British Isles 14 day cruise

Sail Date: August 06, 2016

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ports of call were part of our bucket list.  Saying that, there are several areas that Celebrity cruise line must do a better job of coordinating with the port authorities.  Tendering was, at times, a nightmare.  Long lines and even longer times to dockside were a problem.  The company must look ahead several years to coordinate dock space rather than tendering on this planned cruise.  Staff and quality of food were excellent.  Ship was as clean as a brand new one right our of the shipyard.

Many of the cruise sponsored side trips were sold out.  Port transportation information for the rest of the cruisers was minimal at best.

This trip despite these few glitches overall was a wonderful time visiting some of the best that the British Isles has to offer.

Cabin / Stateroom
Except for being right on top of the entertainment theater, where the noise went late into the night, the room was nice. The re-arrangement of storage space was somewhat of a disappointment.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Embarkation staff were very helpful and courteous which made for a very smooth entry to the ship. Debarkation was a real problem if, like us, you had purchased the Celebrity transportation of your luggage and bus trip to the airport. Dock handlers loaded up the luggage in the wrong order which meant that you arrived before your luggage while other later groups luggage had arrived ahead of yours. The area where they dropped folks off was tiny and very congested with huge lines of bags sitting there. Unfortunately, none of these bags belonged to the first arrival group. Trying to retrieve the correct baggage was bedlam with people trying to get through this mass of upset folks all trying to find their bags. This must be addressed by the management, especially if they are charging $34.00 for each person. Amsterdam is a very busy airport so we arrived at the airport nearly four hours early and it took over an hour to reclaim our bags from the ship. Next time we will carry our own.

Apply to join the Captain's Club. It was a great experience especially after reaching the Elite level.
