Review summary

It was great. Alaska is amazing. There is so much to see. If you love the outdoors than Alaska must be on your bucket list.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We did the 3 day land tour prior to the cruise. We rode the train from Denali to Whittier. Princess had some agents come on board near Anchorage and checked us in to the cruise. By the time we got to the ship we were all checked in with cruise cards in hand. Never has it been this easy. Our luggage went ahead and was at the ship when we got there.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I was told years ago by a friend who is a frequent cruiser that princess had the best food. To me it was pretty much the same as any of the other cruise lines I’ve sailed with. That being said it was good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We attended several of the shows along with the games, trivia, and lectures. I really enjoyed the trivia game Hollywood Hiccups.

Ship Quality

I thought the ship was nice. It never felt crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a mini suite. Most of the time I would say the extra space isn’t necessary but since there is lots to see while scenic cruising it was nice to have a warm indoor sitting area out of the rain.

Ports of call

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

All we did is boarded our ship here.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

It was amazing to see

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
It’s so amazing to think all of this was carved out in the last two hundred years. We saw the John Hopkins, Grand Pacific, Marjorie and one other glacier. The John Hopkins was a rare treat that most never have the opportunity to see. It is one of the fastest moving glaciers at 12’ per day.

Skagway, Alaska

We did the Haines bald eagle preserve river float. We saw probably around 40 bald eagles.

Juneau, Alaska

We went on the Mendenhal Glacier and Whale watching tour. It was a small group tour of about 15 of us. The hike to the spot where we viewed the glacier and nugget falls was very informative with our knowledgeable guide Jim. You don’t go to the glacier, falls or visitor center with this tour. The best part was the whale watching. We saw Orcas and Humpbacks. We had Orcas breaching. We had Humpbacks breaching. It was truly phenomenal. It was better than going to sea world! The tour was with Gastineau Guiding company. Our captain was James and our guide was Jim. Jim also helped us set up our cameras so we could show our memories to others.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The port was nice. We didn’t do a tour just checked out the town.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

We just went to the airport

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The disembarkation was easy enough. The worst part was going through Canadian customs to screening to US customs but that’s the world we live in.
