Review summary

This felt like an upscale cruise based on my limited experience. The ship was impeccably clean and there was always someone around to help you if needed. I recommend this ship and this itinerary .

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy. We took Seattle Express from hotel to Pier 91. Scheduled embarkation time was between 11 & 11:30z. Organized and quick. Left carryon luggage in cabin, had lunch & explored ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had breakfast and lunch in buffets. Pretty good food, lots of variety. My lunch everyday was stir fry made fresh with ingredients you choose. The few pastries I tried not great except the Pistachio cake & the key lime pie were really good. Great little ice cream place..loved the pina colada sorbet. As far as main dining rooms, really nice ambience. French onion soup and desserts were usually very good. I had vegetarian entrees and one was good the rest not so much. My husband had the steaks and didn’t care for them. However, it seemed everyone else really enjoyed the food so it’s probably just our taste.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We didn’t participate but there was always something going on.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn’t attend any shows but they were always packed so must have been good. Musicians performed in various venues throughout the day and night and some were very good. Fun to sit in the martini bar and listen to good music. Enjoyed dancing at The Club!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from everyone we interacted with. All were friendly and smiling & they work very hard.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is beautiful and kept spotlessly clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved our cabin. Bed was extremely comfortable with two pillow choices. The bed was right by the Infinite verandah so we slept with shade and window open to hear the ocean. The IV was perfect for an Alaska itinerary because it was too cold to be completely outside. The IV made the room seem very open and large. Bathroom was very nice with a large glass shower. No complaints.

Ship tip

Buffet was extremely crowded for lunch and breakfast especially on sea days. Lots of seating wrapped around on all sides but sometimes very hard to find an open table. We experimented with different times and found later to be a bit better. We had the classic drink package and almost all the drinks were more than allowed on the classic beverage package. Martini in martini bar was very small but good. Martinis were $17 so substantial up charge.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Loved Juneau. Took “Small group: Exclusive Alaskan Whale Discovery”. Only 18 of us so we could stand on the front and back decks for better views. We saw first humpback shortly after heading out. Saw multiple Humpback & 4 Orcas. Weather was miserable…cold, windy, gray & rainy but trip was worth the misery.

Victoria, British Columbia

Very pretty city. The wharf area was busy and really cute. Lots of funky little buildings & we were able to walk by the floating homes. They were interesting to see. We walked 4 or 5 miles around the city…. Hubs was craving Dr Pepper & fries so he was happy to see a McDonalds downtown. Ship only serves Coke products.

Skagway, Alaska

Took White Pass Train. Beautiful scenery but long excursion. Lots of sitting on the train waiting for more people to come.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

3 out of 5
We woke at 5:00 a.m. to make sure we didn’t miss it. Very disappointed the ship did not turn all the way around so we didn’t get a good view of the glacier.

Ketchikan, Alaska

No excursions here. Walked all over the town. Favorite area was Creek street. Recommend you take the wooden steps along the creek. It’s beautiful.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Final disembarkation was easy. We only had carryon luggage so that was our only experience. Controlled disembarkation with meeting places throughout the ship instead of everyone trying to leave at once. We never had to wait long when disembarking and embarking at ports.
