Change it up some. I am a big love boat fan but I was tired of seeing the same one over and over. Channel 43 suppose to b the move channel. That count down of the best & worst is a waste of time. We just want to stay in our room and watch a movie, nothing else.

Had a woderful time! by kmaultsby

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

This was an amazing cruise! The main attraction, of course, was the Panama Canal. And it was a bonus to have stops in Aruba, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.

10 days Panama Canal in transit by tesssf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

i was so impressed about my birthday celebration when the steward Geb put an extra work to put up the balloons and greetings outside of our cabin and that is truly touched my heart as well as the special cake after my dinner ..

the schedule in the patter that included a bible study at 0800-0900 unhosted but a great Blessings to me to be able to meet the couples who are in the ministry and other passengers who also have the desires to study God's work during the cruise and the Sunday worship service that was assisted by Mr Corey to set-up the place and provided us a pianist .. what a wonderful cruise experience that I  had that I never had from my other 6 cruises .. this was the unique and friendly staff from our cabin Geb , Moore who was smiling and courteous to us, Mary grace from other steward and the 2  other Mary Grace who was keeping the ladies room super clean and smile at us as well ..

the jewelry Dept EFFY staff Nataliya, Chantall , Felipe and Ivan are all very attentive to our questions about the products and helpful to assist us ..

my only comment about this cruise was my luggage did not arrived that soon in my room and it was missing for 4hours and I already reported it at the front desk that I have a concern that my luggage needed to transfer to the new room assiged since it was upgraded but it seems like there was no clear answer why they can't  find my luggage soon enough.. it was frustrating since all my medicines was in there and I never had any problem in the past not receiving my luggage .. I visited the person on the front desk 4 times and checking my room every hour so I can take my medicines...

Lovely Ship by tpeggy24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I loved the fact that there was only 2500 people onboard. It wasn't too big or small/. There is an unhurried feeling when there is no pushing and shoving involved. The vacationers were like minded, and respectful of each other. Not noisy or rowdy crowds.

A much-needed R&R by jw67247793

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Our Panama Canal cruise on the Coral Princess provided us with much-needed rest and relaxation.  It was the perfect number of at-sea days, combined with good ports of call.  There were a good variety of activities on board, too.  The food in the dining rooms was fantastic.  The Horizons Court was a little disappointing.  They were trying to be too many things to too many people.  (Too many ethnic dishes.)  The ship is a little dated, but it was still clean and well-maintained.

Relaxing Adventure by whittenrobverizonnet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

If you want to be taken care of by proficient personnel while exploring new destinations, then you will want to sail aboard the Coral Princess.  Our stateroom was comfortable and the steward was respectfully thorough and friendly.  The goal of the trip, Panama Canal, was amazing and engaging.  Other ports of call were interesting and informative with many options in tours and total planning to make them not only happen but happen well.

My only suggestion for improvement is to alter the process by which to enter the dining rooms without the long lines which frequently occurred.

Cruise was good but not the best I've been on. by stevejeannette

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The ports of call were the best part of the cruise . The cabin stewardess could have been better.  Seemed like maybe she was new, don't know.  The buffet food was okay, we figured out that the dining room for breakfast was better.  I think they need a better description of their tours, old & new Panama was a bit deceiving .   should have said the ruins of old Panama.  The cruse line should have also taken into consideration that it was Independence Day in Panama. We were pretty much in the way of their parade with our tour guide trying to talk to us, we couldn't hear him & thank goodness we didn't speak fluent Spanish, they were probably cursing us for being in the way.  Poorly planned!

Fall, pre-Holiday get away vacation by londovchik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Having cruised with a number of other cruise lines, this was my first Princess Cruise and the fist time I used for my booking.   handled all the details of my booking and everything worked smoothly.  I really felt that they attempted personalized care for their clients and the message conveyed through.  Princess Cruise Lines is also a good solid organization that pays exceptional attention to all details.  Their food, entertainment and client care is well above average and provides for a smooth, enjoyable and relaxing vacation.  The cruising clientele was also very homogeneous and openly friendly helping Princess to convey their "Family Philosophy" feeling.  Overall, a great experience.

Grandpop helped build a great treasure by bigstevesp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

A bucket list must.   Wonderful cruise.   Some things we didn't like however and some we liked.    The food was excellent, the staff were well trained and our room attendant was the best.    Thank them all.   What we didn't like was the long lines in the anytime dining room.   That needs to be managed better.   I would suggest you give people a range of time for coming to the dining room.   That way you could break it up into a few ranges.    You don't have to enforce it, but it does make people think before they go down for dinner.   And maybe, as I thought, you didn't have sufficient help in the dining room.   A few times we felt rushed and not attended to in a timely manner.

The big screen  on the Lido deck does not work well in the sun.   Their must be some kind of shield that could be retrofitted over the screen to allow for better viewing.

I was a little taken back that the attendants at the buffet dining did not insist that you use the antiseptic.    I saw a number of people come thru without taking it.

The ports of call are too short.    Maybe you could cruise a little faster on the first 2.5 days and give us more time in port.   And you could skip that port in Costa Rica.  The town is not worth getting off the ship.   Maybe another island instead.

Very well done on embarkation and debarkation.

We'll come again.

Worst Cruise Ever by Cruiser84554548

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Immediately on embarkation, we were assaulted by a smell reminiscent of a dirty diaper pail on a hot day.  This smell remained for the duration of the cruise, was worse in certain areas than others, and often came blowing into our stateroom in the evening. When we asked guest services about this, the reply was, "we don't smell anything". By the end of the cruise, it was literally nauseating and there were certain bars my husband refused to even enter because the smell was so bad.

Balcony stateroom deck 10  -  Inadequately air-conditioned.  When we asked about this, we were told that it's because it's hot outside. Isn't that the point of a/c?  Even after keeping our shades closed all day, it was so hot that we did not sleep well for 10 nights. Our shower flooded the bathroom every time we used it because the caulk around the drain pan was old and peeling. Carpet was loose from the walls. Toilet malfunctioned on the entire deck twice.  (To be fair, this was resolved relatively quickly)

One evening at dinner, the water tasted so horrific that it was undrinkable. We were told it was a chemical used to sterilize the water tanks. When we asked to have bottled water so that we had something to drink with our meal, we were told that the water wasn't harmful so we would have to pay for bottled water.

I could go on with examples...however the bottom line is that the customer service was horrible. I understand that issues come up and there is no perfect experience, but the attempt by the staff to even address anything was essentially nonexistent.  We paid a lot of money for this cruise and the experience did not come close to matching the cost.  I have never been so glad for a "vacation" to end.  We always choose Royal Caribbean or Celebrity, but because they didn't go to Panama Canal, we chose Princess.  Never again.
