Review summary

Our first cruise in almost four years because of Covid - and well worth the wait. We had a great time, and we are looking forward to our next trip

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Like many others, we took a Celebrity-sponsored bus from Venice to the cruise ship in Ravenna. This part was a little chaotic, but once we got to the ship, things went smoothly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were in Aqua class, so we had breakfast and dinner almost every night in the Blu restaurant - outstanding food and service. Lunch in the buffet was fine - many choices. We never ate in the main dining room or in a specialty restaurant (except for Blu)

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I went to the Solarium (indoor) pool and fitness center once or twice a day. I did not play pickleball, but I did see people playing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows in the large theater were fine. I was disappointed that there were no talks about the ports we were visiting or the historic nature of the area - such talks have been an integral part of our previous Celebrity cruises to Alaska, the Baltic region, and Greece/Turkey

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The entire staff in Blu, including Harmonie at the door and all of the wait staff, was excellent - both friendly and professional. Our room steward Eduardo did a great job taking care of our stateroom. In fact, every crew member on the entire cruise greeted us with a smile and was helpful when needed

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was kept clean, but as many people have noted, the ship is showing its age - it is time for a refurbishing

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Like most cruise ship cabins, space was tight, but we did have room to store everything. The television in the room was antiquated - the system must be updated. We had just a basic internet package - very often there were problems connecting and/or switching devices. But eventually we were always able to get on the internet. The Celebrity app is nice

Ship tip

If you can, get a room in Aqua - it costs more, but it is worth the extra price

Ports of call

Ravenna, Italy

4 out of 5
Lovely mosaics in the ancient (some almost 1500 years old) structures in the city. I was very happy that Celebrity had a free bus from the ship into the center of the city

Zadar, Croatia

4 out of 5
Again, Celebrity had a bus taking us into the city. Zadar also has many ancient structures, together with a bustling central business district

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
Dubrovnik lives up to its reputation - fabulous city. Don't miss it. And once again, Celebrity provided free transportation right to the gate of the Old City. Thank you Celebrity for this amenity!

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
We liked Naples more than expected. We had a private guide who gave us a food tour of the city. There was no need for a bus into the city this timepe

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

Unfortunately, because of the weather, we could not tender or dock in either Portofino or La Spezia. Celebrity, quite rightly, valued the safety of the guests above all else, so we simply had additional days at sea

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Getting off a cruise ship is always a bit chaotic, but this experience was relatively simple
