Okay, so the trip and ship was a mixed bag but as the saying goes, the worst vacation is better than the best day at work. The first-world problem of not everything on the trip being "perfect" but hey I was visiting Spain, Greece, Italy, and Malta and if I can't be grateful for that, I've got more problems than having to deal with a little bit of rain and a chill in the air.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
One huge advantage of the loyalty program and booking a suite, it makes embarkation a breeze
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
For some reason, the servers on this trip were not quite as helpful or assertive as our past Celebrity cruise experiences. Not that they were bad, just not as helpful as we have come to expect.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I personally do not engage in the onboard activities but my friends really enjoy themselves.
Entertainment
While I'm not on vacation, I wake up at 3 in the morning so when I'm on vacation it is still hard for me to stay up late enough to watch the evening entertainment.
Children's Programs
We do not have children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Unfortunately, on this particular cruise, the service was a mixed bag. This was the 3rd cruise that we booked a suite and while the service was above average, it was not up to the standard set by our 2 previous experiences. Not to say that it was bad, just a bit underwhelming.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I am always happy with the design, maintenance, and cleanliness of Celebrity ships, this one was no different.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. The floorplan was very comfortable, a nice plus was the huge round porthole window right next to the sofa. The only "issue" is being careful of the small metal column next to the bed, you might bump into in the middle of the night, lol
Barcelona is a beautiful city with too much to explore and see. We were here for 5 days prior to the cruise and 1 day after, still could not see enough of it, We will certainly be back.
Due to rain, we decided to stay on the ship. This was not an issue since we had been here a few times already. It's a wonderful town and enjoyable but we felt resting and relaxing on the ship to be a better choice this time around.
Had a wonderful time just meandering around the town with some friends from past cruises. We didn't have any itinerary or plans, just walked around chatting, snacking, and relaxing, it was maybe the highlight of the whole trip, relaxing and connecting more deeply with cruising friends from halfway around the world.
Besides going to Paraportiani Tavern to see the pelican we saw a few years ago and to have a great lunch, I'm not a big fan of Mykonos. It's okay but not a big deal for me.
Santorini was a mixed bag, while I love the little hillside town and the food. The rain that we experienced put a damper on it, felt sorry for the folks who got caught up in the waterfall of donkey poo walking down the hillside because of the gondola had a 2-hour wait and about 30 people from our ship missed making it back on board in time. Nobody's fault just bad weather and timing.
This was our 2nd time in Valletta and while we didn't do any excursions this time, it was wonderful walking around the town and just relaxing, taking it all in.
Being that this was the last cruise of the season and the inclement weather that dogged us the whole trip it was funny that the cherry on the top was over an hour wait for taxis to get back into town in very cold weather. Just a lesson to us, not to book so late in the season.
