Great cruise by cruiser76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been on 30+ cruises, and must admit Celebrity Eclipse is one of the nicest ships we have sailed on.  The room steward did an excellent job with our room as did our waiter in the dining room.  The ship is well maintained and I would love to sail on Celebrity again.    Food in the main dining room was terrible.  Everyone we talked to complained about the food.  The specialty dining was fantastic, and we would certainly do a package again.   They also need to have a better attitude about customers who do not drink.  We had a bottle of champagne delivered to our room, when I explained that we do not drink and asked if the champagne could be substituted with a bottle of water or sodas, we were told NO - this was not possible.  This is the only ship we have been on that would not make the substitution.

We would recommend the Eclipse as long as the main dining room issues are resolved.

Good cruise but not up to our expectations by HermanBarbara

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

A lot of time on the ship, but not terribly good entertainment. One good lounge group; but the rest were very loud and obviously amateurs pulled from eastern Europe.

Production shows very good; but entertainers brought in for evening shows were not top class.

Food in Ocean View was the same thing every day, and got dryer by the day.

Service really bad on average. Seemed like few people really cared whether you were there or not.

This was a high cost trip with low amenities. It goes to some beautiful places which are worth seeing. And if you are OK with not worrying about the entertainment, and not trying to get drinks, that's worth it.

We were on the Celebrity Silhouette in June. That was an overwhelmingly better experience. Don't know why there was so much difference in quality on essentially the same ship, but it was dramatic!

Wonderful by jwmihi

Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. We noticed a few changes from our first Celebrity cruise. Service was still excellent. However, entertainment was more sparse. Much less music in the evenings. Only 45 minutes here and there. Not as much entertainment available overall as we had experienced in the past.

The food was terrific. We usually dined in the main dining room and we definitely noticed that there was no way of knowing what to expect regarding portion size as it varied a great deal. Sometimes the portions were overly generous, other times very little. For example, one evening my appetizer was truly one single scallop. Lovely sauce, and tasty, but still all alone.

Much to see with Little Rest in between. by fabfour296

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our review is (solely) based on our particular tastes, enjoyments and experiences and never intended to persuade/dissuade anyone from patronizing a business.

We're in our early sixties and have only cruised eight times; we don't consider ourselves amateurs any longer but realize we're not experts by any stretch of the imagination.  This was our first experience with Celebrity.  The ship (Eclipse) was tastefully decorated, immaculately kept and had a design flow which made, from our particular stateroom (7th Deck, Forward), getting to areas/events of interest quite easy.

The entire staff was always polite, courteous, helpful and, based on our experiences, greeted everyone with a positive and upbeat attitude - smiles were plentiful.  They were expedient and cheerful whenever we needed something.

Honestly, we enjoyed this Celebrity cruise, the food, staff, people, entertainment, ports, accommodations, service and the activities for the most part; however, there were some aspects we were not overly enthused with but respected nonetheless.

We've only (previously) cruised with Carnival and Royal Caribbean and, compared to that with Celebrity, we found (in our opinion only) there to be a distinct difference in the age groups and the entertainment venues.

Although we are in our early sixties, we still enjoy seeing and participating along with younger people in upbeat and late night activities.  On this particular cruise, we found that most retired after the last evening show (around 10:00 p.m.).  That is not to say there weren't activities to be found, there were but most were short-lived and none, to the best of our knowledge, lasted into the early hours.

Do not be inclined to believe we are wild partygoers, we are not but we (occasionally) enjoy being around a younger crowd who are dancing the evening away and having a fun time - we just didn't find that happening on this particular cruise, that's all.

The reason we've even mentioned these aspects is quite simple......if you are the type who enjoy dancing the night away, having a cocktail (or two), interacting with a younger or more energetic crowd, you might want to explore other available options as two weeks aboard a ship is a stretch.

Did we have a good time?  Yes.  Did the Celebrity staff/crew meet and or exceed our expectations?  Yes.  Was the cruise well orchestrated, organized and interesting?  Yes.  Did the quality of food, service and entertainment meet our likings?  Yes. Overall, we really enjoyed this cruise.  In all fairness to Celebrity, if you're looking for a cruise that'll provide great service, good food, restful and clean environment and accommodations, good entertainment, interesting ports and a crew & staff who (constantly) demonstrate that the customer comes first ( actually, I believe they emphasize safety first but you know what we mean ) we don't think you'll be disappointed with Celebrity.

