Review summary

Very nice looking OLD ship, food in the main dining room was excellent! Service was as expected very good! Indoor pool was a great place to relax and was underused, hot tubs were clean and not full of screaming kids....the Panama Canal was a great experience! overall a great cruise!

The reason for a three star rating is that our cabin (D334) kept flooding with water from broken pipes, not just a little leak in the pipes, but like a garden hose flooding the cabin at 3:30 am. the bathroom had over an inch of water in it, our clothing in the closet was wet the carpet in the entire cabin was like a sponge.....their response .... "sorry we can give you a laundry voucher to dry yoour clothing", we don't have a cabin to move you to! No real apology, just a fan in the hallway that ran all night and soggy carpet for 3 days.

Just when we got the carpet to start drying out on day 5 another pipe broke in a different place...this time over the bed! I came in from the Lido deck to change for dinner and the furniture was stacked up on the balcony and against the wall ,and there were 6 or 7 workers tearing the ceilings out over where the bed was our shoes and belongings stacked on the empty bed frame! Now all of a sudden they had another cabin for us? My 85 year old mother who was in are suite demanded to see the Head Purser, we got an assistant....very nice , said don't touch a thing, we will move you.....what a mess!  I sent my mother down the next morning to the Pursers desk to find out what if any action would be taken, if any? He politely said that he could only offer us a 150 dollar onboard credit for the inconvenience. He said that if we were not happy with that that we could write a letter when we got home.

Now 150 dollars is a nice gesture, but our neighbor in 335 received a 700 dollar credit for "soggy carpet"....I think there should have be a little consistency in the compensation they were offering?

Other than spending 1/2 a day in the laundromat, squishy carpet, not getting much sleep because of the water vacs starting up at 5:30 am in front of our cabin and the fans running in the hallway all night....It was a terrific cruise!!!!!

horrible cabin, full of water most of the trip!

Ship tip

The indoor pool is a great place to chill as it is not crowded and the bartenders and wait staff are not too busy to take good care of you!

take the 179 dollar excursion....well worth it as you go through the cut and Pacific locks all the way to the Pacific Ocean....long and hot (10 hours) but if you want to see the Panama Canal....this is it!
