PURSUIT OF PANAMA by venkatalanka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

GREAT EXPERIENCE IN GOING FROM ATALANTIC OCEAN (*CARBIAN SEA) TO PACIFIC OCEAN (ALTHOUGH THE SHIP TRAVLLED HALF WAY - WE TOOK ANOTHER BOAT TO SEE OTHER LOCKS AND PACFIC OCEAN). IT IS FANTASTIC TO DISCOVER WORLD'S 8TH WONDER.  LEARNED A LOT DURING THIS TRIP ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES AND THEIR CULTURES.

THE CRUISE PERSONNEL ARE VERY HELPFUL AND THEY PROVIDED A GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

THE FOOD ITEMS MAY NEED TO CHANGE - SPECIFICALLY SAME DESERTS MOST OF THE TIME.

Wonderful by stansburyal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I chose this cruise based on the itinerary and a previous good experience with Princess.  I wasn't crazy about all the days at sea, but truly enjoyed the port lectures by Dr. Dean (may I have his job when he retires?).  The crew is wonderful.  My steward, Domingo, was terrific.  All the dining room staff were great.  The mattresses in cabin Plaza 536 do need replacing as even when the bed in made the dips are obvious, making it impossible to use my "queen-sized" bed as a queen-size.  I could only sleep on the side less worn.  Shore excursions were great.  In Jamaica, the open-air tour of a plantation showed a lovely horse and carriage.  Be warned it is actually a hay wagon with benches (no ladder for climbing up)  and towed by a smelly diesel tractor.  Tour guide, Donovan, was okay EXCEPT for the many, many Monica Lewinsky jokes that were out-dated and in poor taste.  Check-in for the cruise was easy as was disembarkation.  I chose the EZ option so Passenger Services printed my boarding pass and got my suitcase to the airport.  It arrived at my final destination in good shape.  This service is well worth the $20.

PANAMA CANAL...CORAL PRINCESS by carolinagirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This was our first PRINCESS cruise.  We were a little disappointed in the food.  It was nothing sensational and they seemed to repeat the menu often.  The ART exposition was not organized, but had a delightful director who knew his stuff.  I had won a free picture but was treated totally with no respect and I just simply never went back nor chose my free print.  The service on the ship was very good.  We did enjoy the calibre' of the cruisers.  We felt the entertainment , i.e., with live shows to be a disappointment.  The daily "craft events" were not very enticing and had one teacher that bordered on rudeness.  We will  not be returning, but will go back to our favorite, CELEBRITY.    The Panama Canal and other destinations were good.  We recommend the land adventures  for the Canal  for the "Past, Present and Future".  It gives a great overview of the entire process.  Also of interest for women is shopping on the ship.  They have a limited line and used one of the dining rooms to haphazardly display the $10.00 line from Bijoux Turner.  They advertised up to 75% off on the last cruise day and it was a total disappointment as the most discounted was about 40% and some discounted none.  All in all the itinerary of PANAMA was excellent.  Oh, beware on the Panama Day there was total DYSFUNCTION  LACK OF PLANNING AFTER THE SIDE TRIPS...people were dropped off at the cruise (dirty) terminal to await the arrival of the Princess from the Canal to pick us up.  Many sat on floors for over 3 hours with not water or a/c...and when the ship arrived it was like a mob scene with folks almost getting trampled, tempers flaring, etc.  The ship should have refuned some of the fee for this ordeal.  Hope this does not dampen your decision.  You will love the cruise locations...just don't have high hopes for a touch of luxury.

Tick off the bucket list, awesome cruise by dianeway

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The cruise was great. My husband's luggage did not make it on the ship before we left, so he received his luggage at the first port 2 days later. As there was a formal night Princess gave him a tux to use for the whole trip. He looked awesome. One of the girls went beyond help with trying to keep track of his luggage and keeping him informed. Great job.

I did miss seeing towel animals each night as on other ships in the past.

I felt that formal night was a bit strict in that men could not have bare arms. My husband had brought a dress shirt and tie, but would not have been able to wear it in the dining room. We have not run into that problem before in our last 11 cruises.

Lots of choices in the Buffet, but for me too much fish options and not enough regular food in the dining room. Love the way Princess does the Baked Alaska, turning the lights off and walking thru the restaurant. I have only ever seen it done on a Princess ship.

Staff was very friendly really loved the BOGO drinks option twice a day.

It was also my husband's birthday during cruise and they decorated our door and gave in a special dessert. We are doing a Carnival one in Feb 2015 for my daughters birthday but was told by them that we would have to pay for that.

I liked that the ship never felt overcrowded and that you never had to worry about running into alot of people smoking everywhere. That was kept to only 3 spots that I knew of.

Overall, I would totally recommend this cruise to anyone.

Excellent and most enjoyable experience by FortLauderdale

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I enjoyed the fact that during this cruise there was something for everybody; listening music, quiet and solitude, dancing and fun, sun or shade, heat or air conditioned areas. Regardless of the mood, you could find it on-board.

Food was excellent and available at all times. I especially enjoyed the smaller portions during dinner.

