Good Food! Excellent entertainment! and a great crew! I've been on several cruises to the Caribbean in the past, but this ship and crew were superior to the rest.

celebrity silhouette 1-25-15 by Floridafriend

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was an excellent cruise. I enjoyed the entertainment and food.  We had an inside room and found it very comfortable, even the bathroom was adequate size.  It's the best cruise we've been on other than the very large Allure with RC. Everyone made you feel special.

not completely satisfied by vicade

compared to the last time we cruised on Celebrity Solstice,  service and quality of food has declined quite a bit.  Felt that since tips were already added to our fare, staff was not eager to go the extra mile. This time Celebrity did not exceed our expectations

Anniversary Cruise by dkarampa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked the flight and the cruise together.  The flight down was canceled and we barely made the boat.  Once this bit of drama was over, the cruise was relaxing and we were pampered.  When we got to the cabin, a chilled bottle of champagne was waiting for us.  The evening of our anniversary, the waiter presented us with a cake.  (we did not mention our anniversary other than at time of booking).  We had two days at sea which I found quite relaxing.  We took excursions at three out of the four ports that we visited.  I enjoyed the excursions, but I found that they were a little slow initially getting things underway.  We waited in the hot sun on one for nearly 30 minutes for transportation. The nightly entertainment was excellent on most evenings.  (Only one evening I would rate as just fair) The food was good, but not exceptional.  The presentation and service were excellent. I found the entire crew to be very helpful and accommodating.  Overall, it was enjoyable and I would definitely book Celebrity again.

The overall trip was great but booking excursion through this web site is NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Not easy to access, hidden charges, transportation even ran out of gas.

OK Cruise by dwebbsite

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed cruise.  Food was reasonably good.  Entertainment was not great, but adequate.  Cost-cutting was apparent:  Chocolates on pillow just one night now.  No whole Lobster in MDR, but half of a tail!  Used to get carafe of wine.  No more!  Celebrity cruise 2 years ago:  Better food, entertainment, etc.  But, we still had a nice get-a-way.

My wife and I had a wonderful time on Celebrity Silhouette!! The veranda stateroom, the FANTASTIC dining, the great entertainment, the ship itself would be hard to improve upon! This is a cruise especially for adults. It could not fit us better. The crew and staff were the best. We WILL BE on Celebrity again!

Small cabin, good food and good service. by philfox7426

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We found our Aqua class cabin to be small with not enough closet or draw space. Since we were on a 7 day warm weather cruise it was ok but would not have felt that way on a longer cruise where warmer clothing was required.  We had dinner every night in Blue and the food and service were first class.  Our cabin attendants were also excellent.  Were always able to find comfortable seating in the solarium or at the pool.  We have been to the Caribean many times so the ports were not important nor were they interesting.  We tendered at Grand Cayman and it took us 2 1/2 hours to get off the ship.

First time cruising with Celebrity by olle175

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Silhouette is beautiful. Our cabin with balcony nice. It could use a little more storage. Room attendants spot on. Dining attendants excellent. Grand dining room food a little above average. We ate lunch and breakfast in their café version buffet. Food was ok. We didn't do any specialty restaurants, too expensive. At $30 and up per person we stuck with dining room. Entertainment  in auditorium at night was average. At start of cruise captain announced we couldn't reach top speed. Little did we know how much that would affect. We were late for every port by at least an hour. We did three excursions. Mayan ruins and beach break on Cozumel. Mayan ruins are interesting but boring after an hour. Guide was knowledgeable. Tour of Cozumel revealed mostly jungle. Beach break was too short and no real changing rooms. There was a small restaurant and bar there. Help was eager to serve. Best of Jamaica excursion, ship recommended was a complete rip off at $110 per person. The excursion lasted 7 hours,3 and a half hours riding in the van back and forth from Dunn's Falls. The falls are nice to see but dangerous to walk in.Hour and a half later after you exit thru flea market and get almost mauled you get taken to town, for more shopping at over priced tee shirt shops. Thirty minutes later to a run down resort for inedible lunch and over priced drinks. After twenty minutes on the beach there and not going in the brown ocean from too much rain we were picked up in a modified catamaran. Twenty minute ride to drop off point, and then one hour ride back to pier. Last excursion in Ft. Lauderdale to Sawgrass Mill  mall was misleading as well. We were supposed to be dropped off in front of Saks to shop for 3 and a half hours. Instead because it was a Sunday and the mall didn't open until 11 we were dropped off at Target. At 1:30 we were picked up and taken to airport. This was our seventh cruise and we expected more from Celebrity. We have never been to Grand Cayman and still haven't been due to the very poor tendering schedule. We were scheduled to arrive at 930am.They had passengers line up for numbers to get tendered. The process didn't start until almost 12. Our number was called at 1:35. We decided not to bother for lack of time and disappointment. So to sum up,ship crew and staff excellent.Everything else needs work.

