Review summary

We enjoyed our first time on Celebrity, and we are looking forward to plan our next trip!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
After a long flight, it was very refreshing to have very short lines and the staff moved us though quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good in both the main dining and the buffets. We did not go to any of the specialty dining. We wanted to do takeout from Sushi on Five, according to the app it opened at 2 pm but really was not open until 5 pm and we did not wait to eat a full meal that close to dinner. Also, we wanted to dine at Qsine but that was closed for our sailing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We only had one day at sea and we spent in kicking back on a deck chair one deck above the pool. We enjoyed the ocean view and the music coming from the pool area. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that only once maybe twice did we have anyone come by to take our drink orders. We were there for 4 or 5 hours.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the comedians and musical entertainers. The Celebrity performers were amazing.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The majority of the staff were very friendly, and their service was great. Unfortunately, there were a few that appeared bothered by our existence.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was recently updated. I really like the more upscale design and color pallet. We also loved that the casino was non smoking and we did not have to walk through clouds of smoke.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was laid out well but rather narrow. You only had maybe 12 to 18 inches between the end of the bed and the wall.

Ship tip

If you are invited to the sail away party for first time Celebrity Cruisers, I would recommend you go. We met some great people and enjoyed beautiful views as we left Antigua.

Ports of call

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
We booked an excursion with St Kitts Shore Excursion: Nevis Beach Getaway. We specifically booked this tour so we could take a catamaran to the beach. My bother-in-law had never been on a catamaran and wanted to go on one. Unfortunately, the company overbooked, and we did not get the promised catamaran. After we contacted them, they did give us a 50% refund. The beach was lovely, a little rocky at the shoreline and I wished we had brought our water shoes. We had some of the best fish tacos and coconut shrimp. Everyone from the guys on the boat to the staff at Lime Beach Club were very friendly and the service was good.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
We love the beaches on Barbados. We did have a bit of a problem when we arrived. We had booked a Beach Bum Day through Cruiseline.com & Shipmate. The tour company sent us an email the day before, our first day at sea, canceling the excursion. Luckily a gentleman at the port directed us to a taxi that took us to the Copacabana Beach Club where we enjoyed a nice day in the sun and swimming in the ocean.

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
The beach on Antigua was picture postcard perfect. This was the only excursion we booked with Celebrity. We booked the Kayak and Snorkel Eco Adventure. They took us by bus to Antigua Paddles where we boarded a boat to one of the many small islands around Antigua. Since we had snorkeled the day before we decided just to hang out on the beach. There was a wonderful lady there that sold the best rum punch. We then left there to go to where they had the kayaks. We paddled in the mangroves. We returned to Antigua Paddles clubhouse where we enjoyed baked banana bread and more rum punch.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We booked a private snorkeling excursion to St. John’s with USVI and BVI Private Boad Charters. Our boat captain Larry was great and took us to some wonderful spots to snorkel. If you want to have a great time and no crowds this is the way to go.

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5
The was a pretty island. We booked a snorkeling tour through Cruiseline.com & ShipMate with St. Lucia Snorkeling. They picked us up by the pier and took us to Marigot Bay where we boarded a small boat. The boat was a bit crowded with a mix of scuba divers and those of us snorkeling. The staff was friendly and pointed out sea life on the reef.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and easy. Plus, having the Captain standing on the gangway telling everyone good-bye was a first for us. It was a nice touch.

I loved the ship and appreciate your input on Antigua. I'm going there next year on the ship, and that will be the only stop I've never been to.
