Review summary
The thing I most disliked was the rank commercialism all around. I was appalled that unless I spent $5.50 on a bottle of water in my cabin, there was no potable water unless I went to the buffet 4 flights up. EVERYTHING is ridiculously expensive.....$20 for a cocktail plus 20% surcharge. WiFi also very expensive. Extra charge (up to $50!) to eat at a "specialty" restaurant. And even though I ate at the buffet most nights, I was charged $18 tip per night for the other restaurant meals. I was not interested in most of the activities onboard....trivia games and other silly stuff. And the captain and cruise director talked way too much and were often too cute by half. And the ports were (of course) overrun by huge crowds. On the positive side, the musicians onboard were excellent. And of course, Alaska is stunningly beautiful and cruising is a good way to see some amazing sights.Embarkation
