Great itinerary, nice ship by apetillo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise itinerary was really nice; 9 port cities in 8 countries.  Ship was excellent (Celebrity Silhouette) - nice accommodations, excellent staff always looking to please, and pretty good (though not fabulous) food.  I would definitely sail on this ship again, and would recommend the "Scandinavia - Russia" itinerary.

Nice taste of the Briish Isles however prepare for the cold and rain by MaryS28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We left out of Amsterdam and 3 great days in Amsterdam before we left on our cruise.

Cabin:  We opt for the partially obstructed balcony cabin to have a balcony at a reduce rate.  However in the British Isles we seldom used it.  1.   It was cold a rainey, 2.  There were only 3 sea days out of 2 weeks.

The cabin was the exact same on all Solstice class ships.  So was the venues.

Cabin steward was great, as the dining staff.

We ate mostly in the dining room when we could but on port days the dining room is closed for lunch.  So if you don't want to pay you must go the Ocean View Café or pay out at port.  The food in both the dining room and Ocean View was by far the worst than any Celebrity Cruise we have been on.  The soup had no substance at all.  I mean the Chicken noodle soup was ALL broth, vegetable soup all broth..  We talked to the staff but saw no improvement.

The excursions were OK. Most of the tour guides took you to the area showed you how to get around and left  especially if it was raining and the first week it rained every day.  You know the song by the Beatles Here comes the sun.  Well us Americans thought it referred to their love however it really means here comes the sun because they celebrate when the sun does shine!

The entertainment was hit and miss.  The magician was a joke most left.

Some we did not attend because to were to tired after a full day touring while at port.

This is the first time we had the classic drink package because it was given to us as a promotion and I am glad we had it.  I just could not handle the ships water and thankful we got bottled water with the package.  I must say the bartenders were not very creative and since it seamed everyone had a drink package they really didn't try very hard.  We went to the sky lounge once for Elite evening and I could not even drink the drink they made.  Last time we went there.  This was a first.  This was the 5 solstice class ship that we had been on.

Overall it was fine.  I will never get tired of not having to cook and clean for an entire 2 weeks.

British Isles 14 day cruise by Waitems

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The ports of call were part of our bucket list.  Saying that, there are several areas that Celebrity cruise line must do a better job of coordinating with the port authorities.  Tendering was, at times, a nightmare.  Long lines and even longer times to dockside were a problem.  The company must look ahead several years to coordinate dock space rather than tendering on this planned cruise.  Staff and quality of food were excellent.  Ship was as clean as a brand new one right our of the shipyard.

Many of the cruise sponsored side trips were sold out.  Port transportation information for the rest of the cruisers was minimal at best.

This trip despite these few glitches overall was a wonderful time visiting some of the best that the British Isles has to offer.

A Wonderful Vacation by georgeplantus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Sailing with Celebrity was a real joy. Our oceanview cabin at the front of the ship was exceptional and really contributed to our comfort and enjoyment. The professional, caring staff made sure our needs were addressed. They were as good as any we've met before. The excellent meals and service in the restaurant were first class. The ship was beautiful.

The challenge was getting people off the ship when we arrived at our destinations. A significant amount of time was lost.

Please accept our appreciation for all your efforts.

VACATOIN WITH LOST LUGGAGE AND NO PHOTOS by triniddm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

SHIP AND ROOMS WERE CLEAN. FOOD WAS GOOD. MOST OF THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY.  LUGGAGE ON DEPARTING THE SHIP WAS VERY POORLY HANDLED. I OBSERVED LUGGAGE ON ITS WAY TO THE SHIP BEING HANDLED VERY BADLY AND CARELESSLY, STAFF NEEDS TO SUPERVISE THIS CLOSELY AND NOT STAND AWAY FROM THE PROCESS.

Great itinerary by jesse326

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Celebrity Silhouette was nice and not too large. Balcony cabin was spacious, as is its bath. The food on board was what you would expect. It was good but not great. There were many eating options.

The average age on board was 50's, 60's, 70's. Very few kids or younger guests.

The itinerary was great, it was very port intensive. Some ports required tenders, others did not.

Great itinerary and great ship and crew! by dalebalu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The ship is a beautiful ship and the crew was awesome!  The crew was so helpful and fun.  The ports of call were excellent and the land tours we took were all very enjoyable.  This is the best cruise we have ever been on.  We have been on the Alaska and New Zealand cruise which were both excellent as well.  This one is a must do to experience this part of the world.

An excellent choice regardless of age and nationality by TC86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This is the 2nd time that we travel on Celebrity having been on a marvelous cruise on the Reflection 2 years ago. Its sister ship, the Shilouette did not disappoint. We are a group of 13 including edleries and young children and the majority of them did not speak much English therefore finding a "user friendly" ship is of prime importance (in addition to the destinations). The ship is well kept, the staff curteous, helpful and very friendly! The quality and choices of food on board remain (in our opinion) the best amongst similar cruise liners. The "added perks" for Suite Class passengers were great value for money and the services impeccable and made the passengers felt valued. The only slight draw back being that it was obviously a very popular route and at a very popular time and the ship seems to be at full capacity, which makes the public area very crowded(and makes it seem a lot smaller than the Reflection) and the only cafe offering premium tea, coffe and cakes was full to its brim on all sea days. The food in the speciality restaurant were of good quality except for the Tuscan Grille where more attention could be paid to the ingredients (especially the fishes which tasted rather stalled).

THE SERVICE AND CREW WERE GREAT BUT STOPS NEED MAJOR WORK by vmlozan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We enjoyed some of the stops but the hours in port were too short and the stops in Estonia, Germany and Helsinki left much to be desired.  They should be avoided and were very disappointing.  The Russian experience was very good but the authorities intimidated too many passengers.  The spa areas were a means of buying products and the casino tables were the worse in terms of payouts we have ever seen.  Captive audience???