Great Cruise by carolott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were delighted with our 14 day southern Caribbean cruise on Celebrity. The  beautiful interior was beautifully decorated for the holidays. All the staff were very warm and welcoming. Our veranda stateroom was spacious, comfortable and always immaculately cleaned. There was very good entertainment each night. We have sailed before on Celebrity but thought the formal diining room was not up to it's usual caliber but the buffet level was bigger and better than ever. Overall they do a great job

Wonderful getaway to warm seas, warm weather, and warm people by go2sunsets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ports were great.  Wanted to snorkle and this cruise allowed for several stops to do that.

The Southern Carribbean Islands are all interesting places to visit and this 2 week tour was excellent choice.

Good time of year for many to escape the winter onset.

Lots of Island, need more rest by braindoc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Eclipse is a beautiful ship that will now go into dry dock for 2 weeks to be freshened up.   The staff was some of the best I have experienced in my 20 or so cruises.   The Captain and his staff were extremely accessible and we had a very nice smooth sailing with the exception of a return to Curacao to drop off a sick passenger one night.  There were so many stops on this luding many islands I have never been to.  I could have used more sea time to enjoy all the activities and comfort of this ship.   The food in the main dining room was a little disappointing.   I have seen the whole lobster now dwindle down to a lobster tail and this is the second cruise where it was cooked to a rubbery imperfection.  They also ran out of several items including the every popular prime rib.   I was glad to see that Celebrity is expanding its environmental stewardship by installing smokestack scrubbers  to clean up the dirty bunker fuel that they emit so hopefully in 6 months the ship will only be belching out clean white smoke.  Enjoyed many of the excursions, but some like the beach excursions were overpriced for essentially a bus trip to the island beach for a few hours.  Get together with some of your fellow passengers and just get a taxi, they will pick you up when you want and save you a lot of money, I also especially enjoyed the lectures on physics that were provided and some of the entertainers were top notch,  Also plenty of free drinks at all the activities sponsored by the ship.  Definitely the cruise was worth the money.

14 night southern cruise by nathanielsander

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This cruise was amazing! Great destinations and itenerary was perfect with not too many sea days. Specialty restaurants like Tuscan Italian Steakhouse was phenominel with melt in your mouth steaks and great mac and cheese. Pool bar was the highlight with Shaun, Selvie and Monica making great drinks, great conversation and a great atmosphere each and everyday. Room attendants Cato and Shernelle were fantastic! Mary and the the band played great music at the pool and nightly in the Sky lounge. Only disappointment was the night club Quasar and the music the DJ had to play which was not dance music. Also food in the Main restaurant was poor at best and the overall selection in Ocean view for breakfast and lunch was not up to Celebrity standards as in years past. Also Ben was by far the worst cruise director on any cruise I have been on. Finally I never saw the concierge and the Captain club should make it 100% known what perks are available to its members and see that they get them.

My experience by nellagoldburt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The first thing I would like to mention about this cruise line is great management.

Embark and disembark took just minutes.  Very organized and efficient service.

Cabin's service was very nice an always on time.  We've  almost never seen them coming to clean the cabin but coming back to our stateroom found it clean and with all the necessary stuff.

Dining room experience:  main dining room ( we liked the select dining that allowed our dinner anytime between 6 and 9 PM) had provided excellent  service.

As a buffet in the Ocean View restaurant, I would say that it deserved to be better for such a nice cruise line.  Bakery in the morning was stale and very little variety from day to day.

Entertainment was mostly OK.

Excellent service at Public Relationship desk.  Always polite, friendly, and helpful.

Our travel agent surprised us with OBC, so it was the first thing we saw coming to our cabin. It was a very nice gesture. Thank you very much.

Overall experience was very good and I would recommend this cruise line and specifically this ship to other people.

Only one complaint by tlcrwc69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Over all the cruise was awesome.  One thing that was wrong was the jelewry seminars.  The women talked up the pricing as awesome.  My husband bought a watch that started at $420 and got it for $365.  Well upon researching it after we got home because we had no internet on ship, it sells for $265 on amazon.  Same exact watch.  She also talked up the sleep band.  Again, after returning and researching the internet, we found that there was no proof to the fact that it helps you sleep.  Didn't work for me.Sad

Good cruise - 14 days too long. by esabfa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Beautiful ship and very friendly and helpful staff.  I'm not a "cruiser"...only went because husband can no longer do land travel.  The food in the Dinng Room was sometimes good and sometimes not so good.  We ate one night in the Tuscan Grill which was delicious.  The cafeteria was great, had a large selection of all kinds of food.  Also ate in Bistro Five once.  Crepes were delicious.  The shows at night - some good some we walked out on.  BUT the best entertainment was Perry Grant on the piano.  Went every night he was on. Disimbarkment was so smooth. Very well organized.  For me 14 days was too long....by 10th day wanted to head home....How much can you eat and drink????

