Review summary

I’ve come to realize that nothing is perfect. There are definitely a lot of negative changes on board but I still enjoy it. Also happy to see they now offer non alcohol beer and wine. 👏🏻👍🏻

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Considering the delay caused by the ship needing a complete disinfecting everything was quite organized. Embarkation was delayed by approximately 90 minutes. As usual the Oceanview Cafe was extremely crowded the first day. Also our luggage was never delivered to our cabin and we had to track it down after dinner. The lack of communication regarding the situation made for an unpleasant first day/night. A voice message should’ve been left on our phone in the cabin in addition to a note being left outside the door. Neither was done. 😪😪

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food on the MDR was good however I was sorry to see quite a few quality items not available anymore. I always look forward to rack of lamb onboard. They did offer a tiny lamb chop which was very thin and tough. Would not order it again. The menu has changed from quality high end dinners to a variety of different meals which seemed to be way out of our comfort zone. Also noticed not one baked potato in the MDR the entire cruise. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ we are also very happy to see the addition of the Zero Proof beverage. We gave up alcohol but we’re happy to see the availability of nonalcoholic beer and wine. Only request would be a better choice of the wine.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
They we good but not “over the top”.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Outside entertainers were very good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly and ready to assist in anyway. Our waitstaff in the MDR was very good.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was very clean but it is starting to show its age. Furniture in our cabin was in rough shape and the furniture in the main open areas on decks 3-5 (grand foyer) is thread bare. Time to bring in new furniture in the common areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our cabin attendant was very good especially since their work load has increased without the help of an assistant. However the furniture in the cabin was beat up and the bathroom sink ran very slowly.

Ship tip

Enjoy it and try to overlook the little issues you may face. There has been a lot of negative changes in cruising over the past few years but it’s still a great vacation. We’re already booked on the same ship for next March.

We didn’t book a tour but enjoyed a nice walk through the town.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Disembarkation

Also delayed more than an hour but I do not think it was celebrity’s fault. They didn’t have enough TSA agents in customs. Not a nice way to end your cruise.

Guess I should be glad I sailed on Equinox when it still had a "Wow!" Factor

Appreciate your detailed and informative review. Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise in spite of the cutbacks from the standards you’ve come to expect from Celebrity.

So sorry to hear about the various issues you faced. My very first cruise was on Equinox last September, so I wouldn't really know the difference with any decline in quality and whatnot for Celebrity standards, but I wish you a spectacular next cruise!