The staff were excellent. They are all about service and how to make your time more enjoyable.

The cabin, balcony was good however it would be a lot better if they added another arm chair, after all there are two passengers per cabin, so why not have two arm chairs?

I love the hand sanitizer prior to entering food areas; great idea!

I was disappointment that most of the lectures offered ended up with something to sell to the audience. I think that lectures and seminars are great but it would be best if they did not try to make it a selling session.

It was an excellent cruise, some of the ports I should have considered staying on-board where it was much cooler.

Yes, I would do this cruise all over again and do recommend it to my friends.

Not happy with the Cruise Only personnel that helped us. Once we signed and paid for the cruise they would not return our calls which we make with important questions like medications etc. Very disappointing! Luckily Coral Princess made up for the initial disappointment.

I will gladly reply to any individual questions sent to me.

This cruise is a most.  The service, food, ship, and ports are all amazing.  This is definitely the type of boat that makes you relax and detach from the world.  I would highly recommend going.

Panama is beautiful by gdemers4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We had a great trip.  Weather was beautiful.  Second trip to the Canal and was just as nice as first trip.  Coral Princess was very clean and entertainment very good.  Went on shore trips a each port and had a good time.  We got off the ship in Panama to go to the Indian Village.  Could be the best trip we have taken on our ten cruises.  Just another great trip on a Princess ship

Panama was great, but encountered problems by zaneblackburn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We enjoyed seeing the Panama locks, but the ports of call weren't that great other than Aruba.  The ship had the worse internet we have had on the ship and the ship's guest services could't care less.  Our cabin fire alarm went off and no one responded.  Again, guest services simply said it happens a lot.  I wonder what they do if a real fire occurs - not a safe thought.  Our cabin steward thought it was so important that we sign for a bottle of water we used that he came into our room without permission while my wife was taking a shower and I was on the baloney.  Luckily my wife didn't come out while he was there.  I guess we should have put a chair against the door to ensure privacy.  The food was OK, but we expected better since we thought Princess was a higher class - but it isn't.  One night our dinner was horrible, and other passengers that made that selection agreed.

We probably won't cruise Princess again.

The best "Bucket List" wish!!! by joywheel12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

My husband, Dick, celebrated his 85th birthday the last night of the cruise!!! Seeing the Panama Canal was on his bucket list, & he was absolutely thrilled with the entire experience. We enjoyed the crew and their absolutely courteous, pleasant & fun personalities! We also thought the food was good, the passengers were friendly & the weather was perfect!! We love Princess, having taken an Alaskan cruise many years ago. If we are fortunate enough to take another cruise in the future, we would DEFINITLY choose Princess! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Panama Canal partial transit by nosslinda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Husband and I, in our 60's. Never been on a Princess cruise, went on a recommendation by a friend. I was so surprised by the makeup of the people on board. Mostly retired, I would guess. Not so many children(maybe the time of year). Loved the ship, crew was always helpful and kind. food was great and always available. Smooth seas helped to make this cruise a relaxing time! Would recommend.

Crew Recognition by DapperDan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Excellent experience. Wait staff was outstanding. We had early dining at table 183 in the Provence

dining room. Our head waiter, Menino was outstanding, as he seemed to know when we needed

something and was right there to take care of our needs. Ass't  waiter Brad was also very efficient.

ANASTSASIA, THE  WAITRESS IN CROONER'S LOUNGE, WAS UNBELEIVABLE. SHE IS

PROBABLY THE MOST UPBEAT, ENERGETIC WORKER I HAVE EVER COME IN CONTACT

WITH . SHE DESERVES A PAY INCREASE. CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HER.

Enjoyed the ports. Excellent tour guides in Panama and Costa Rica.

Entertainment on board lacking in comparison to Royal Caribbean along with on board daily activities

on days at  sea.

Ship personal exceptional!

Food just o k, but pastry chef excellent.

Will probably not choose Princess again.

Coral Princess by chuckreed

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

No tvs in bars.  Smoke lounge small and very hot.  By booking early we ended up paying 3 times more for cruise.  Very little things to do on board.  Panama port was real bad.  However serve was real good.  Crew members really work had to please.  Food all over ship was ok but have had much better food on other cruise lines.  We took this cruise to see the Canal it was very nice.  I dont see a reason to return to the Princess Lines again.  Very disappointed with the price of cruise after finding out what other people paid.

Panama Canal Adventure by laureenbacon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We really enjoyed all the ports of call.  We went snorkelling in Aruba on wrecks; visited old town Cartegena and enjoyed many of the historic buildings, including a show from local dancers and musicians;  tendered to meet a bus to take us to a historic tour of Panama City, checked out the locks to the Pacific Ocean - we also had a window so we could observe our transit through the locks and experience first hand our gigantic ship being lifted by the rising water to the next lock; experienced the jungle by train and boat in Limon which afforded many instances of viewing wildlife; and self-toured by way of taxi in Ocho Rios and saw lots more of the area than we did the last time we were there.

The service and food onboard was excellent.  The shows and entertainment were very enjoyable.
