Review summary

My wife and I have wanted to visit Alaska for several years now but always worried about the challenges of remaining healthy on a cruise ship. Finally decided to book through and after explaining the health risks for my wife Sharon Mitchell was terrific in helping us select the perfect cruise. My wife is post transplant with significant autoimmune issues. The Celebrity Infinity ship had Purell stations everywhere and forced passengers to wash their hands in Purell upon embarkation at every port. The ship and state room was spotless and the crew was constantly cleaning and changing cloths they used to clean. We had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to book again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was great, disappointed that the specialty restaurants cost extra.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment was excellent.

Entertainment

We set our expectations low and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. Very professional.

Children's Programs

Didn't apply to us. We saw very few children around the ship so the programs had to have been effective.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was spotless. Our attendant cleaned our room three to four times a day and was very attentive to our needs. I was overly impressed at how clean they kept the bathroom and shower stall. We felt there should have been a few more amenities with this class like free beverages and maybe cookies or chips in the Concierge Lounge. Would stay in this class again though - worth the extra.

Ship tip

Be prepared for a lot of sales pitches. Everything is an extra cost and everybody is looking for ways to help you spend your money. Spent as much in incidental on board as the initial cost of the cruise. Make sure you book excursions to maximize the trip.

Ports of call

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

OK, not much to see. The zip line looked awesome unfortunately I have a health condition that precluded me from booking it.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Make your way to the helicopter deck early, dress very warm and get in the center for best view and pictures. Was surprised how dirty the glacier is.

Juneau, Alaska

We booked the Salmon bake and wish we would have booked a whale watching excursion instead.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Downtown is OK but definitely all about jewelry sales. Book and excursion and enjoy the port - forget the shopping.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Our balcony really paid off at both Hubbard and inside passage. Beautiful shore line.
