Review summary

We loved a lot about this cruise. The ship was smaller which we loved and nicely appointed after the refurbishment. The staff was very friendly and always smiling and saying hello. Cabin was super quiet and fabulous. Main complaint is that none of the bartenders knew what "up" meant, a standard practice and bartending 101. Not a single one from Cellar Masters, to Sky Lounge, to the Martini bar knew what this was when I ordered a "Double Disaronno Up" and I had to tell them every time, chilled on ice, then strained...NOT ON ICE. Other than that, and that the food around the ship on the last day seemed to "phone it in", everything was great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was great until the last day, it seemed like every dining option was "phoned in". Bartenders really need more training as none knew what it meant to order a drink "up". NO ONE.

Onboard Activities

Trivia was fun, arrived and BINGO was going on one time, this needed to be in a larger room. They made a killing on their "Deal or No Deal" game.

Entertainment

Nu something was very good, but there was an Asian girl that sang 3 cents flat on every song and she sang nightly in Rendezvous. Rox "tar" was a self grandizing host who talked waaaay too much about who he knew, had met, or performed with. It was very off-putting, but we love trivia so endured it.

Children's Programs

Our 9 yr old liked the games, the themes, and that the helpers would play with her if no other kids would.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was smiling, saying hello, and offering to help all over the ship. It was a nice change.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
While an older and smaller ship, we prefer smaller boats and felt the refurbished choices were nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I liked the over-sized chair being a sitting option in addition to the chair at the desk/vanity. There was plenty of storage and well lit. Wish the air could have been colder at times.

Ship tip

The midship elevators are portside and not in the center of the ship. This was hard to get used to.

Ports of call

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

It was so neat to see the glacier up close!

Juneau, Alaska

The bus driver/your guide was awesome. The guide on the boat was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. The captain made sure we had lots of time to view the whales. Great day!

Skagway, Alaska

My personal favorite day. I loved the town, the dog mushing, the scenery, it was all WONDERFUL!! My only criticism is that the other 2 excursions had us meet in the theatre and this port did not. It would have been nice to have Celebrity personnel out at the ship dock letting people know where to meet more than 15 min beforehand as we walked all the way into town before we realized something wasn't right and went back to the ship.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The Saxmon Totem park was a joke. 50 yards of grounds with 6 or 7 totem poles with hardly any backstory explaining the totem poles. Very disappointing. The Lumberjack show that followed was underwhelming and heavily staged. We would have preferred authentic demonstrations of the tasks they "competed" in rather than a show we could see in Gatlinburg, TN. The shops were greatly commercialized and overpriced.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Smooth sailing. We didn't get off the ship.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Nice port to end a cruise on being smaller. It was a little chaotic to try to get out of the building after obtaining luggage, but we managed.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
While the disembarkarion was quick, it is a really bad idea to have everyone lune up and leave on the same deck the main dining room is on as people were trying ro go to breakfast as people were trying to leave the ship. Two lanes of traffic with suitcases in tow, down a small corridor is poor planning.
