Review summary

This was our first cruise.  I read many blogs that suggested ways we should be prepared, but most of the extras I brought as a result were really unnecessary because the Princess had plenty of space, hangers, hair dryer, laundry, etc.  We were very comfortable.

The excursions were wonderful.  I'm so glad we chose to use cruise excursions.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Unfortunately, I got a mouthful full of cardboard in an omelette in the Provence dining room for breakfast one morning. It was a charming gesture the crew sent a plate full of chocolate covered strawberries as an apology.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We don't gamble or drink. My husband enjoyed the basketball court. I went up to the lido deck one morning to set in the hot tub, but it was netted off.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Second comedy act was rather crass.

Cabin / Stateroom

Window and air-conditioning made this an ideal room for us. Toilet bowl had mold in it until I took the brush provided to clean it. Our glass drinking cups in the stateroom were never replaced with fresh cups.

Ship tip

Beautiful ship. Liked that it was small for our first cruise. In fact, I don't know if I'd like to cruise on a ship much larger than the Coral Princess.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Enjoyed the airboat ride.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Enjoyed the submarine ride.

Cartagena, Colombia

Enjoyed the mangrove ride via canoe!

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

5 out of 5
Fun to observe the locks.

Colon, Panama

3 out of 5
Panama Canal embarkation was bewildering in that no one on land knew what was going on and we could see the ship 100 yards away from the port and the port was vacant. We as passengers (on a whole--most were complaining) were confused as to the extreme wait.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
I did the zipline while my husband took a boat ride along the canals. Both were exceptional--my husband really liked the howler monkeys.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
The bobsled was a novelty. We also enjoyed the walk up the falls.
