Review summary

It was excellent! We booked this cruise through the CA Wine Festival and we were not disappointed. The wine events hosted by Drea O’Connell of O’Connell Wines we’re wonderful and Celebrity Infinity was a beautiful ship with excellent food, entertainment, and service!

Embarkation

Excellent! Very quick and efficient. We only waited in the lounge for 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent! We ate at the buffet, the main dining room, and Tuscan Grill. All had excellent quality food and service. The buffet was great for breakfast with a lot of “cook to order” stations and the mdr had a varied menu each evening and escargots every night! Who can complain about that!

Onboard Activities

Trivia!!!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship had wonderful entertainment! We enjoyed three of the stage productions - quality singing and dancing, and a very funny comedy show.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
It was all very good and acceptable. The only reason I scored 4/5 is because our room steward needed to be reminded each day that we wanted our complimentary tapas in our cabin each day. He provided excuses that were not true, like “you weren’t in your cabin”, when we actually were in our cabin. But overall, the service was excellent everywhere else on the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We had read comments that the ship looked “tired” since it is an older ship, but we did not see ANY evidence of this! The ship was in pristine condition!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was very comfortable and well appointed. We were three adult women and there was plenty of storage. It was a little “tight” when the sofa bed was set up. One of us had to do a sideways “shuffle” to get out of bed, but it is the size cabin we selected for three adults so I can’t fault Celebrity for that. But it was good that excess furniture could be stored on the balcony overnight.

Ship tip

Spend time at the martini bar! The “flare” bartenders are awesome!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Santa Barbara, California

We enjoyed a wonderful “back country” wine tasting with Cloud Climbers Jeep Tours! Excellent! Lots of wine, great husband and wife team driving two jeeps, and just a fun adventure all around!

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
We enjoyed San Fran, there is a lot to do! The Hop on Hop off bus tour was so-so. It was a little boring and long as we had decided to do the full loop first and then get off at a few stops. And the bus was hot. But we got off at Pier 39 and had excellent hot griddle crab!

Monterey, California

4 out of 5
Had a little trouble finding public transportation from the Old Fisherman’s Wharf to Cannery Row. The shuttle only runs in the summer so it stopped running on Labor Day. But once we located a cab, he was great, affordable, and came back to pick us up later. We went to a Taste if Monterey at Cannery Row. It was wonderful with wine flights and great small plates. Loved their baked Brie! Very nice!

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
Even though we decided not to get off the ship in Catalina, we had an awesome experience with A Taste of Catalina. We had pre- purchased tickets for their Happy Hour Walking Tour, but when we could not make it to the tour due to illness, they understood and provided a full refund even though they usually cannot do “same day cancellation” refunds. That is incredible customer service and we can’t wait to return to Catalina to try their tour!

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

Don’t like Mexico. Safety concerns.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was perfect! We walked off our own luggage, didn’t have to wait long after breakfast, and we were off the ship and through customs in less than an hour.