Silhouette by tomorrow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Embarkation at Ft. Lauderdale was hectic but efficient - ship was beautiful = Christmas decorations very nice - as soon as I got on board requested valet service for luggage upon disembarkation - dining room we had table for two =- never again -= you are pushed up to another table for two so this becomes table for two or four or six - went two nights at the dining room - long waits because they are handling large tables first - gave up and did the buffet rest of the trip. Entertainment at the theater was great for two nights = rest of the time a bore with the same singers and dancers doing the same routines - did the two specialty shows and bypassed the so called "Broadway Extravagances"" have seen these routines over and over again. Port at Haiti was very small but very beautiful  - Grand Cayman required a tender - that was ok - Jamaica and Cozumel ok - then we came to the disembarkation - waited for my tags for valet service - never came - went down to Guest Services and was told thatySouthwest had denied the service - who knows for what reason - suggested maybe because of senior fare - or whatever - so had to get luggage tags and face the Ft. Lauderdale airport for flight home - airport was a nightmare - lines were outside the building and down the sidewalk - juggling two large suitcases - husband in wheelchair - jackets - tickets - and whatever else - just could not handle this - we are two seniors in our late eighties so this is a problem - finally got desperate and went inside with my luggage and just went up to a man in a red shirt and told him he had to please help me with the boarding passes and getting myself and husband to the gate - he was wonderful - took care of us with the paperwork and got someone to get a wheelchair to take us up to security and thru to the gate. This airport for the amount of cruise ships that come in is way too small -= and I learned that three more cruise ships are due for next year - it is a nightmare now with two more it will become something else. I recommend that if anyone is taking the Silhouette and need help at Guest Services to ask for Abigail - she is a credit to this company and knows her job and will do anything to resolve your problem---- we were fortunate that we met many wonderful people on this cruise - have taken about seven others and as far as the people on the cruise this one was the best. We had balcony 8248 - no complaints as far as the room goes - buffet was good - great variety - dining room not for me and spoke to others who said they did it once or twice and ended up at the buffet in the evening. Haiti as I said was very small - but just a beautiful little port - not much there - few buildings - very small beach - but from what I heard from others beautiful snorkeling.

Great week away. by brianmock83

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was nicely appointed and in very good condition.

Our cabin was of adequate size, and the room steward did a very nice job throughout the week.  We were located in the back of the ship in Concierge Class - - very quiet and peaceful.

The dining was good and better than the competitive cruise lines.

Overall a very nice break from the daily grind.

Celebrity is not all the upgraded cruise line I thought it was by jowilk616

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This has been my 9th cruise, and out of nine I rate this experience 8th.  Celebrity is supposed to be the upgrade of Royal Carribbean, I found the exact opposite.  Food in dining room was the worst I've ever experienced on a cruise ship....I was served a steak I wouldn't give my dog, soup with no taste at all.  Murano upgrade restaurant was not all like on a previous ship, Tuscan Grill was excellent....Impossible to get a hot coffee beverage at any restaurant or dining room.....Longest wait I ever had getting back on the ship in puerto rico......Ship had a bad engine causing swaying back and forth all 7 days....Why did you not have this fixed?????  Older people on this ship and if we wanted a towel on the upper pool level we had to walk downstairs and back up for a towel....Cruise director was joke, I'm sure you can afford someone experienced....Boring during the day with not much on the schedule.......Went to 3 shows, 2 put me sleep and I left, thats how bad they were....I expected 1st class all the way and received the ecact opposite.....Celebrity is not even close the positive experience I had with royal carribbean, Norweign and princess lines, shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful ship, exceptional service by luckypae

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The only glitches with the cruise were a mechanical problem, which was known before we sailed, that delayed the arrival and departure times at our ports of call.  Also, it is fairly expensive on this cruise line with their pricing policy of charging an automatic 15% gratuity with each individual purchase made on board as well as the daily gratuity charge.

