Review summary

We had a wonderful experience for our first Celebrity cruise. The destination was definitely worth the money and we would 100% repeat the experience. I would not, however, book through BJ's again, as they did not deliver on the promised perks. When transferring the booking from Celebrity to BJ's, we were told we would receive the perks offered by and by Celebrity. That was untrue.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The main dining room is where we spent most evening meals. Food was good and service was great. We ate at the specialty steakhouse one night and thought it was ok, but not worth the price. Buffets for breakfast and lunch were very well stocked and had a large variety.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Daily charms were given out at the Effy shop to go in a necklace. Seemed to be a lot of opportunities to do different things onboard, but we chose to relax and read.

Entertainment

Didn't go to any shows

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

Our room steward and waiters were all excellent!

Ship Quality

We've been on probably 15 cruises and this one was much nicer and newer than the others we've been on. Really enjoyed the Solarium and Magic Carpet

Cabin / Stateroom

The room size was average, but the bathroom size and shower size were bigger than average. And the water pressure in the shower was definitely above average. Normally on cruise ships there isn't enough water pressure to get the conditioner out of my hair, but no complaints on this one.

Ship tip

Book a room with a balcony if possible. I regret booking an indoor room.

Toured the city on our own. Fun town.

Rained all day, but apparently this city is rained on basically every day. We toured Creek street. Some quaint stores.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

This was a favorite. We got to see the Dawes glacier in the morning. The ship did several 360 degree turns so that everyone aboard could view the glacier. I do wish we had booked the excursion that took us right up to the glacier, but we still had an excellent view from the boat. I do wish it had been a little later in the morning, as we pulled up to it at approximately 630 AM, which is far to early to be getting up on vacation!

This was our favorite excursion. We took a helicopter to the Mendenhall glacier and went dogsledding. It will forever rank as one of the most fun things I've ever done!

Skagway, Alaska

We took the train ride, visit to Liarsville and the Red onion saloon excursion. The railway was beautiful and I'd do that part again. However, I'd skip the Liarsville and Red Onion Saloon. The food at Liarsville and entertainment weren't great and the brothel was just unnecessary.

Beautiful scenery

Buschart gardens was incredible! I do wish we had been given more than an hour and 50 minutes to walk around though. It took about an hour each way to get there, and the sister bus that left before us broke down, so at least we got the time we did. It's a beautiful garden and several hours could be spent there!

Disembarkation

Disappointing. I had spoken with the cruise folks several times before booking our flights home and no one could tell us what time we would be allowed to leave the boat. Celebrity flights would not gaurantee anything before noon so instead of being able to take a straight flight home with Alaska airlines, we had to book a later flight with connections, which ultimately got delayed. We didn't get home til 330AM which all could have been avoided. Everyone is off the boat by 930 AM. You have to be out of your room by 8 AM. They had to have known that when speaking with me. And if they had just been honest, we could have avoided a lot of hassel.