MAJOR PROBLEM

BOTH OF US GOT SICK ON THE NIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT AND WONDER IF THIS OCCURRED WITH OTHER PASSENGERS!!!!

This was a great itinerary that fit our family's timing. Life on board the ship for these 12 days was fantastic! And the shore excursions to the various ports of call were fascinating!

The cruise was very enjoyable. The wait staff and bartenders were excellent and worked hard to meet all of your needs. Housekeeping did a great job refreshing the rooms on a daily basis. The food was excellent and the ship was very clean.

Trip of a lifetime!! by Cruiser1679934

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Loved the Northern Ireland tour to the Giants Causeway and also to the Scotland's distillery in the northern part of the country!

We also enjoyed the excursion to the World War II beaches.  It was a long tour but the knowledge and appreciation of this area was worth the whole day.  Had many opportunities to get out and explore on our own and relax.  The American cemetery was so nicely kept to honor the war hero's that died on these beaches and during this time of war.

Our treat was to Kiss the Blarney Stone and we did just that!!

Enjoyed the whole trip!

The Silhouette by cymace

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

My favorite part of the cruise was sitting on the veranda on a sea day enjoying a glass of wine and a plate of grapes.

My least favorites were the long waits to give our passports to personnel and the long wait time to return to the ship on the second tender.  (We didn't even go ashore for the third tender.)  Both wait times were over an hour and a half!

To maximize your experience, do your homework by fgentzel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Due to the nature of this cruise, i.e. seeing 7 countries in 13 days, you must do planning ahead of time so as to maximize your time ashore. Also, I noticed the ship's excursions were not that encompassing, and were expensive. In this part of the world, consider Paddywagon, Scottish Terrier Tours, and BusyBus as excellent alternatives and for more scope than the boat can offer. Ship is very comfortable, but I did miss the center atrium - the heart of a boat. Crew was exceptionally nice, and the food was the best I had in 14 cruises. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather, as these regions can be wet and overcast. But you will see lots, in a short amount of time.

The Best Way to know the Baltic Capital Cities by EugenioGarcia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This One way Cruise provides more days to spend in each city.

Most of the ports are right in the City

It should be better explanation about the Port Location in each city in order to plan ahead the excursions and activities.  For example Stckholm has different ports aoroud the city.  We arrived by plane and we didn't know which port we were departing or even the address of the port in order to tell our taxi driver.

Our family trip by asadloski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

My favorite port of call was St Petersburg.  I have enjoyed traveling on Celebrity again.  The food and friendliness of the staff was terrific.  My only regret was that we had trouble getting into Stockholm.  The weather was the culprit.  Since this was our only day in Sweden it was disappointing to have only two-three hours to walk around.  Other that that my family and I had a great trip!

President's Cruise on the Baltic June 7-19 2016 by jnt73927

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Because the CEO was on board, special cocktail parties for Captain's Club members, and free ballet, just for Celebrity CC passengers, at the Maryinski Theater in St Petersburg.   Food overall was great, especially Blu and Tuscan Grille.  Our cabin and all common areas were spotless.  Employees cannot do enough for you,  and when my luggage took 5-1/2 days to reach us,  it was due to the Celebrity staff working behind the scenes to get it on an express train from Berlin.  Gave me free, same-day laundry service until I got my bag,

a toiletry kit and  t-shirts.

We had sunny weather until we got to Helsinki, then a bit of rain.   Disappointed that due to weather,  could not dock in Stockholm until night, so missed excursions.  Celebrity did order buses  to take us into town that night if we wanted, starting at 8:30pm,  and had lots of entertainment on our unexpected extra day at sea.  Sihlouette  was very smooth ride, hardly felt like the ship was moving.

All Celebrity tours were excellent, it was great to have 3 full days in St Petersburg.  After visiting Peterhoff,  Catherine's Palace, Hermitage,  give your feet a break and take a canal tour - beautiful.  Some passengers took the day-long tours to Berlin (at Rostock dock) and Moscow (St Pete) but we were not interested in a 15-hour marathon of train and bus.   Rostock and Talinn were surprises,  both well worth seeing.  Had wonderful lunch at Carlsburg Brewery in Copenhagen,  would recommend the tour that includes Dragor village.

Some countries took Euros or dollars,  all take credit cards,  some only their own currency when in town.

Biggest disappoint was entertainment.  Had a couple of small bands or duos that made wonderful music,  but the  big stage productions looked canned,  the dance routines uninspired,  costumes simply butt-ugly.  Rap? Really? On a cruise with 90% older than 60 years?    The best night was the Russian dancers and singers who came on board.    Best ship entertainment is the martini bar.

Big change - no more formal night, now "casual chic" but most got dressed up anyhow.    They are putting the squeeze on regular drink package,  no longer can get martinis at the Martini bar without the premium package.  But will serve you other vodka or gin drinks!

Excellent itinerary for a wonderful baltic cruise by BernardGiroux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Having three days in St-Pertersburg was fantastic. We wish the guest relation desk would have better information about independant transportation in the cities visited. Often we could not even know where the ship was going to dock. We would highly recommend this cruise.

Great destinations - some ship services less than expected by GAP66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The destinations and excursions on this cruise were wonderful.  We were, however, disappointed in the mediocre quality of entertainment on the ship.  The canned music was terrible and most of the live music was not as good as we remembered from a previous cruise.  There was one excellent vocalist, Jane Curry, who performed only once although she was on the ship for 5 days.

Specialty restaurant that was outstanding was Murano.
