Review summary

Cruising Alaska was a priority for us and the trip didn't disappoint. Celebrity Millenium is a great ship with a top notch crew. I would recommend this trip.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation from Seattle Pier 66 was very smooth. We took our granddaughter, who was unvaccinated and needed A COVID test. Celebrity administered the test quickly. After going through security, we went directly to the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall, the food provided on board was excellent. There was always a wide selection of food choices at all venues we visited. Wait staff was very knowledgeable, curtious, and helpful. We purchased the classic beverage package. There were times that it was difficult to know where soda was available.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We tend to not do many of the onboard activities because we are interested in relaxation, not partying. We attended two of the game shows on board and participated in the paper airplane challenge. Two people in our party received massages at the Spa. I am rating this as 4 stars because the teen club which my 14 year old granddaughter was hoping for was nonexistent. On two occasions, an event was scheduled in the teen club but no staff member showed up. They didn't do a good job promoting the kids clubs either.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The house band, Magnifica, was excellent. They played at various venues on the ship with a wide variety of selections. We did not attend any shows in the theater.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
Refer to my comments about the kids club (or lack of one) in the onbiard activities section.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we encountered was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. The naturalist on board, Brent Nixon, was unbelievable. He provided commentary on wildlife and the development and evolution of the Glacier we attempted to visit. We also attended an amazing presentation on the Bald Eagle given by Mr. Nixon. It was fascinating.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is easy to navigate. There were times when I was not sure which way to go onbiard. More posted maps would help. Use of the deck map on the Celebrity app helps. The ship was clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is an Oceanview cabin. It is spacious with a modern feel. There is ample space to store clothing. The cabin was always kept clean by our room steward. A safe for valuables is included.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
The port of Juneau was quite clean and accessible. Our excursion here was the Dog Sled training camp. Several dog owners have creating a camp where specific breeds of dogs are trained to be sled dogs. The methods used are very humane for the animals. We were part of a group of approximately 8 people that boarded a wheeled metal cart. 12 dogs pulled this cart on a hilly gravel road for nearly a mile. The dogs showed great strength and team work. The owners of this camp are knowledgeable and are experienced mushers having participated in the Iditarod Dog Sled race. Also, the puppies are very cute.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did the Potlatch Totem Park outside Ketichcan. The tour guide did a great job explaining the stories behind the totem poles and gave information about the indigenous people's thatived in the area. The scenery is amazing.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We rode the Yukon Railroad that traveled 14 miles out of Skagway and back. The trip is normally longer but a bridge is undergoing repair. The narration along the route was very informative. The area around the Port is a recreation of old time Skagway with shopping and food establishments.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
Cruising Endicott Arm was an awesome experience. The scenery was breathtaking and it was a beautiful. Naturalist Brent Nixon provided commentary about the area. The only low point is that we didn't actually see the Glacier because there was too much loose ice flow that prevented the cruise ship from

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
We cruised the Inside Passage mostly at night after the port of call at Skagway. The scenery was wonderful.

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
Embarkation Point only.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were provided with luggage tags for our bags and information about debarkation. Passengers were put into groups and given departure times to aid social distancing when leaving the ship. The entire process was very smooth and well organized.
