An Alaska cruise is worth it even on a dinghy. Only problem is the scenery and trip is such a constant high you may become used to the awesome sights.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Easy and smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was only average. Open dining was such that after two days of meals we resigned ourselves to the buffets. Being told that I could not order 2 entrees really left a bad taste (I did not know if I was going to like what was the main entree, I wanted to also order the hamburger- also on the menu). Buffets were fine if all you wanted was chicken. The action stations did not offer anything other than what was on the buffet.
Service could have been so much better than it was. Most of the wait staff seemed as if they wanted to be anywhere else than there. It also didn't help that English were nearly an extinct language among them.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Used very little of them. We were on the cruise to see Alaska not the ship after all. Did take advantage of a photography seminar by the resident photographer on how to best set up our cameras for taking outdoor pictures, and she was very informative and helpful.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Only reason why I rated this section so high was because of the excellent service by our room steward.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Maybe it was because it was an older and smaller ship, but it seemed like you couldn't get anywhere without going down the room halls which made us feel like rats in a maze. Our room also was at the rear of the ship and it seemed that ALL of the dining rooms and activities were at the front so we were always walking a lot.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Plenty of room for two. Balcony was good. The scenery from the balcony was magnificent.
Ship tip
Definitely make sure your room is in the front of the boat and as high up as possible to avoid walking a marathon daily. All of the activities seemed to be at the front of the ship.