Great Ship! by nohopo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Silhouette is a beautiful ship w/great amenities -- as all cruise ships, they are cutting back, smaller portions, smaller cocktails @ higher prices -- activities are plentiful, shows are good especially the production ones & staff is excellent -- we always enjoy Celebrity ships & only cruise on Celebrity & Royal Caribbean -- enjoy their Captain Club benefits we have been cruising for many years & consider Celebrity the overall best

What Concierge Class Means on Celebrity by rdedmond

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My wife and I cruise about twice a year and have been doing this for over 15 years.  This was our first cruise on Celebrity and it appears we saved one of the best cruise lines for last.  We ordered a room with a balcony and it was upgraded from Veranda to Concierge which means everyday you get something extra delivered to your stateroom.  This included a bottle of champagne when we arrived, fruit every day, special invitations during the week and a special waiting area when departing the ship.  The shows on the Silhouette were exceptional.  One night the singing and dancing was Las Vegas level, the acrobats and juggling night was as good as any Cirque shows we get coming through Maryland.  One night we had a pianist/singer that won Holland's Got Talent.  The food was very good in the "normal" dining rooms, but we went to a Specialty Steakhouse  one night for $90 (more on that later) which was every bit as good as a Prime Rib or Ruth's Chris from both a taste, service and ambiance standpoint.  This ship seemed to have a lot of pay as you go add on opportunities, but they don't oversell that.  For example, they didn't "push" drinks, but if you wanted one they were always there.  The only things we didn't like as much was the first day life raft drill which seemed a bit disorganized and the last morning it took us almost an hour from when we were told to depart until we physically were in a cab on our way to the airport.  So an unsatisfying 75 minutes out of a week long vacation is why I give them 5 stars!  We arrived in need of a vacation and left feeling like our money was well spent.

The accommodations of the ship and the crew were fabulous. The food, both in the buffet and specialty restaurants were excellent. The cabin staff was very attentive to keeping our cabin in top shape. We visited the Molecular Bar several times and had a great time with the bar staff. They were very joyful and happy and made everyone at the bar feel happy to be there.

Very Good Experince by lgomezrui

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Celebrity Silhouette is a beautiful ship, clean and well maintained, the facilities are excellent. We booked a cabin with a balcony, beautiful view, sunsets and sundown.  We visited Cozumel, did shopping on our own, bring an extra suitcase for your shopping, Cayman Island we book the Dolphin Encounter and Sting Ray tour, very interesting, must see. We visited Jamaica we book the Bamboo Club tour, the beach was beautiful, but next time we will book a tour of the city. Last we visited the Island of Labadee, Haiti, the facilities are good, beach is okay, nothing compare to the beautiful beaches of  Puerto Rico, Bahamas or Mexico. This was our fifth cruise, four with Celebrity; Century. Summit, Solstice, and  Silhouette and one with Norwegian Gem. My only negative review is the shows at the Silhouette, not up to standards of previous Celebrity cruises. The music, the dancing, very low quality, more like a high school play. We will still do another cruise next year God willing.

Only adequate cruise by mmaram07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cabin was very nice. Room attendants were adequate but not very attentive, hardly seen. Ports were not very interesting. Food quality seems to have deteriorated. Entertainment was average. Would not go on this route again and would try another cruise line with a better itinerary.

45TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION by fun4us

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Beautiful ports and overall had a great time.  Was dissapointed, though, because we were to believe that Celebrity was a cut above an average cruise but found it no better than Royal or Princess.  In completing online docs we mentioned we were celebrating our 45th anniversary.  We dined every night in the dining room with great food  and I reminded them it was our anniversary. Then had to remind them again on the last night.  They brought us a small cake with no "Happy Anniverary", then took it away and cut pieces for each and served them.  With other cruiselines they left the whole cake to share with others and had "Happy Anniversary."

Not enough port time in Malta and the port in Venice left it hard to get into town and especially when we disembarked with our luggage.  However, the views coming into Venice were beautiful!  The veranda balcony room was really nice, largest bathroom we've had so far and our guy, Victor was wonderful.  The martini bar was a hit.  But they need to fully explain the rules of the Classic Beverage Package.  We were under the impression that if we exceeded our $8 limited drinks we would just pay the difference.  No, ordered a $9 drink and had to pay for the whole thing!  Kuri & Taruq, our waiters in the dining room were wonderful and Kuri gave us tips for our next day in port.  Was unhappy that Celebrity offered excursions on the ship that were not listed online when we booked.  As it was we booked most of ours through other agencies.  Would've love to have taken the boat cruise along the Amalfi coast and was unhappy with the outside one we did book with in Naples.  We did have a wonderful time and made some great friends and will cruise Celebrity again if they offer the right ittinerary and/or price.

weak excursions. poor dining choices. mediocre service. by cleary1948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

have had wonderful experiences with celebrity in the past. on this cruise the ports of call were a mixed bag - some good, many not very good. the food in the sit down restaurant was pretty awful. ended up eating spagetti and meatballs in the buffet restuarant way to often. the shore excursions were way over priced for what they offered. I hope celebrity has not changed its business plan to cut as many corners as possible but this cruise had that feeling. I would not refer anyone to take this cruise. We had planned, based on previous experieces, to make celebrity our cruise line of choice but we have changed our mind based on this experience.
