This was our first cruise since the beginning of the pandemic (this particular cruise itinerary had been postponed twice of the last year and a half). We were not sure what to expect, but it was a blast. Once on board, Celebrity does not require masks and with the ship at under 50 percent capacity, it never felt crowded and we always felt safe. When they did a Covid check on international passengers a couple of days prior to debarkation, they identified one positive case, a gentleman from Canada. They isolated him in Medical and temporarily isolated the rest of his party in their cabins and did contact tracing - no one else ever tested positive. They flew him home from Nassau to Toronto via private carrier (at Celebrity expense) and we sailed back into port Covid free. As far as the cruise, we enjoyed the entertainment, especially the on board bands when they played near the Martini Bar (where there was never an open seat). Celebrity has a fairly large entertainment staff on board, so it seemed like there was always a fun activity somewhere. We enjoyed it so much, we booked another cruise on the Apex early next year.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had a 12:30 aboard time, got there a bit early (hard to predict the hour and half drive from our house to the port). Check in was smooth and walked right onto ths ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food was universally excellent. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants, but tried all four of the regular dining rooms and has outstanding service in each. Fortunately there were four of us as we were only allowed to sit with our own party.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were a lot of on board activities, if anyone was bored it was their own fault. We used the pools, tried our hand at trivia, attended a couple of game shows and watched all the main show events.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All the musicians were terrific, the ships orchestra who backed the main showroom performers were remarkable. The rock band, duets, soloists - all outstanding. We had a great time and there seemed to be something going on at any given time.
Children's Programs
No children (and we only saw one on the entire ship).
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward greeted us right away, accommodated anything we asked for and was an overall delight. Restaurant personnel were universally friendly and quickly remembered our names whether we encountered them in the buffet or dining rooms. We had a couple of conversations with the Captain which was nice and ran into the Cruise Director seemingly everywhere.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was always immaculate. Infinite balcony was interesting, not completely sold yet, but we are getting there.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was small, always clean and met our needs. We had adequate storage space and plenty of ways to keep our electronics charged.
Ship tip
Make sure to download the Celebrity App and use it - you can make your schedule and control everything in your room from the app.
No excursion, just embarkation and debarkation both of which went very smooth. On debarkation they used facial recognition and we did not have to show our passports or anything, went from the scanner to the outside to our car.
We originally were going to an Orient Beach excursion but because of labor unrest on the French side of the island they substituted Kim Sha beach on the Dutch side - included a nice lunch, not the best beach, but not too bad.
We have been here several times and were docked at Crown Bay which just has a few shops and requires a taxi to go downtown. We just walked around a bit and got back on the ship.
We caught a private taxi just our the port gate and the four of us had a great time seeing some parts of the island few get to see, stops at tea shop, tee shirt shop, we skipped the rum cake stop and went to Atlantis for a short visit and then back to the ship. It was a lot of fun - but we did have to wear our masks at all time.
Off of the 10/23 cruise and totally agree with you. If you can swing it, try the Retreat class - it's like staying at the Ritz for a fraction of the price.
