Review summary

This was our 15th cruise and our second trip to Alaska and second time aboard Celebrity. We were impressed by both. We would recommend seeing Alaska if you are looking for a trip that does not involve sun and sand. It is definitely unique.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything was very smooth. We had the 11:00 boarding time and was on the ship before that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall, the food and atmosphere was excellent. The only negative was the Grand Epernay main dining area. We thought the menu had some unusual choices. Our assigned seating was right next to a service stand so it was noisy.

Grand Epernay Restaurant

3 out of 5

Our seating location was next to the wait stand, so it was loud and chaotic. Our server team did not seem in to be working together.

Oceanview Cafe and Bar

5 out of 5

This buffet had good variety throughout the cruise. Food was always fresh and plentiful. Most days there was a lunch theme such as Italian, Spanish, or British.

Mast Grill and Bar

5 out of 5

Food selections were limited to burgers, hot dogs, and fries but the it was hot and fresh. It was good poolside food.

Le Petit Chef at Silk Harvest

5 out of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the show, and the food was delicious.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We normally go on cruises to relax, not to see how many activities we can do. We did participate in the "Deal of No Deal" game show and the Hot Glass Class where we made a pumpkin and a turtle.

Solarium

5 out of 5

This adults-only venue was very quiet and spacious. It also had a glass roof and was climate controlled. The only negative is that the lounge chairs were very low and tough to get up from when leaving.

Entertainment

This was a personal choice. Sometimes the seats in the theater are not suited for larger cruisers.

Hot Glass Class

5 out of 5

Such a unique experience on a cruise ship. We were able to assist the staff making glass items. We recommend purchasing this experience ahead of the cruise because it fills up fast. If not, definitely sign up when you board.

Children's Programs

We didn't bring young people on this cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward did a great job seeing to our needs. Staff around the ship were always friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship design was typical. The ship always looked clean and staff were observed cleaning on multiple occasions.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was ADA accessible. It was a nice size and allowed for mobility-challenged people to move around safely. There was no steps and room for a wheelchair. Storage space was adequate.

Ship tip

Study the deck maps so you don't waste time trying to find the location you are looking for.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington Did not visit port

Embarkation only.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We stopped to do some shopping on the pier. We did not do an excursion this time.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
The Dawes Glacier was awesome to see. We appreciated the information provided by the naturalist was cruising this area.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We participated in an excursion visiting Mendenhall Glacier National Park. The informational video is a must-see and the glacier is spectacular. We also did a whale-watch tour and actually saw many whales. Good information was provided by the naturalist on board.

Skagway, Alaska

3 out of 5
Skagway looks like an old mining town. Unfortunately, it is very commercial with jewelry stores in at 75% of the shops. You also need to ride the shuttles into town from the pier. Otherwise, it is about 0.8 miles one-way to walk to town from the pier.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Scenery is amazing. It feels like sailing down a canal with very high sides.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembark was smooth. We participated in the luggage valet service. We provided our flight information and were given special tags for our luggage. Celebrity took our luggage to the airport. We picked it up at our final destination.
