Review summary

This was our First cruise with Celebrity.  We have cruised before on many other lines, including Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Holland America...etc  We enjoyed the  cruise, particularly the itinerary, the three days in New Orleans.  We went to Garden District, WW   II museum .. Excellent.  Felix's for oysters, Pat Obriens, Cafe do Monde and other French Quarter haunts.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our dining servers, Rao and Roderick were excellent, the best we have had on any of our cruises. The dining room food was excellent.. We particularly enjoyed the lobster, Prime rib, onion soup.... escargot... breads and desserts... All excellent. The cafeteria the food was more mediocre. Someone should tell the grill cooks to stop using their spatula to squeeze out the juices of the meat and fish...rendering them dry and tough. The cafeteria soups could use some improvement....... But overall the food and service was very good

Onboard Activities

We attended several presentations on board.. I particularly enjoyed the presentation on the galley and the tour of where the food is prepared..quite impressive.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was very good in theatre, music in atrium, movies and presentations. The quality of entertainers... singers, dancers musicians was excellent . We particularly enjoyed the New Orleans Jazz Band in the atrium Saturday evening.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Once again, accolades to our dining room waiters Rao and Roderick. They were excellent. Our room steward did an excellent job in keeping the cabin meat and clean. The dining wine steward was very informative in the various wines on board. All of the personnel in board were courteous and performed their functions well.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is nicely designed, airy, clean. The theater has the best acoustics and viewing of any ship we have been on. I think the serving kiosks in the cafeteria was the best methodology of any we have seen. We enjoyed the pool area. I think the pool grill should be on same deck as pool. It is extremely inconvenient to use the grill.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was nice and little larger than some lines. It was well decorated and quite

Ship tip

Beware.. Just a bunch of shops, but if you get away from port, some beautiful water for snorkeling or scuba.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Beware, again a bunch of shops.. We found the purchase of vanilla to be 50% higher than Cozumel.

Thank you for the warning about the embarkation snafu while maintaining your objectivity about the other aspects of the cruise and ship. We had a similar bad embarkation experience on a cruise that started in Galveston. We made sure to provide the same information to the cruise line in the after cruise customer sat survey. We did get a future credit but a really bad embarkation that kept us from eating until after the lifeboat drill was hard to overcome on our 7 day cruise and enough to keep us away from that port until the facility is modernized. I am surprised to hear that a mature port like Miami would have the same lack of support. Delays can happen for all sorts of reasons for a cruise ship but there's no excuse for not providing information and support for those affected by the delay.
