Review summary

Overall a very good experience. Only negatives were the two shore excursions were lacking. This Ibizia Island tour bus was hot and the stops very short. Our first stop was at a local restaurant for coffee and pastry about 10 minutes into the tour. We just had breakfast on the ship so why this stop? Other stops were basically blow by. The Tuscany Wine Tasting was poor. It was not a wine tasting at all. We rode on a bus 90 minutes each way to a farm where they poured a carafe of cheap red and white wine to accompany a pasta lunch. The horse drawn carriage ride advertised was a horse drawn trailer with 30 other people on board. It was a short ride and the bus followed behind us.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I like the way Celebrity has in effect done away with the old Main Dining room and created 4 dining experiences. Luminae is very good. Did not try the other specialty restaurants.

The Martini Bar

5 out of 5

The show the bartenders put on is fascinating and service is great.

Tuscan Restaurant

I like the smaller approach to Main Dining

Normandie

5 out of 5

I like the regional flair

Luminare at the Retreat

5 out of 5

The service and quality of food in Luminare is excellent and I like that suited guests have a special restaurant to go to.

Cyprus Restaurant

5 out of 5

I like the way Edge has redesigned the Main Dining Room from one large restaurant to four smaller more intimate restaurants with a regional flair.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

5 out of 5

I like the way Edge has changed the Main Dining Room from one large restaurant to four smaller ones with a slight specialty.

Service and Staff

Albert our butler and Ali our room steward were both very good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Layout and design of the ship is the best yet. We loved the Retreat for Suite guests. The room design and esp the bathrooms were great and much improved over older ships

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The design of the cabins on this ship is very much improved. Large, comfortable. Double sink in bath.

Ship tip

The Retreat for suite guests is a great idea. The front of the ship is reserved for suite guests, has a lounge, and of course Lumina is great. Suggest an upgrade to the suitese

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

Valencia, Spain Did not visit port

Enjoyed the ship.

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

4 out of 5
Ibiza is ok. It is Caribbean in feel but caters to kind of a jet set. We had a short time on the island so did not get a feel for the night life

Portofino, Italy

5 out of 5
Portofino is beautiful. We did our own walking tour of the area and had a wonderful, tasty lunch. Nice shops.

Ajaccio, Corsica

5 out of 5
European in feel with narrow streets, yet busy. I think we were able to find the great restaurants and this was not any exception.

La Spezia, Italy

3 out of 5
I am giving this port a 3 because we did the Tuscan Wine Tasting which was not good.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
It's Rome. What else needs to be said?
