Review summary

Wonderful cruise, excellent staff, but the Solstice really needs a complete refurbish!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We did a B2B on this trip, so we just had to get off in Sydney for 3 hours, so embarkation was a breeze!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Without exception the staff was always friendly. The staff in Blu from the hostess/matre'd/ waiters and bar staff were incredible!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the guest lecturers, as well as presentations given by Pete, the Cruise Director.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Production Shows were excellent too, and some of the guest entertainers they brought onboard.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exceptional service and attitude in Blu!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The layout and design of the Solstice were good, but it really needs a complete refresh!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size was what we expected, but the room was lacking storage, and the furniture (coffee table and night stands) were old, in pretty rough shape, and the night stands in particular were horrible no drawers, only 1/2" sides on all 3 shelves, angles so wider in the back and narrower in the front, so eveything fell off them! Fortunately the bathroom had adequate storage, but the closet had 2 sliding doors that were so narrow you really couldn't see anything hanging in the closet unless it was within a few inches of the outside walls. We sailed on Silhouette a couple of years ago and took friends, and that ship seemed to be in much better shape, so I'm glad they didn't experience this ship for their first Celebrity cruise!

Ship tip

It really needs a total refurb!

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Hop On Hop Off Bus was very easy, and provided a great view of the city!

Suva, Fiji

4 out of 5
We visited a Farmers Market and did a tour around the area, with a couple of photo stops along the way.

Lautoka, Fiji Islands

4 out of 5
It was a good way to see a few sights and take pictures.

Cross International Dateline

5 out of 5
This was fun to do again, but Celebrity did a poor job of annotating the days differently due to the second port having the same cruise day on the app.

Pago Pago, American Samoa

4 out of 5
It was nice to see the area and learn about its history.

Apia, Samoa

3 out of 5
This tour was delayed 30 - 45 minutes. We realize that transportation issues prior to the tour starting can happen, but Celebrity should have done more to keep us updated! We waited in the theatre but the excursion staff only mentioned the delay one time. They should have given us an update more frequently!

Honolulu, Oahu

It couldn't have gone smoother, thanks Celebrity!
