Review summary

We have cruised on the Celebrity before, but found this particular cruise a bit disappointing. It gets hot in the Caribbean in July! While we enjoyed spending time at the pool and on deck, we would have liked more onboard activities at times when the ship was not in port. Also the food has declined on Celebrity in recent years. Some of the staff members who helped us were terrific, but others were clueless (like the guy at the customer relations desk who was reluctant to let us to fill out a comment card with feedback solicited about the ship because it was the wrong day!). These type of incidents occurred frequently enough to make us question whether we would want to take this cruise again. On the other hand, the Eclipse is a beautiful ship with lovely staterooms and a nice itinerary.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The high point is the specialty restaurants. Sushi on Five was delicious, and the service was great. The specialty coffees and desserts at Baccio were terrific. Unfortunately, the meals in the main dining room were disappointing. The quality of the food has declined on Celebrity in recent years. The buffet had a fairly wide variety of foods, but changed little from day to day. Again, the quality of the food there was not always the best.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The ship did not have many activities outside of shopping or onboard purchasing (art auctions, bingo, casino, and the like). For a relatively large ship, this cruise could have had more activities.

We were here for only a limited amount of time. Did not see much other than the usual trip to Stingray City/snorkeling.

Cozumel, Mexico

Beautiful day! First-class snorkeling, combined with traditional Mexican shops in the zocalo.

Completely agree! Both on food quality and onboard activities.