Best Cruise Yet! by WorkingGirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The ship was beautiful, clean, spacious. The grass on the top deck was awesome!

Cabins were spotless and baths were large. There is limited drawer space.

Crew was excellent in every respect.

Cruise Director was top notch.

Food was above average from other lines we have been on.

Itinerary was great. Ports were interesting, weather was warm and there were enough At Sea days to get to relax.

Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The 14 day cruise which we recently returned from on the Celebrity Eclipse was an exhilarting experience.  Not only did the weather cooperate, but the service was excellent, as well as the cuisine and on board as well as excursion activities.  It was well worth it.

Magnificant by rickcolpitts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Just what I expected from Celebrity,  with a few hiccups ,  a professional crew, good food and clean ship. Last year we took a Holland America ship for two weeks and it was not a very nice time. The food was abysmal, the crew was surly, The men's bathrooms smelled of urine, Our room smelled of gas and there was no side of the ship that was non smoking. My wife and I do not smoke.   To the hiccups. The deck chairs on deck five were just that "chairs" and not the nice lounge chairs that we love on other Celebrity cruises, on these cruises we love the open air feeling  . We do like the fact that one side of the deck is non smoking but we couldn't enjoy it for the lack of lounge chairs. My wife had a bad experience with a table cleaner which she reported and was thoroughly investigated. I would  recommend Celebrity highly for a wonderful cruise.

Cruise to the Caribien Islands by Edsil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have enjoyed the cruise very much and think that Celebrity is doing a very good job.

The rooms are very well done and so is the service.

We have decided to upgrade from a Concierge

room to a Aqua Spa room this time, and found the Blu room restaurant a big plus.

Unfortunately our room wound up directly underneath the pool and started the day by 5:30 every morning with lots of noise above us. Chairs and tables being moved and so on! So that was very disturbing and woke us up every morning.

Cruise was marvelous by mauerprod

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I really need someone to help me  We had a marvelous time on our 14 day cruise untill we found out that the cruise line was takng money out of our account way before the end of the cruise  The lady told us that they were just verifying the money was there.  We had $2,,000 being deposited to our credit acccount and we knew that was plenty.  They took $401.00 out of our credit card and then at the end they called me down to the desk and I paid them another $528.00.

Our cruise was magnificent and I am the one that talkes our friends and family only to go on Celebrity Cruise because all 3 times I have been treated like royalty.  Do I have to have my credit card commpany dispute the $401.00 they took out at the beginnikng of our cruise  We know we did not spend $l,000 on the ship and we also had $100 on board credit...  I just seen that we were charged double for more than half of our charges.

Please check into this for us  We are so upset and never ever planned on the cruise taking money out of our credit card before the end.

The lady told us they were just verifying the money was in there but the credit union has 17 charges off the ship that had already been taken off and we still owed $528..00.

Please help us on these transactions  We have all the paperrs to verify waht was taken out by you with our credit union and mh paynent to you out of our deebit card for $528.,00

Any consideration you can give us on this situation willl be greatly appreciateed.  Your answer to our questios hase to be resolved because our credit union has advised us to dispute the 17 chaarges you took out pus $528.00  We are no drinkers...  We had one drink every night after the show before our group called it s niight;

PLEASE HElP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrity is the B-E-S-T !! by Irishsailor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Celebrity exceeded our expectations !  From the glass of champagne as we entered the ship to the final day breakfast we were pampered and

catered to by the entire crew. From the REAL grass on deck 16 to the superb meals in "select dining" the entire 14 days were wonderful. Our days at sea were relaxed and refreshing. The entertainment was "full house" every night. The shore excursions were wonderful, especially lunch at Stony Hill in St Lucia. Book Celebrity and enjoy !!.

A Good Time Was Had By All by Cdogg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I can't say enough good things about our experience. Our stateroom was excellent as was our stateroom attendant. The dining, entertainment, and activities were great ( there just wasn't enough time to do it all)

The itinerary was why we chose this druise and with the exception of one port we wer well satified. I would recommend Celebrity Cruises to anyone, as the facilities and staff are first rate.
