Review summary

We were excited about taking our family on a Millenium cruise. We had taken another Celebrity ship on the same trip 10 years ago and had a great experience. We were terribly disappointed in the dining room--portions, quality, and service. Our waiter gave us the wrong menu, took our food orders, and then came back and said we had the incorrect menu. His English was okay, but he babbled about nothing when he was taking the orders, and we could not understand why he was speaking in such a manner. We did not have any alaskan salmon in the dining room as we had in the past, and the lobster tail was so very small and was from the Caribbean. Fortunately, they covered it up with shrimp and scallops to add to the offering. When we put our luggage out the night prior to our departure, it was intact. When we picked it up in the am, the handle was broken on a new piece. The shows were okay but not long in length. Costumes were nice. Food was recycled from buffet to dinner and did not taste fresh. We had a family veranda which was spacious and pricey, but it served us well. The toilet plugged and shower slowed when other people were using their lavatories. Celebrity is the only cruise line according to our agent at which does not provide transportation to the ship or to your return home. Celebrity did this 10 years ago but is charging more and offering less from my point of view. We would definitely not do Celebrity again. What a disappointment!!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

quality of food was poor, and portions were quite small. No salmon served on a cruise to Alaska! Lobster was small and came from the Caribbean.

Entertainment

Shows were short, costumes nice, but quality left something to be desired.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

ship is old. we had to wipe our hands with disinfectant every time we went into any of the dining rooms...our hands were very dry at the end of the cruise. Employees were posted at every door with bottles, or we could get the liquid from a machine. I know it helped to control infections, but at the same time our hands suffered because they were trying to control cleanliness on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a nice family veranda which served our family well--we paid well for that!

waste of time...ship has a contract with the community. Not a lot to do; town is extremely small.
Don't Miss: nothing to miss

Skagway, Alaska

Pros: being with family and cabin

Cons: dining room service/food
