Great scenery, poor service by MariaG2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My main criticism of this trip was the crew and customer service. Many on the crew did not speak English. Most of the crew had a poor attitude and smiles were at a minimum. I had a bag delivered to the wrong cabin and when I personally found it (they couldn't) it was minus my lock and a bag of expensive souvenirs from prior to sailing. The customer service personnel were rude and did not care. They said I had to go through my homeowners insurance. My stateroom safe was too small to hold all expensive belongings (laptop, ipad, etc) and so my son's CD player was taken from my stateroom. Again nobody seemed to care.I will never sail Celebrity again!

Disappointing by Lkm37571512

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We love Celebrity and have enjoyed 5 sailings with this line to date. This is our 2nd time on the Millenium. The ship is tired and needs refurbishing. The staff was either short in number requiring overtime shifts or just in need of a leave. Whatever, it was overall disappointing from what we know and expect on a Celebrity cruise. We had a balcony which made the cabin enjoyable. The biggest disappointment was the number of smokers on this cruise. WHEN is someone going to plan a NON-SMOKING ship or at least some itineraries for non-smokers? After all they have theme itineraires and special group cruises. I am positive that one day some CEO will get wise to the massive second-hand smoke issues ( even on the decks ) that healthier people are willing to pay for. Competition anyone?

I was very impressed. Seems everyday I discovered another part of the ship, I hadn't seen before. Everything was in very good taste and something for everyone, from young to old.

Christmas 2010 by MikeH12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I selected this cruise based upon date, itinerary and price. This is my 5th cruise in the past 3 years, my first on Celebrity. My previous 4 cruise were all on Carnival including 3, 4, and 7 day cruises out of San Diego and a 7 day out of Miami this past August. For good or bad I will be making a lot of references to Carnival when making comparisons. Though they are different in their approach to cruising it still is helpful I think to see how each line handles the customer. I am a solo cruiser and this was the first time I sprang for a balcony cabin. On my previous 4 cruises I had cruised twice inside and twice outside. I booked under a Veranda guarantee. Celebrity must have been having a special as instead of the usual 100% single supplement I was only charged 40%. I was assigned to an A1 cabin but 6 days before we were set to sail I was upgrade to the Concierge Class C2 cabin (more on this later). My first impression from the air as we were coming for our landing was the ship needed a cleaning. Even at 5,000 feet it looked drab. Compared to other ships we docked with in our travels the paint is dull, lots of rust. EMBARKATION: I arrived in San Juan the morning of the cruise and had booked the airport transfer through Celebrity. The wait was about 20 minutes while all of the other passengers on my flight got their luggage. We dropped off our baggage at a waiting truck and we boarded the bus straight away and were dockside within 20 minutes. We proceeded immediately into the terminal and within 20 minutes I was on board. I HIGHLY recommend you use Celebritys service as the line to check bags at the terminal was at least 300 people deep. I have no doubt that using the shuttle saved me at least an hour of waiting in line. SHIP: While some areas of the ship have had upgraded upholstery and carpeting the Millennium is a tired ship in much need of maintenance and upgrades. A tour around deck 4 exterior is very telling. Windows that look like they havent been washed in weeks, missing panels and locks, motor housing completely rusted away and miscellaneous junk piled up forward on the ship in clear view of the passengers. This is something really different than on my Carnival cruises. Everything was always put away and the doors to the crew only areas were always closed. Not so on this ship. We were given the opportunity twice to go on the heliport and saw rolls of carpeting, chairs and tables piled up. There was a whirlpool for the crew that we were told hadnt worked in months. I liked the layout of the ship a lot compared to the Carnival ship I had been on. It was cramped in places, especially the casino areas but lots of nice spaces to hang out in especially on deck 5. Without a doubt the star of the ship is the adults only warm salt water pool, under glass and air conditioned. I spent at least an hour there every day of the cruise, sometimes two In fact all of the pool and whirlpool areas were superior to any on Carnival. The chairs in the adult only area were particularly nice and many of the chairs on the main pool deck were padded. The other chairs scattered about were in various states of disrepair. CABIN: My cabin was on deck 8, forward starboard. About the same size as the ones on my Carnival cruises. As with the ship common area, parts of the room, in particular the bathroom and balcony were VERY tired. This is my biggest gripe. Rust stains and mold in the bathroom everywhere, balcony railing you almost didnt want to touch for fear of splinters, paint splatters everywhere on the balcony, furniture, and glass. There was a nice flat screen TV. My other big gripe was the quality of the linens. I never did have a matching set of towels the entire trip. The bath mat was worn and faded, with holes in it and wasnt changed daily. Most of the sheets and pillow cases had stains as well as the bed skirt. Even the robes provide were stained. And there

This was the best cruise... by Luvsailing

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska

This was the best cruise we have ever taken. The ship was beautiful. The staff and crew were amazing. Alaska is a magnificent state and it is awesome to see mountains every where. There was a naturalist on board who explained everything to us. We saw Hubbard Glacier on a beautiful warm and sunny day. The ports were small and old fashioned and we got a feel of how things were in the gold rush days. The food on the Millenium was great. The shows were among the best we have ever seen on land or at sea. All in all, this was one wonderful cruise and we plan on going again next year. It was a repositioning cruise from San Diego to Vancouver.

had to ask 5 days in a row for veg menu the waiter did not speak good english. or the asst. waiter as well. i asked for limes and was brought lemons. i asked for a baked potatoe an it was cold. i asked for an item on day 5 off of the veg. menu and was brought another item to the table, i refused the meal. the matride was sent over and he brought me the same meal without asking. this upset me . i advised him of the poor service and this was my 15th crusie so i know what good service is.this coniuned for most of the cruise. very bad dinning service.

Panama Canal (East to West) by LynneH2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Have been on Millenium twice. Ship is ten years old, but very nice. Was on Solstice last October and it's a "wow". Millenium is smaller than Solstice, but I found it easier to navigate. Have never had any complaints on any Celebrity cruises.

a relaxing cruise by AnnC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had sailed on the Millenium a few years ago; it has been refurbished since then, so felt like being on a new ship. The dining options were a nice alternative, but we were happy dining in the main dining room. I guess on a 10 day cruise they repeat some of the entrees, but there still were a lot of choices. The biggest problem was "at sea" days when everyone wants to sit on deck. There weren't enough lounges to accommodate everyone, but I'm sure this is an issue on most cruise lines. The entertainment was good and it was very nice to see the captain and some of his crew participate in onboard activities.

so-so ship by MrsB91320512

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Cruise didn't start out on a positive note. We pre-paid transfers with Celebrity and received no bus vouchers. No pre-cruise booklet or luggage tags sent by Celebrity, either. Requested a table for 2 - got a table for six and was basically told - sorry! At mandatory evacuation drill, Millinieum employee named Maxine at the theatre was very rude and confrontational. I went to bed that night thinking we had made a mistake, but decided to give them a second chance. I absolutely loved the quality time I spent with my husband on the cruise since it was our 25th anniversary. We had a lot of fun in the ports and I loved the itinerary, but the ship was, well.....boring. Pool closed and covered by 8:00 pm. Not enough activities on board at night. Shows were ho-hum. No buffet at night - just stir-fry and italian - forces everyone into the sit down meal. Riviera Grill closed at 5:30 p.m. Ship and decor are starting to show age.
