So great to cruise again! Looking forward to another soon!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation went very smoothly. We ordered the at home Covid testing kit available through Celebrity and did it the Monday before boarding on Wednesday. Very easy as long as you have a laptop and smartphone. At the terminal we did all of the check in process using our phones, which made it very easy. There are several checkpoints where you need to show your passport, vaccine info, test results and boarding info, but overall it went very quickly and we were on board in about 20 minutes. We arrived an hour prior to our boarding time and didn’t have any issues getting on early.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food on this ship was wonderful! We ate at the dining room for dinner a few nights and breakfast a few mornings and the food was always good. The buffet is very good with a good variety, food available just about anytime of day and having it served by the staff was great! We ate at two of the specialty restaurants and were very pleased. Tuscan Grill was a great Italian spot and Murano is out of this world! The food is fantastic and the presentation just adds to the experience! I don’t eat lobster, but the table side preparation of the Lobster Murano was something to see! Such a great experience that we ate there twice.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
So much to do and so little time to do it! There really is something for everyone. Music, trivia, seminars, arts and crafts, gambling, shopping, art, etc. We played a lot of trivia and I’ll be honest, the general knowledge trivia was really tough! We also enjoyed the pools quite a bit since we had 4 sea days.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The show were wonderful! The singing, dancing, acrobatics, and the costumes of Celebrity shows were amazing! They had a few other artists - a pianist, impression/singer, comedian, which were very good as well. The entertainment on a cruise ship is usually top notch and this ship did not disappoint!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service on this ship was terrific! The staff and crew work so hard and they seem so happy to be doing it! Our room steward took very good care of us and the service at all of the restaurants was outstanding. Due to Covid the ship was not full with guests and the staffing of the crew is not at 100% either, but you couldn’t tell. Everyone was very attentive!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is very nice and was always being cleaned and taken care of.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This cabin is located on deck 8 and near the aft elevators, so just a quick ride up or down and you are where all the activities are happening. Our steward Triyono was very good!
Ship tip
Try the Murano specialty restaurant. It’s French cuisine, which I was not sure about at first, but it was great! A true culinary experience! Also, the muster process is so simple now! Just report to your muster station and get a quick safety briefing and you’re done! No more lining up in a big herd! I think this was one of the best changes due to Covid protocols!
I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about Nassau and truly feel that they are getting a bad rap. These islands rely on tourism for their survival, so naturally they will try to get your business when you visit their island, but we did not feel hassled by any means. The pier is under construction and there are some locals selling their goods right outside the pier entrance, but we did not have any problems. We walked along Bay St. to the Queen’s Staircase and that part of Bay St. is pretty shut down. Then we walked the other way along Bay St. to Junkanoo Beach and there were a number of shops open that way. Junkanoo beach was open as well and we stopped at the Tiki Hut Beach Bar and had some conch and local beers and talked to the locals. We had an enjoyable day and I would say, just give them a chance. They are trying to recover from the pandemic just like the rest of us.
We were in port on a Sunday and all of the shopping mall areas are closed on Sundays, so we ended up at Palm Beach for the afternoon and then took a sunset catamaran ride, which was really nice.
Curaçao is one of my favorite ports! It’s so pretty and has shopping, restaurants and things to see within walking distance of the ship. We took a local tour and saw some resorts that we would like to check into for an extended visit. The Corendon by Hilton looks really nice! We also took a cab to Jan Thiel beach which is beautiful and has all the amenities - restaurant, chairs, shade, bathrooms.
This was our second time in Bonaire and it is a colorful island with so much natural beauty. The first trip there we did a tour of the south side of the island which takes you to the salt flats. This time we did a tour of the north side of the island which has great views of the whole island. We also spent time at Sorobon Beach which a great place to just chill and take a dip and watch the wind surfers.
This was the fastest disembarkation ever! Get your luggage, have a porter load it on a cart for you. For just a few bucks they’ll haul it out of the terminal for you. There was no wait to go through customs, just stepped up to a camera and based on facial recognition that was it! Done! No long lines or forms to fill out. So easy!
Glad you had an incredible vacation. I agree with your realistic assessment about Nassau. Some folks are making snap judgments based on the construction going on or relying on the opinions of folks who don't get off the ship, which perpetuates the negativity.
